      I've watched you since that first Ryan George thing. You generally have smart, witty comedy that screams original and is often strikingly brilliant. (Like the pandemic future Julie visits...)
      SNL could very much use your talents. But they've lacked real talent for 15 years, so...
      not the highest hurdle, despite the prestige. I truly believe your comedic style warrants a better venue, so to speak. Forget the dinosaurs, modern comedy is here, on this channel already...

    One thing is for sure: working at SNL Julie wouldn’t be as free to develop her creativity and be original as she is now. Catering to mass audiences requires a level of conventionality that she might find stifling in the long run, even if her arrival to such a platform could open new doors (“it is better to be the head of a mouse than the tail of a lion”, we say in Spanish). In any case, intelligent as she evidently is, I’m sure she knows what she’s doing and I can only wish her the best of success.

      I don't agree with this at all. I think she could handle the acting portion of it and those writers would love to work with her. All of her impressions were spot on. I'm definitely not Lorne Michaels, but if I was, I would look further into her acting skills. Right now, she has to write, produce, edit, film, & star in her own stuff. Dropping the majority of the work and allowing one self to act would be freeing, in my opinion. Running a successful RUclips channel is no joke. It is a LOT of work.

      After seeing Sherman's work outside of SNL I think her selection was interesting since it doesn't seem like obvious pick. If I had to describe her style I would call it esoteric rodeo clown. 😐 But I think they can make it work like it did in this skit where I think she was playing more than just a character written for her.

    Julie, you are way too good for SNL! I've never laughed at any of their content, while you have kept me entertained for hours. Chase after the thing you want, for sure, but thank you so much for being right here!

      Oh come on. I love how people feel the need to praise someone by illogically denigrating something else. SNL isn't the pinnacle of comedy, but they still get a lot right. Let's not go completely off the deep end here. Sheesh!

    • @megardyn
      @megardyn 2 года назад +7

      I have publicly disliked SNL without praising anyone else. I genuinely don't like the content, and will express that again in the future I'm sure, whether I have anyone else to praise or not. Julie just happens to be praiseworthy in this context.

    Well done, often these decisions have nothing to do with talent. That is only one of the boxes to tick. if the other boxes are already ticked by existing cast members then you don't get it. But never get to know why. Didn't Jimmy Fallon have to audition twice? Just keep doing what you're doing. This reel is fantastic. Your reaction on 'focus camps' name change is brilliant!

    Just keep crafting. I really think the one thing all the most successful comics seem to have in common is that drive to keep developing material and getting it in front of audience to see what works the way you want. I think your channel shows that drive and dedication. Also, you're funny as hell 😁
