The audio Tim shared from the nun singing the Lord's Prayer stirred my soul and brought me to tears. Thank you for sharing the voice of our sister in Christ.
I was cleaning my kitchen listening to this episode and heard the commission to Tents and call to submit our own sung versions of the Lord's Prayer, and the thought brought me to tears as my mind immediately started to invent a way to sing it like the doxologies I sang as a child before life changes that brought me out of that tradition. Thank you, Bible Project!
My comment is limited to the first 6 minutes. The rest was good of course, but the discussion about the Syrian nun and listening to her singing the prayer was simply incredible! Beyond wonderful
I found this video: ruclips.net/video/E84PFLtPsa0/видео.html which seems to be a clip of one of Tims old classes ... but if you ever search for The Lords Prayer in Aramaic, you'll find lots of amazing videos, like this one: ruclips.net/video/YkC_7AxXfLA/видео.html God bless :)
I’ve had stirrings in my heart for a while now that much of our prayers and praise should be sung. Over and over scripture tells us to sing. Sing a new song. It seems like the tune doesn’t matter. The Catholics also do something called Liturgy of the Hours where Psalms are sung at different hours during the day. I believe YHWH is a mathematical genius. Singing to Him is a part of His science. It’s a vibration and frequency wave thing connects to Him in ways we don’t understand. I’ve adopted the habit of singing Psalms every day. It’s transformative
WOW! I'm blown away by the beauty of this podcast. And I really look forward to the coming further instalments.I wish there were some way to also learn Biblical Hebrew. It's so difficult to find resources that work, even if you can afford them.
Adam (male + female), fell into temptation and took a bite out of the kingdom, power, and glory, of our Heavenly Father. This prayer and all others need to be prayed in private. As a group, it needs to be prayed behind closed doors.
Our Father who is in the skies may your name be recognized as holy May your kingdom come and may your will be done as it is in the skies so also on the land Our daily provision of bread give to us today and forgive us our debts just as we also have forgiven those indebted to us And don't lead us to be tested but deliver us from the evil one Amen Copied out of the transcript of the audio and verified/cleaned up for overlapping voices.
29:00 Repetition has a place, for faster memorization but it can diminish the significance of what’s being said. If we believe the Almighty Father hears our request, and in fact knows what we need before we even think to ask, we need not ask once, save for the fact that we are commanded to do so, thus once a day, is sufficient, three times a day is pushing it. The repetition is also a violation of what Jesus Christ teaches us in the Sermon. I am therefore, confident that the Almighty finds such repetition obnoxious, and wants you all who do it, to stop! Paul says, never cease in prayer, you argue! Yes, every moment, we are in the presents of our Heavenly Father, and he knows our every thoughts! How much more so are we obligated to constantly ask him for help in keeping our thoughts pure? “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” (Matthew 6:7-8, KJVA)
Jesus Himself prays multiple times in the garden of Gethsemane, so to say it is "pushing it" or a "violation" is an incorrect understanding. It seems like you're overlooking the key words "Vain" and "As the heathen do". Jesus is not highlighting that their prayer is wrong because of repetition, but rather, because it was done so in a manner that was aimed at showmanship and appearance. When Jesus prays in Gethsemane, He prays in repetition BUT He does so fervently and earnestly (as well as in private).
@@chopblocker89 Semantic satiation is what the Rosary causes. I am not at all talking about situations of what seem to be moments of desperation, anxiety, or desperate need. We can for example deduce from Scripture that Isaac & Rebecca prayed for children for 20 years. But did they say the same exact prayer 50 times per prayer session? No! Daniel prayed three times per day, but did he say the same exact prayer 50 times each prayer session? No! We know this by how he prays in chapter 9.
@@SeanRhoadesChristopher you citing examples of “non repetitious prayer” does not prove that it is, as you said “ a violation of Jesus Christs teachings”. You are also making an arbitrary classification for prayer that I don’t believe scripture makes (immediate verse long term prayer needs). Sure, there can be pitfalls with praying the same thing over and over - but to say it is “anti- biblical” is wrong.
@@chopblocker89 What I am about to say is advice I myself need to take seriously and apply, I’m working on it but my flesh too is weak and wicked and constantly fighting against me, but I am better today than when I first began: one area where prayer may need to be applied as with Jesus in Gethsemane would be his apostles, when the desire to sleep was upon them. In this case they had just eaten a large meal heavy in proteins and fats also wine. Unlike the Exodus situation there seemed to be no need to flee. They had eaten this pascal meal for years and as before the natural need to sleep was always allowed to be satisfied. In fact they had been with Jesus for two previous passover meals. Now however, Jesus tells them to remain awake and watch. He then gives them the solution that would enable them to resist the temptation not to sleep mat26.41. Why was it a temptation? Because he asked them to watch, yet they ignored him and not only did they neglect to pray, they obeyed their flesh and dozed off. In this situation, prayer could have been repeated each time the desire to sleep (temptation of the flesh Jas1.13-16) creeped up on them. They might also have considered praying to always take the words of our master seriously. This is something we all need to do whenever our weak flesh wanders off into distraction or sinful thoughts start to flood our minds Jas1.2-12. It is not that the LORD does not hear our prayers, it is that our faith is much smaller than one molecule of a mustard seed and we only think he doesn’t hear us, so we repeat our prayer unnecessarily Mat6.30. We truly are wicked to think we must repeat within a 10 second span the same request (Mat7.11). Perhaps it is because those who come to us for help have learned they must repeat their requests or be ignored if not run off Mat7.12. And can we accept a No?(Mat5.33-37) It's the answer most of the time, but it is always for our own good Jas4.1-12. Although our Father said nothing, after three tries (Mat7.7-11) the answer to his only begotten was "No my son." (Mat6.10)
The Lord’s prayer is John 17. The our father is an example, given by Jesus, of how to pray. Jesus did not trespass, (sin), and therefore the prayer was not for him.
But wasn’t Jesus on earth “as a man”, divine in origin but also (temporarily at least) human during his time on earth.. and as a human, he was exposed to the potential to sin (wasn’t he tempted by the evil one-just as we all are?) So, at least for me, the assertion by Tim that Jesus himself would have prayed this prayer just as He told us to is logical and true. You raised a valid point and I hope that God’s Blessings come upon you ❤
thank You Lord for giving us Your prayer! may we use it well and pray without ceasing!
God bless you all!!!

Check out (Learn to Read Hebrew in 6 Weeks)… it’s helped me immensely and she has a course where she teaches you to read Genesis 1
I love Liz Vice!

In Catholicism we have the Liturgy of the Hours which is sung at fixed time each day also follows what is talked about today in the presentation.
The conversation on liturgy is why I ultimately went towards Orthodoxy.
I hope it’s been a huge blessing; this conversation has certainly helped me open up to the beauty of liturgy.
Can you share these ancient liturgical prayers on your website? That would be nice.
The Bible Teacher Shane Willard suggested something like “Our Father who is closer than the air we breathe”
Hi. I tried to listen on Podcasts but it says unavailable 😢
Is there a separate youtube video of that prayer recording of the nun?
Is there a link to where authors can upload their versions of the Lord's Prayer?

There was Carrington level event and nothing was affected as thought.
I think there's a connection.
I was taught the P.R.A.Y. method. Praise. Repent. Ask. Yield.
