Merry Christmas Michael. 🎉
Just wanted to point out that the “guy who killed Mozart” (in the fictional movie, not in real life) was Antonio Salieri. Doménico Scarlatti was a Baroque harpsichord/keyboard composer who died when Mozart was less than 1 year old.
Hello Michael Merry Christmas to you too... You are number three who found the mixup, thx for sharing those facts with us
Two queens
Great to see your voice sounding so much better. Thanks for all the videos in 2022.
Beautiful & well-compiled list Michael - not the easiest thing to do in a year full of exceptional releases! Thank you, I can imagine the hours - days - spent agonising over this! 😊👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Merry Christmas, Michael. Hope you’re day was a great one. Just wanted to mention that I’ve really enjoyed your channel. And you certainly have added an important and interesting aspect to the discussion of music. I’m not really an audiophile but your analysis goes much deeper than mere sound quality. The appreciation for avant-garde and electronic sound has been refreshing. Be well and enjoy the new year.
Nice video Michael some outstanding selections there. You have had an outstanding year with your channel its wonderful to see this community grow many thanks for your efforts and may 2023 be another great time for you. Cheers from Australia.
Thank you for showing these, Michael. Inspired choices. All the best to you and everyone in 2023.
Thanks for the excellent video Michael. I added 8 out of 10 of your selections to my collection this year and will soon have 9 of 10. Thank you for the wonderful assortment of videos for 2022. I can't wait for 2023. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Hello Micheal! Great video and great picks. There were so many great reissues in 2022 and cannot wait to see what 2023 has in store.
An amazing year for vinyl, UHQRs and Tone Poets feel like they’ve exploded. Some amazing Impex titles too. Michael, so much gratitude for your influence in so many pies this year, it’s enriched my collection no end, I’ve enormously enjoyed this years discovery more than previous.
Happy Holidays, Michael! This is a great video... what a great vinyl year!
Excellent group of reissues- have most of those myself. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Merry Christmas Michael! Thank you for all the great content this year.
Merry Christmas, Michael! Thanks for keeping us curated. :)
Great video Michael. I would have had the Bill Evans - You Must Believe in Spring release somewhere in my list. It was definitely one of the highlights for me this year.
Merry Christmas Micheal. Hope you had a wonderful christmas eve with your loved ones. Thank you for all your videos. Wishing you the best for 2023.
Excellent video, very nice to see a classical title included. Have a merry Christmas.
Thanks for the Top 10 Reissues 2022 Michael. UHQR Kind Of Blue Miles Davis in either 33 or 45rpm is Number 1 for me. We all agree it's a superb reissue. It's not easy doing Top 10 lists. Love your RUclips channel.
Thanks for all the videos this year.
Great reissues. I loved the video. Thanks Michael and have a nice Christmas Day 🎄
Frohe Weihnachten. 🎆🎶🎁 Danke für Deine Videos. Freue mich darauf, Dich auch im kommenden Jahr zu begleiten. Take care.

Merry Christmas Michael! All the best to you and your family.
Great list. Agree with you a whole lot.
Happy New Year Greetings from Copenhagen🌠
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 Michael! Always enjoy your journey's!
Thanks again. Michael. So grateful for you.
Excellent ! Merry Christmas !
Hi Michael great video - I’m still watching when I can, it’s good to see so many people interested. I totally agree with your number 1 choice. Mine too😊 and I also agree with your kind words about AP - I have over 500 AP titles now and not one do I regret. I think I would have had the Marley UHQR in there somewhere too but otherwise difficult to disagree with your choices. All the best for 2023.
Hey! Just seen the link to your shop! Wishing you a prosperous year ahead.
Nice Michael! I picked up most of these. It was a great year following you and being apart of this community. I’ve learned a lot and I’m looking forward to DSOTM 50th from Chad and co in 2023! Lol
I just purchased the MFSL of the David Crosby record. Michael, during this part of the video I felt a little emotional! After everything that happened this year, including a possible ban on your ability to buy records from certain sellers, this shows your character. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your honesty and fairness.
Great list, Michael. I appreciate both lists: box sets and audiophile recordings. I thought they were well balanced and gave credit to bold productions and quality products all can enjoy - except ERC which remains out of reach for us mere mortals. Merry Christmas! May 2023 see an end to the war in Ukraine. As an aside, I was moved by your comments after in Russian invasion. Always grateful.
I have to admit I scrolled through the video looking for the albums. I couldn't suppress my curiosity 😅. But I watched the full-length afterwards . Excellent choice Michael.
