Indoor Tomatoes and Peppers!

- I recently grew dwarf tomatoes and peppers in my hydroponic rail system and it worked pretty well! I've used a similar hydroponic rail system to grow lettuce, herbs, strawberries and a growing list of other things.

So awesome with the tomatoes! Can’t wait for a strawberry update. Have been on the edge of buying your course, trying to save up for making a rail system for strawberries! Hope the new rails or going good
I’m so excited to see dwarf tomatoes growing in a rail like that❤ How far apart are the holes you drilled for the net cups! Great video! I’m definitely going to do this! 🥰
I drilled them 24" apart to give lots of space for foliage and roots.
I don't understand the pepper plant size issue. Can't you prune them so they stay short and grow bushier instead?
Hey big fan of your stuff:) can you please try to plant some bigger plants to test like growing corn or something:)
Instead of expanding more do some trimming 😂 the other suggestion would be to have them rails low and the lights higher to hang those tomatoes from the highest point there 😂 but I love the setup and will be setting it up soon to give it a shot in my garage.
I'm really inspired by your video's and want to build one. Can you provide the info on that rack.. and maybe how much width do I need for a 3 rail setup for lettuce? Thanks again for expertise.
Can you tell us the names of the varieties you are growing ? Thanks
Tiny Tim Tomato and Mohawk Pepper - I added links for each one in the video description.
I'm learning so much from your videos. Thanks! Have you tried the Kratky method with your rails?
I haven't. I like having a circulating system to improve dissolved oxygen and to give easier access to the nutrient solution.
@@SimpleGreensHydroponics I'm hoping to setup a rail system like yours but make it static with Kratky. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing!
What Is you NPK pH and PPM
Are the Peppers self pollinating?
What height is the lighting for tomatoes and peppers (as compared to lettuce and strawberries)?
I have the lighting around 20" above the top of the rail and that seemed to work well. So a few inches higher than lettuce.
how much is the ppfd or PAR and DLI
Could please link what LED light are you using? I am struggling to pick something - so many choices...
same here!
Yeah sure thing! Just added the link to the video description. I highly recommend these - low cost and easy to set up.
@@SimpleGreensHydroponics Thank you! I still have to research what is their EU alternative, but this is great starting point
You could just prune the tops, nodes enough to grow from :)
I really want to set up a hydroponics system but my main concern is the moisture inside the home causing mold or rot, do you think it would be an issue?
It's something to watch, but I haven't noticed a big increase in my humidity. A small dehumidifier keeps up with several hydroponic systems in my home.
What temperature should the area be when growing indoor hydroponics? Does that matter?
15-30 C
Could you explain how you control pests and insects without using any pesticides and insecticides. I find it extremely hard.
That's always a challenge. I've had success with this grow by being extremely careful not bring anything from outdoors near my system.
Do you do anything to prevent algae growing on top of the plugs? Thank you!
Keeping the plugs just lightly moist helps. Once the plants grow larger they block light to the plugs and there's usually no issue.
@@SimpleGreensHydroponics Thank you! Really enjoying the setup you designed. Already harvesting some! Keep it up
hey broo what's the price of basil per lb in your country ?
Very expensive and it can range depending on the store and how it's grown. Wegmans sells it for $2.99 USD for 2oz. So multiply that by 8 and you get $23.92 a lb for fresh basil leaves. Walmart is even worse at $3.96 a oz for organic fresh basil which multiplied by 16 is $63.36 a lb. Very good to grow cheaply in a system like this. Hope this helps give you a idea. Of course sometimes you can get discounts or get it cheaper.
@@400tenchu thanks .... can you use instagram ?
What light is that?
Barrina grow lights - I just added a link in the video description if you want to check them out.
