  • If your ECHO PAS system’s drive shaft slides out, the following video will help. It may also give you an idea of what is wrong for similar attachment systems, such as STIHL Kombi, RedMax Maxtreme, or Husqvarna L, LD, LK, and LDX trimmers.
    Part numbers used:
    DRIVESHAFT - FLEXIBLE - C506000550

    Thank you, thank you thank you. My PAS shaft started falling out about 1.5 years ago and I couldn't figure out why, so I would just push it back in and go back to work. Now I can fix it. Great video!

    I do not have an echo like you but I have the STHIL KM 111R Which like yours I can put a number of $259.00 a piece attachments on after watching your video I do believe this is what happened to mine. But the great employees I have lost the shaft inside how IDK 😐 but I just ordered the parts I need and should be up and running in two to three business days or however long it takes the parts to get here. The bummer is this is the only one I have that will use the attachments all my others are just straight whips.
    Thank you soo much for the video because I would have just ordered the inside shaft not knowing the reason why it failed and now that I look inside the part the attachments go into I see one side has a chamfer to catch that ring again thanks for the video

      Please do! Hopefully that washer is the main fail point as it was a very easy fix!

  • @drivecam101
    @drivecam101 4 года назад +2

    Spring steel is very hard so a thin washer like that is protecting the soft aluminum from wear. Of course if the spring steel washer wears out then the aluminum is not protected and wears out too and the drive shaft falls out.
    Also the drive shaft being able to fall out is only annoying, it doesn't stop the unit from working.

    Well I thought it was the washer that failed because it wasn't in there when I took it apart so I ordered a new washer and it came but it doesn't fit in so I'm assuming it's the wrong size washer that they gave me or that coupler is worn.

    I have the echo pas 2620 and it was the washer that failed. I think I broke it when I was hacking through some old growth on some hedges. I used it broken like this for an entire season till I finally remember to order the new part

    I have a PAS ECHO SPLIT SHAFT when I use the pruner pointing up in the air it works. When I use it horizontally it comes out of gear. I have replaced the upper drive shaft with no success. The lower looks fine. Am I missing something?

    I had the same problem a few years ago. I actually lost my shaft and had to order a new one. I never even checked why but the new one still came out for a while, but not lately. My problem now is the two shafts stick together when I try to get them apart. Hope eReplacementparts has the parts diagram so I can do some disassembly.

    Which do you like/use more mid reach or articulating hedge trimmer attachment?

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  4 года назад

      Mid reach! I haven't used the articulating since I got them. I am sure it just depends on the shrubs you cut, but between two extensions and ladders, I haven't needed the articulating.

    Great video. My issue is a lil different. Today I went to switch from the string trimmer to a hedge trimmer attachment and the inner shaft for the string trimmer got stuck still attached inside of the motor head shaft. I finally got it out and now I cant put any attachments on the motor head shaft. I took the coupler off and it pulls the motor head inner shaft out with it and it's still attached to the coupler
