    I mow a few yards with similar grade hills with an old Ferris IS 500z. It’s sketchy as hell if it’s wet, I would never chance it with a pond at the bottom. I will say that brand new Carlisle tires make a huge difference in what I can do with that mower. With that said, I just bought a 52” Wright ZK the other day to feel safer and have the ability to bailout if I need to. Keep the review videos coming. It’s nice to see what these machines can do in real world scenarios.

    Stanley I run a smaller version of the cub cadet you're testing and believe me, there is nothing that can outperform the pro z line up on hills. I mow the most aggressive hills in my market because no one else can and I get paid damn good money to do it. I've been preaching these machines to everyone for 2 years and now they are starting to show up on everyone's you tube channel. Glad to see cub cadet making its mark

    First riding lawnmower, never have driven a zero turn until this one It was easy to drive out of the chute with some practice. Taught my 12 year old nephew to drive it. Love the smooth response of the turns, very comfortable ride and great control. Love this mower, wish I had more yard to mow just to give me more time on it! Great mower, you'll be happy with this one!

    Stan, a big thanks to you and your crew......great, great video. Three wonderful mowers!!! My employee's love the security and maneuverability of the CUB CADET Pro Z's......instead of the land dictating how you will mow, you now can decide how YOU want to mow. The increased productivity is staggering. Our records show about a 30% increase on sloped land. I will never pay 12k, -15k for a mower unless it can mow a steep hill. Best of all.....I can mow those steep hills on a damp day and do it with one hand (that's just me showing off) KUDOS to Team CUB. God Bless

    I was mowing the other day in an area that wasn't mowed for 5 weeks and thought of one of your videos where these TOYS that you get can't handle tall grass. Now this one and they can't be controlled well on hills. Go try a Kubota BX2380 with a 60" mower deck and has 23 hp diesel. The 4 wheel drive can hold on the hills, and the mower with few exceptions is once and done. Enjoy the videos!

  • @MrTdogg175
    @MrTdogg175 3 года назад +1

    The exmark turf tracers are the best mowers for slopes period for me. We run one turf tracer and one layer Z in the spring and fall, and during the late spring and summer months we run only turf tracers. I could cut that hill up and down stripes the whole way without slipping. The only time it’s ever slipped on me is if it was in the middle of raining and even then was only slightly for a foot or so, and when the tire tread was worn out. Other than that with a velkie it’s amazing on pretty much any single slope you can think of and when it gets too steep you have an easier time just stepping off the machine and keeping grip than any stand on I’ve used. I had a slope that was almost an 75° pitch going up toward the house and was able to mow it diagonally and straight up and down no problems with the turf tracers, where as before I had cut the same exact property with a wright stander and it couldn’t do up downs unless you went up the hill and back down the hill backwards.

    Easiest way to tackle steep hills for me is to start from the bottom and work your way to the top. More grip when you turn up hill because you have more weight on the back.

      Absolutely correct... Back down the hill then start at bottom go horizontal and only turn up... The minute you turn down it is over!... I had a guy role a full size Exmark off a cliff and into a retention pond b.c. he got stuck panicked and turned down!... Nearly killed himself...

    In the Pittsburgh area I've often stated we're billy goats as we don't knock down the hills, we often build them on the terrain. Although it's not San Francisco, other parts of CA, Colorado or other know mountainous areas, they don't have the steepest streets. Pittsburgh's Canton Street out of North/South Americas, Europe & Africa is the steepest. It's 630 ft (190 m) long (the hill is about 65 meters long) and is claimed to include a 37 percent grade 21 ft (6.4 m) feet long.
    I'm not debating over whose residence land is the steepest. It varies throughout the entire country. It's knowing what's steep & steeper. I live in southwest Pa. I just started looking into Billygoat & Cub Cadet. Pa is full of varying hills. When was 12 I took on the responsibility of moving our lawn. When first moved in, the back bordered onto corn fields & the previous owners failed to keep it up. I originally had a non-motor push mower. I spent an entire summer cutting down the backyard, using both a hand sickle & that mower. Finally I got a 'regular' mower & cleared the back. The house was built horizontal on a hill. There is almost flat, kinda steep, sharp drops had to use a rope tied around my waist tied to a deck post & the edge was so sharp, had to go into the neighbor's side to push up, because ground from rain break off. One area of the back was deceptively slippery can fall quickly & the mower would tumble over. I counted 10 degrees around the lawn.
    Years later have to return, I'm taking care of a relative in the house. I've been out-of-state to monitor any condition of the house & lawn. The backyard went right back to the condition is was when we moved in. The grass is around 6ft high. The sharp drop between the neighbors can't even see the drop only the thick bushes that have grown. The one used a rope for, can't even see it! Can't even walk towards it, the grass is so high looks as if in a jungle. I'm looking at these mowers to cut down the forest/jungle/steep grade lawn. I slipped trying to use the sickle & think this will be better surefooted & safer. No offense those are hard when wet, at the bottom there are rocks & a pond. At the bottom of mine could be a sharp drop off reminds me of a speed jump. Through the years only a few landscaping services would do. They'd never think to try a riding lawnmower on any section.
    I'm trying to find out what is the best for very extreme elevations & terrain (back is always deceptively wet).

