Hi Daphne, I'm gonna share this video with my new friends that want to start DPing. My first DP was a discount kit and knowing nothing about DP'ing, I ordered a 50x100cm canvas of Poppies, then proceeded to single place the entire thing. Took me 3 months. I use 1 pen, Glue Dots, museum putty, and the original free trays, albeit with duct tape on the bottom to block the light. All my cover minders were freebies with kits. Temu has all your cheap DP accessories: pens, etc. While working on projects, I use Temu Ziplock baggies kept on metal rings. Silver backed bags for Round Diamonds, Gold backed bags for Square. About $4/100 plus 2 binder rings. I reuse them with each new kit, (just finished my 72nd kit so these baggies last a long time). The 2 and 3" metal rings don't last long, so get lots!. The free kit trays work perfectly with these baggies. I bought 2 BSW Monster Storage Boxes w/lids ($15/ea) with dividers and cheap index cards from the dollar store for my spare drills. Hi Daphne, Thank you what makes a person a Diamond painter. This video fits all Diamond painters. I started out buying from TEMU. Not because they were Diamond paintings, but because I thought they were funnels. My crazy Christian friend was looking at the large funnel in one of the kitchen cabinets, and Wola my funnel was gone. Hee other nickname is sticky fingers. One night a friend came over and noticed all the wrapped Diamond paintings. She said she didn't know I Diamond painted . I said I don't. My friend opened one, and exclaimed this is a Diamond painting kit. But you can use the funnel in the kitchen if you want to. Yes, I have listen to creator and purchased what they unboxed . I do have my favorite artists. I love Gothic art, shows, books. Like you I really don't do matchy matchy with my canvases. I use tiny glue dots in single placers, and putty in my multiplacer. Living in Southern California I use Museum putty for other breakable. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you! Im simgle income person and i dont buy all the things. Also i have no clue about any artists. I just look at the kit and dexide if i like it or not. I do dp to make myself happy. I might spend the money on something at some point but my budget doesn't allow it. This was the best video.
Hi there. You have said things I can get .wish I'd seen this when I started diamond painting.we all make our canvases our own in some way or other. I get drills on my feet most days lol .TFS 😊

Was very helpful, nice to know even though we know deep down, even though it's alluring that we don't need all the designer things. I also use my pill bottles and I have a kit with tic tac size containers. Enjoy ur videos.... Very much
I've only been doing this a year ago in August. I don't remember how I "found" the hobby since nobody I know has ever heard of it but I was hooked. I learned tips and tricks were on YT so I checked it out. Went through quite a few until I whittled it down to focus on people I found didn't irk me. Some people are just too much for me, sorry not sorry. I ended up with about 5 I really enjoy, a couple are more into the higher priced co. and a couple budget co. After all this is supposed to UNstress you, right? One lady actually spent over 2 hours talking and showing her "stash" yet not one was actually "done". Needless to say I fell asleep 😂 And I gotta say nails and voice are a big factor for me. Nails that distract too long(and I mean claws), bad glue ones (over growing). Voices that sound too cutsie or condescending. I've had "Drillpox" diamonds stuck to you and leave pox marks😂😂
@@rosesmith6925 I get distracted by super long nails - I spend all the time wondering how they do anything like open doors or hold a pen. 😂 Drillpox - that’s hilarious!! Thanks for watching!!
So true, some of the video creator's are over the top!!! Can't stand their voice and esp when then keep tapping on the sticky canvas, I mean why do that?
I second the cutesie voices and the distracting nails!! Also, why stash SO many and show it off?? So materialistic and greedy. I found that the most off-putting and have un-subbed a couple like that.
AAh. Josephine Wall. One of my fave artists. I enjoy her art a lot and have quite a bit of it on jigsaw puzzles. Those are quite tricky too, because of the textures she uses. Something that would not be the same kind of tricky in a diamond painting. It's just quite a few colours of drills. I think I prefer them as jigsaws, it's quite a good brain trainer for recognizing small colour differences and textures. They'd probably work great for round drills now that I think about it. Her way of painting fits that vibe for me with all its whimsy. Anne Stokes, on the other hand feels very much like a square drill kinda art for me. I still want one of her statuettes next to the mugs and bookmark I have with her art (also some jigsaw puzzles). Hmm. Interesting, I just realised this is another showcase of how I enjoy saturated darker shades or lighter, more pastel shades in fantasy illustrations. Josephine does kinda do both with more vibrant colours, Anne Stokes uses mostly darker shades, but a lot of her dragons are pastel or light colours. How interesting.
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous Grafika is the puzzle brand I buy them from. They have a contract with her, I think. She has an entire section on their website. It's a brand from France and I don't think they sell it much outside of Europe

