  • A tour of the 4 hydroponic rail systems I have set up in my home basement, growing lettuce, strawberries, flowers, swiss chard, spinach, stevia, sage, basil, and more!

Love to see it. You’re who got me into starting my own system up.

Awesome tour! Need to try some of these. The one herb that I prefer is thyme. It is otherwordly and I can never grow enough. You might also like mustard greens.

Looks very nice. Useful content. In herb's and strawberry system, also use white led light? Kindly inform please.

Love all your content and creativity!
Are you using the same nutrients (Masterblend complete?) in each of the reservoirs?

I was wondering the same thing.

I use Masterblend with the greens, and a mix of Maxigro and MaxiBloom for strawberries.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Have you ever had problems with pests? And how do you deal with it? When I tried strawberries I had to shut down my hydroponic system and sanitize everything because the bugs loved them.. my experience is that it is almost impossible to get rid of the bugs while keeping the system running

Agreed, I've been very careful not to bring any plants outside and then back in. That has helped with bugs.

Agreed with SGH. I had to throw out everything due to aphids. Absolutely no plants from outside or the local nursery allowed! Everything from seed only and I have no problems so far.

Looks great, Makes me wish I had a basement or even an attached Garage, but alas I am using a corner of a unused bedroom for now. As I am just starting to experiment in Hydroponics, I am using the Kratky method to start. I just got my nutrients today so I will be getting going a bit more Tomorrow. I use electric heat here so i can control the room temperature a little easier than a furnace system. I see you are in you furnace room so that must create a issue with cold crops? What kind of temperature do you keep on your plants? Do you have to cool them or heat them differently? Happy gardening.

The furnace is in this room but doesn't actually heat the room by much. It's usually 65-70 F in this room so I don't do any special heating or cooling.

@@SimpleGreensHydroponics Thank you. When I had a furnace room that room always seemed hotter or cooler in the room depending on the seasons. This time I lowered the heat just a tad to keep in under 70, until I get brave enough to Try Tomato or peppers. lol

I have a very different kind of hydroponic system based on info from "Houcho" on youtube (essentially 2 inch PVC pipes that are fed with fluid and act as their own drain back to the reservoir - essentially completely sealed to possible leaks). Your system has some advantages vs. my current system, but what kind of issue do you have in your pvc fence post system that has several joints with leaks?

    • @SimpleGreensHydroponics

It's actually pretty easy to prevent leaks when using the bulkhead fittings. Just tighten them down and use thread tape. I haven't had leaks.

What cycle are you running the systems on? Lights and pumps.

You are growing the lettuce to close together plants need room for air to move around the leaves

If he is still using what he recommended years ago they’re Viagrow organic grow plugs.