Happy Christmas & Merry New Year Michael

Happy Holidays Michael! Great list. It was tough to do a proper ranking as well, but my top 3 are 3. What's Going On. 2. Are You Experience UHQR, 1. CSN MOFI (Just released) Can t wait for all the great releases for 2023.
My favorite new channel (new to me) of the year 🏆
Enjoyed the passion in your review(s). Yes- as I have gotten older (63) how liberating it is to not say this or that is the best, but that this or that (or this and that for that matter) is or are my favorite(s). Interesting comments about Crosby. I did not consider getting that lp but now I am thinking about it. Fascinating that (re classical Scarletti work) linen paper packaging is back. I remember such albums from when I was a little boy...wow.
Thank you- Peace & Love to you.
I’m totally in agreement with #1. It’s fantastic!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2023 Michael 🎶
Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
SO jealous of you having that Marcelle Meyer/Scarlatti set. I have all her recordings on CD and they are sublime, especially the Scarlatti. Enjoy!
My favorite RUclips Channel of the year ... in place number one ... My fine German Vinyl commentator ... Michael!
Congratulations and best of luck in Mike,s world .
This year I may start a podcast, I have a new record, so it’s gone a lot of busy and fun..I’ll send you one
Happy new year. You are one my cornerstone RUclips experiences..keep it up..
I trust your critical eye and ears…cheers….
Cheers and Happy Holidays 🎄✳🎄
Merry Christmas Michael
Merry Christmas sir Michael
Thanks Michael!
Happy holidays man🎄🤛
Bravo Michael!
What an impressive collection, would love to hear, when you got serious about your interest in vinyl. Have you always been so aware of how to treat vinyl records? Michael you have a huge amount of vinyl records through this youtube channel, and all the music producers you get in touch with. Thanks for all you share.
Thanks for posting this informative and timely video. I enjoyed it.
Great video, thank you
Thanks Michael to improve our quality life
Just got my Scarlatti from UK yesterday… cannot wait to listen tonight after the kids finish their Xmas I get mine :)
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!
The JHE ARE UHQR, Wonderful Sounds and SD CBAT UHQR are really good. SD CTE is on the way and the rest of the SD are on order. JT SU is on the list.
Thanks for the rundown Michael checking out the jazz stuff to add in the future.
Great list! Happy new year Michael!
My list:
Hendrix UHQR, Beastie Boys VMP, Blue Train, What's Going On, Tribe Called Quest VMP, Thin Lizzy VMP, Alice In Chains "Dirt", Kenny Dorham "Matador", Wayne Shorter "Adam's Apple", Red Garland Quintet "All Mornin' Long", Guns n Roses "Use Your Illusion 1&2"
Frohe Weihnachten Michael 🤶
Bob Marley UHQR should be on the list
Just heard it. Fantastic recording.
Just ordered "The Wonderful Sounds Of Quality Record Pressings" based on your recommendation. Thanks!
Merry Christmas Michael.
Great top ten.Have 2 on order 3LP QRP and Stand Up.
Sounds like Chad is knocking the Steely Dans out the park.
The ERC record looks amazing , the craftsmanship in the jacket alone is so impressive.I have the Hendrix UHQR love it.
Regarding the David Crosby I have the Back to Vinyl version, came out in 2010 mastered from original analogue tapes, cut by Chris Bellman pressed at Pallas. So I will give the Mofi a pass even though I’ve heard good things.
Michael is the Mofi all AAA.
Really enjoying your content of late Michael.
Your channel goes from strength to strength .
Have a wonderful Christmas 👍
Yes the MOFI is Analogue to my knowledge
That’s one hell of a shelf. Gotta be some Dolly Parton country classics in there!
Hope you had a good Christmas Michael, as I am sort of new to the audiophile vinyl scene, I have built up a reasonably good collection over the year and a half. System is great no issues. Love you videos, and your list of 2022. By the way I use the same outer sleeves as you do, quick question I have the MG, Kevin Gray cut how do you use the sleeves to cover all aspects of the album gatefold, I could see you used three sleeves. Many thanks
Really enjoyed this one Michael. I was expecting the Steely Dan to be at the top of the list based on the reviews I have seen. The UHQR's are simply beyond my means price wise. Has Chad revealed if the upcoming 45 rpm releases will be all analogue? Best regards, Merry Christmas, Bob Ratliff.
I didn't buy any remasters this year apart from Insen.
Bought Some very old originals of Jim Reeves, Ella Fitzgerald. I. Mainly bought UK neo soul, jazz eg kokoroko, Ezra Collective, Jelly Cleaver, Nao, Nubya Garcia, George Riley, DoomCannon.
Not forgetting the ambient beauty of Elaine Howley. My latest LP which arrived 3 days ago is A Tribute to Ryuichi Sakammoto. Wow, wow, wow.