Thanks for this video... I'm not the type to follow, I look for info then decide. I use the pen that comes with the kit and pink wax. Mostly I watch youtube for honing my skill. I started my storage using the cardboard box the kit came in and baggies.
I really enjoyed this video and your thoughts. When I started months ago, I came across your channel. I have absolutely followed your advice: I only purchase diamond paintings that I love!!
Hi Daphne, I love your diamond painting outlook & content. I recently found your channel and subbed. Never have I heard the phrase “A Real Diamond painter”. If you lay drills on a canvas you are a diamond painter! Great motos “You do you - do what you love and what works for you & makes you happy.” Don’t listen to all the hype & noise and avoid FOMO. p.s. you are not alone…I tried a light pad and don’t like it for the same reasons you mentioned in your great supply video. 😊
Another great video Daphne 😀 No matter what you do there are always gonna be those people that think they know better and have an opinion and you should do what they do 😂 Have been diamond painting for about 4 years now and the only things I wish I could change is my storage and drill trays. Would love to get the Elisabeth Ward storage and I think it is the Cat Proof trays but unfortunately I dont live in a spot where they send 😂 In regards to light pads, I do use one but thats only cause the spot where I do them doesnt have much natural light. Oh my goodness that made me laugh about where you find drills. The amount of times I have found them in my bed. They have obviously been stuck to me somewhere when I have gone to bed 😂
@@cricketgoddess1978 I’ve done that many times! And having them stuck to me isn’t strange, but my youngest was offended that somehow one had migrated into his shower! 😂
As many drills as I have found in some very strange places I must indeed be a “real” Diamond Painter. Example, I heated up some garlic bread for hubby to eat with his spaghetti and there in the middle of a slice was a gold crystal drill. 😮
It's a wonder that I stuck with this hobby based on the fact that my first kit was a square and only about 12 inches by 12 inches. Absolutely no definition and I didn't have my magnifiers strapped to my head then. It came out so badly, it was pathetic. But the process was exactly as my pain doc had recommended. I got lost, stopped focusing on my pain, and decided I was going to keep going. It's been over four years and I'm still about the process rather than the product. I have a select few I've had framed (mostly customs) and a storage box in my guest bedroom that is quickly becoming filled up. I am a real diamond painter because I love placing those diamonds and do it every day.
I wonder if you could help me regarding pre cut stickers Is there anything I could put on my containers before I put on the precut stickers? I find it hard sometimes to get the stickers off the containers when I'm dekitting the drills I hope you can give me a suggestion of what I could put under the stickers so they could come off easier. Thank you in advance
I put washi tape on my containers and then place the precut stickers on top of that. The only issue I've had doing that is that sometimes the stickers don't stick to the washi enough, and I have to press them back down every so often. Thanks for watching!!
Been Dimaond painting since 2010. My home burned down and was living in a hotel missing my craft room and my sons found my first kit and got it for me. So I would have a craft to work on till the house was rebuilt. Yeap almost 24 years and still going
🤔🤨 How'd I get into diamond painting? 🤣 A friend from work asked one day, "you do crafts?" "Yes." " Do you diamond paint?" "No, I do not." " I've inherited my mother in law's collection. Would you like it?" "Not really." "I'll bring it to work tomorrow and give it to you." And thus, I now have a diamond painting collection.🥴
ive been diamond painting for 5 years now since late 2019, i love this vid and to be honest this is a great insight for a new beginner, i never had these vids and the way i found diamond painting was through a friend and seeing a kit in cheap shop in Australia, in the last couple of years ive been into buying pens but through temu/ aliexpress acrylic pens because they work well, i have never bought a custom pen, tray because they are expensive and to be honest the fomo is ridiculous, i only bought my first DAC one year ago and i love them even if they are expensive but i still do normal canvases and expensive because i love the combo of different qualities the good, bad and the ugly i paint by image and the process. long insight but thank you for this vid i 100 percent agree with you 💯💖
I hollered to my husband to come in the bathroom while I was taking a shower because I thought I had a tick on my butt (no glasses on), nope, it was a brown drill😂
Sorry....I am a human, too, and I love to diamond paint! 😂 I'm only asking about Diamond Painting Pro if that's a company you have ever heard of and if you have any opinions (good or bad) about them regarding what I just commented on.
I put drills on a canvas. I single place every single canvas, it’s not about time for me. I have found them in the shower, in the toilet, and the best one was my husbands forehead😂🤦♀️🤷♀️I love watching and listening to the “experts”, but always do my own thing. I started in February of this year and LOVE it. Thanks for your opinions.