    Stan... test drive a John Deere X739 4 wheel drive, and all wheel steer with a 60 inch deck on that same slope. It will walk around that steep slope any direction, wet or dry, all day long. Plus next winter you can blow snow with it, with no chains required. It's about 12k new. They retain their value, and are a lot lower priced than the Cub, or that dual wheeled Wright. A number of commercial guys use them as a main mower here in the Hutchinson, MN area, hills lakes, and all. Blessings

End up weedeating the bottom half of the hill usually.

    I like the cub, but it's too big so I'll stay with the WRIGHTS. Now I'd love to have duel wheels but with the yards I do it wouldn't make sense. I've got to get close with the deck and the wheels stick out to much. I also hope so much that WRIGHTS does the Vangard with the 500 hr oil change engine. I've even thought about buying a 52" and changing the engine out myself. But you got them to go above what I was thinking about. I do believe in the Dallas area I would need an oil cooler tho, with a oil change interval of 500 hrs. Or maybe put the love jugs on it like I have on my Harley. THAT! was a great and very informative video, thanks for that!

    My opinion even though we don't use these type of machines in Greece because we do not have lawns to mow, is that the Wright tyres should be more comfortable of a ride overall due to the absorption capability over bumps, the tyres offer for the person that uses it all day long.

      Tweels usually tear the turf up a little more on a zero. Because of the contouring surface, gets maximum grib. Same with the dual wheels. The cub with the steering wheel really helps.

    I'd love to see this with a Ferris 3200 with midnight edition tires vs the Altoz with tank treads!!

      I have a ferris 700is and love it . That hill does not look that steep. I dont have really wide tires but what i do is go up and down if its a really steep slope. If your side hilling you need aggressive tires or really wide ones for traction.

    I have a couple properties that have sprinklers going when we cut. We almost lost a mower..... we asked them if we could turn the sprinklers off while we cut and then back on when we finish or if they would cut the sprinklers an hour before we got there. They agreed to cut it when we called giving them an hours notice each time and then me and my guys turn the sprinklers back on before we leave. That lasted about 3-4 weeks then they decided they didn’t want to keep having to turn the sprinklers off. So I suggested “WE” turn them off an before and turn them off as we already have access to the app that runs the sprinklers since we installed the pumps/sprinklers and set up the app.
    So now we pull up (the sprinklers are always going) and we spend10-12 minutes (on and off time) on each mower putting these special chains on the rear wheels and use them only while mowing around the pond. We charge them extra now for doing the pond. We itemize the time for the chains and a bit extra for all four mower operators. Each mower operator got a minor pay jump for hazard pay. The company didn’t balk at all on the price increase. Come to find out they had 3-4 other mower companies quit them because of how dangerous the pond area was. Maybe I will take a look at the Wright and the Cub Cadet to see how they work for us. Maybe we can ditch chains

    What do you think of the old school bobcat 48 belt drive mower.this mower now has a Briggs Stratton 18 go key start engine. The old engine was a Kawasaki engine. My mechanic say the Briggs Stratton engine needs 500 amp battery. do you think it needs that many amps??????

    Excellent video, a lot of good footage. Most of us out here can't afford to buy one of those big machines. How about putting a video together using average machines, zero turns and stand ons, 48"-54" using different tires and treads to test traction on hills. I have an account that I push mow the hill and below, my zero turn just skis down the hill.

    I rocked the 32" Staris for a week. Love it for the small city backyards. I like your Wright color scheme better than any of the other schemes I've seen. They going to be offering those as well as the SG one? Thanks for this bad a$$ video.

    I use a Grasshopper with ags on steeper hills than that with no problems. We can even drive it down almost into our pond and back it right out, very stable mower.

      Do you still have the grasshopper? Still like it? Can you turn at all on those hills you mentioned?

    • @msack6904
      @msack6904 Год назад

      @Scott Burgle I never owned it, it was owned by the church I used to go to. I was a trustee and the primary mower of about 5 acres.
      I used it for about 6 years or so, we actually traded a Ferris IS5000 32 hp diesel, 72" cut for the GH, I would buy another if I needed it.
      Not sure about turning on the hills, but it would not slide like the Ferris and has a lower center of gravity making it a better hill mower.