Great episode Michael.
That Tribute to Sakamoto LP exceeded my expectations - very nice
Nice asmr sounds when you turn the albums around in the jackets
I think all of us guessed your #1. I'll admit to being more than impressed with these releases, _especially_ considering the quality of the originals. I'm also glad you didn't include the Revolver box set, which is good, but falls a bit short of some others. 2 more Honorable mentions I don't see in comments: *Neu!* 50th box set, great sound and some nice goodies. Also a surprise to me: *Todd Rundgren* Something/Anything? Record Day 45 rpm box set. Wow. This was probably one of Todd's better sounding albums, before he started cramming 30+ minutes on a side, but this 45 is dynamic and clean AF, even being colored vinyl (not a fan).
Thanks for the list, i would of had Bob Marley UHQR in my list for sure. And a release of only 99 records while im sure sounds amazing and its your list but i wouldnt include as near impossible to get for us without a RUclips channel.
Simply: GREAT
Nice list, I would have included the VMP Low End Theory, an amazing sounding reissue.
My top 5 reissues for 2022 in no particular order:
Karate - Time Expired (Numero Group) -> Five crucial albums by the legendary post-punk/emo/jazz trio from Boston in a fantastic boxset.
Jorge Galemire - Segundos Afuera (Little Butterfly Records) -> Widely unknown but super influential jazz/pop/fusion album from Uruguay.
Don Beto - Nossa Imaginação (Mad About Records) -> Killer boogie/soul classic from Brasil.
John Coltrane - Blue Train: The Complete Masters (Blue Note) -> No explanation necessary...
Maria de Fátima - Bahia Com 'H' (Altercat) -> Beautiful folk album from Brasilian singer/songwriter reissued by Altercat from Berlin.
Best wishes from Hamburg ⚓
Yes per Karate, best release of the year
Would like to see the soundtrack to The French Connection or Sorcerer get a Deluxe reissue in 2023 .. Don't expect it though. Merry Christmas 🎅 ⛄️
Same!!!
That would be great.
I agree the steely dan uhqr is stunning
Good job!!! 2023 top selections will be Pretzel Logic and Katy Lied UHQR!!!!
Beautiful selections from 2022! I got most of them. Are you ready for 2023 and what Chad will release? It’s going to be insane!
Bill evans - you must believe in spring the recent 45rpm re issue is my number one of 2022
"Rite of spring"? This is by Stravinsky. You probably mean "You must believe in spring", the reissue by Craft Recordings.
@@artemiyberzborn670 thanks,edited
I happened upon an original copy recently at an attractive price. Too good to be true: I pulled the record from the sleeve and it was apparent why. Took a hard pass - too bad.
@@jonlevinson3000 you win some you lose some especially with first presses. Merry Christmas
Happy holidays Michael, what are the gatefold sleeves you are using? I have trouble storing my double LPs in typical outer sleeves and those look great!
Interesting video, Michael, I don't see how you could not place the best sounding version of Miles Davis Kind of Blue (45 rpm UHQR) in your list. Given the importance of Kind of Blue to modern music, I would place it at the top of your list, since it exceeds all previously released versions including the first original pressing. The stunning Jimi Hendrix AYE UHQR should be in the second position. Again, we're talking about an album that was revolutionary in its impact on the future of modern music, and it has never sounded better. 👍💖🎸😎
It was an amazing year for releases so amazing rastaman vibration uhqr didn't make the cut! That being said 2022 will be remembered for the mofi scandal...
Nick Heyward Woodland Echoes (2017) new to me in 2022!! Audiophile? Analog? Doesn't matter, if it sounds that good.
Great list as always. I was wondering Chad was going to have 2 major announcements this year one of which was the Steely Dan series. What's the other? Did I miss it, or am I inpatient with 3 days left in the year 🙂
Here's one George Michael "Older" x2 vinyl LP - believe you me if your system is half decent, this sounds FANTASTIC,& doesn't cost the earth to purchase!
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to ALL!!
This is a great video. I am curious how you got outer sleeves on The Wonderful Sounds album? I have tried to figure it out on my own but am not getting it...
Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto - Bester Tipp, Danke!
Cool I bought some of your top10 LPs too this year, also in the same versions you showed and love them all too
Steely Dan - Cant buy a thrill
Jimi Hendrix - Are you Experienced
Jethro Tull - Stand up
All 3 in one order, together with shipping, tax, duty you start to cry what extra money is going down the toi
I got into vinyl just mid 2022 so I don´t know out of my head what was released this year so I dont put a top10 list together.