But I have more than half of my first piece done already (most single placed because I didn’t initially have a multiplacer!
I used to think I was doing something wrong, going through the pink wax so fast. But glue dots and putty are sooo much easier and faster for the way I work. Thanks for watching!!
Thank you for such a terrific and informative video Daphne. I laughed out loud several times and it was a great way to start my Saturday :-).

You’re so sensible Daphne. I love your message and I like to do things that please me. DPing is my relaxation and therapy so the paintings have to speak to me. I had to laugh at where the drills can end up. I’ve had them in strange places too so I guess I must be a Real Diamond Painter.

Great video, and I can relate to most of it! I haven't really bought many extras YET, mainly because I'm a senior and our $ is limited. I just recently purchased a pen, but used the basic kit one for months and months. I've done many arts/crafts and found there always extras available. It just depends on your finances and whatever works for you. ❤

Hi Daphne,
Thank you what makes a person a Diamond painter.

Needless to say I fell asleep 😂
And I gotta say nails and voice are a big factor for me. Nails that distract too long(and I mean claws), bad glue ones (over growing). Voices that sound too cutsie or condescending.
I've had "Drillpox" diamonds stuck to you and leave pox marks😂😂
Lol so true!!!
@@ammalyrical5646 I’ve not seen any of her art in a puzzle, I will have to look for one. Thanks for watching!!
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous Grafika is the puzzle brand I buy them from. They have a contract with her, I think. She has an entire section on their website.
It's a brand from France and I don't think they sell it much outside of Europe

Placing drills makes me a "real diamond painter".
As many drills as I have found in some very strange places I must indeed be a “real” Diamond Painter. Example, I heated up some garlic bread for hubby to eat with his spaghetti and there in the middle of a slice was a gold crystal drill. 😮
@@jojoa0808 😂 I haven’t found one in my food yet, but those little suckers get everywhere! Thanks for watching!!
@@susandoty8241 I love that the process helps you!! Thanks for sharing!!
I wonder if you could help me regarding pre cut stickers
Is there anything I could put on my containers before I put on the precut stickers? I find it hard sometimes to get the stickers off the containers when I'm dekitting the drills
I hope you can give me a suggestion of what I could put under the stickers so they could come off easier. Thank you in advance
I put washi tape on my containers and then place the precut stickers on top of that. The only issue I've had doing that is that sometimes the stickers don't stick to the washi enough, and I have to press them back down every so often. Thanks for watching!!
@@DiamondPaintingAnonymous thank you so much for your suggestion. I appreciate it.

Is it important to save drills?
@@larasiaking5743 Only if you are interested in using them for other projects. There are many diamond painters who don’t save their spare drills.
🤔🤨 How'd I get into diamond painting? 🤣 A friend from work asked one day, "you do crafts?"
"Yes."
" Do you diamond paint?"
"No, I do not."
" I've inherited my mother in law's collection. Would you like it?"
"Not really."
"I'll bring it to work tomorrow and give it to you."
And thus, I now have a diamond painting collection.🥴

ive been diamond painting for 5 years now since late 2019, i love this vid and to be honest this is a great insight for a new beginner, i never had these vids and the way i found diamond painting was through a friend and seeing a kit in cheap shop in Australia, in the last couple of years ive been into buying pens but through temu/ aliexpress acrylic pens because they work well, i have never bought a custom pen, tray because they are expensive and to be honest the fomo is ridiculous, i only bought my first DAC one year ago and i love them even if they are expensive but i still do normal canvases and expensive because i love the combo of different qualities the good, bad and the ugly i paint by image and the process. long insight but thank you for this vid i 100 percent agree with you 💯💖
