Art Tutorial - Creating a Vessel from Scratch- Part 1

  • Hello! I have a treat for you today! Welcome to part 1 of this 2-part series. I am creating a basin from scratch and preparing it for an encaustic finish (that will be in part 2...). I have this video sped up to the max! I know some of the viewers like to see as much process as possible, so I left it in, but dialed it up.
    I am using premixed drywall compound, a mixture of premixed concrete and drywall compound with a touch of paint, as well as cotton fabric strips, plaster wrap, burlap and an all-natural fibrous product. All of the materials are compatible with encaustic.
    The end result as turned out quite rich with juicy textures and an organic feel. I can't wait to show it to you!

    Very cool - especially the addition of that fibrous material to the inside of the vessel!

      Thank you Holly! I love that material, but find it a bit tricky to work in and keep its fibrous-ness! Lol. I appreciate your feedback!