The only Titel would be MoFi´s Thriller, I loved that one two, sadly you didn´t
I guess I bought ~300 LPs the last 4 month and from all I would say Metallica - Black Album stands out the most. If I have to demo just one LP it is this one.
Outstanding clearness, totally silence, strong base, bigtime punch, simply mega.
I hoped I would get I-Robot when it came out but Mofi doesn´t send to germany, wft? I think this could be a reference release too
Michael,
I think you got six and and seven.....backward!!
Merry Christmas!!
Mr. Pete--------->
aging hippie
Michael could you do a review of top 10 Italian prog albums? Thanks
i love steely dan. i’m so on the fence about getting these uhqr boxes of them because of price and i don’t know if i have the equipment necessary to get enough improvement over the originals.
Salieri is the one “portrayed” to have “killed” Mozart in the movie Amadeus.
Actually he inserted himself to assist in transcribing the score for Mozart’s Requiem whie WAM was on his deathbed. Salieri wanted to share in the spotlight, or even deceive that it was his creation.
His jealousy lead him to a mental breakdown.
Did Impex put anything out?
I really Liked the Eric Burdon and War RSD boxset
Tone Poet Katanga - Curtis Amy and Dupree Bolton - incredible sound
Norah Jones Come Away With Me 20th boxset sounded warm and inviting giving the Classic and AP a run for their money, plus the great extras (not just outtakes)
Damn, Michael. You got some reverb on that, or is that a natural German tone? Anyway. Damn. That Noto Sakamoto album killed and then resurrected me by the time the 3rd minute at 33 seconds happened. Then I got killed again. Wow. So that's a fun record. I actually have Blue Train. Really stunning. But you appear to have fashioned a nose. For the controversy. I have the double compact disc of What's Going On with the Detroit Mix, which is fun, but I feel cold lately to ol' Marvin. How much better is the new press vs. that classic first Detroit Mix exposure? My recommend would be a 1-5 or A to F better experience, but again. Not an audiophile. Enjoyed the vid, bud.
Great list! I love my Kind of Blue 45RPM, and my Blue Train Tone Poets. I’m waiting for my copy of Wonderful Sounds to arrive, it shipped last week. A few titles in the list I may have to pick up. How are the avant-garde titles spelled? Are you wholeheartedly committed to 10? I would love to hear the 10 runner up video.. surprised to see mofi in the list too, must have been an analog release.
Alva Noto and Sakamoto Virus Series
@@Michael45RPM thanks 🙏 I’m listening to it now, quite relaxing so far!
What about RASTAMAN VIBRATION UHQR?
“The Croz” ...it seems a lot of people, still remember his name;) Great list. Thank you. PS. Just to clarify, who released the the two John Coltrane “Blue Train” mono / stereo versions?
An audiophile 🎅 festival.
Scarlatti par Sonates, Marcelle Mayer is a main prize.
❤️Heike
Success Recognition Increased Value. :-)
What is the point of this when I can't purchase half of them because they are sold out. Electric Recording Company is impossible to purchase from, they are sold out before the items are released.
Merry Christmas. Great list, but I wonder why you left out "Utp_" by Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, when you mentioned the four other albums in their v.i.r.u.s. series?
will answer that in an upcoming video
@@Michael45RPM Wow a cliffhanger!
Great video(of course)...OT- Which company makes your glasses frames? Thanks!
So you won't give me the skinny on which company makes your glasses frames? 🙂🙏🙏🙏
Ups sorry overlooked they are from Henau
I only got one record that was newly rereleased in 2022; this was the Freedom Now Suite, all-analogue mastered by Grundman, on clear vinyl. Fantastic sound, on a fantastic album, that was only available in poor quality sound for decades because of petty legal wranglings.
Oops. I also bought the remasters / reissues of David Gray, White Ladder and George Michael, Older. Again Wow, wow, wow.
Hi @michael45rpm! Great list! What kind of outer sleeves are you using with your gatefolds and trifolds??? I need to add those to my collection asap!
I would also like to know how you sleeve your LP's - thanks
will do a video soon
@@Michael45RPM Great! 👍
Hi Michael, what’s the reason why the UTP album (VIRUS) of Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto was not included? Love your video’s! Happy X-mas.
is it out yet?
Yes, I got it a couple of months ago ❤
I had a dickens of a time getting clean copies: had to exchange two and one landed in pre-order limbo for a month. Eventually it was sorted out and I couldn’t be more pleased with all five.
Hendrix no 1 for me Bob Marley as well
Jungle released j thunders lamf very good as original was flawed que sera also
Did those Bowies play as good as they looked. Or were they the usual rca pops n bangs
