Who made Undertale? I'm not talking about Toby Fox, I'm asking in the world (or worlds) of Undertale and Deltarune, who MADE it all? Gaster had many experiments and there are many clues that point to Deltarune being a result of his machinations. Equally, there is Kris. I just noticed something. In the secret part of sans house that you could enter in undertale there was a picture with 3 characters and the words "don't forget". Well in the outro song for deltarune the lyrics of the last line in the song is "DONT FORGET I'm with you in the dark". Also there's a long pause between her singing the line before and singing don't forget as if to make it extra important. Also I think if I'm not mistaken the song I called don't forget. Just a random thought I wanted to get out there even tough noone will probably see this since this video is pretty old.

The first to lines reference entry 17 saying “when the shadows start to grow” talking about how his story went wrong. The next line is “when the places that you know seem like fantasy” sans as given up

I have a theory that I believe is the best one yet
1. In Undertale if you find Sans secret room with the broken machine, blueprints, etc. You find a picture that shows people you don’t know and that says “Don’t forget”
2. In chapter 1 of Deltarune there is a song in the credits that is called “Don’t forget” ft. Laura Shigihara that goes There's a light inside your soul

I'm with you in the dark.
3. What if Sans knew about this alternate universe already and got a picture of the friend group and wrote “Don’t forget” because it might have been the best possible universe where everyone is happy and peaceful.

In Undertale, there is a character known as "Clam Girl" in Waterfall who talks to you about meeting their neighbor "Suzy", and after the game ends, she says that "the time you meet is fast approaching", hinting at Susie from Deltarune.

Theory: Gaster used to be a scientist/teacher at the school, (in the empty room) who found the portal to the dark world coincidentally in the school. He then set up a lab, and went into the dark world. He fought his way back to the real world, but he wasn’t the hero of the prophecy, so it instead sent him to the world of Undertale. He wasn’t the hero, so he couldn’t return back. He set up a lab, meeting people he knew from the world of Deltarune in the underground. He enlisted Alphys’ and Sans’ help, and got to work extracting and infusing determination into monsters. He eventually made a mistake, resulting in an accident bringing him to the dark world again. He found Jevil, and made friends with him, regaling stories of the underground, and teaching him about choices, and the futility of them. All the while, Gaster was trying to find a way back. He never did. One day he found a strange glowing orb. It was calling to him. He reached out to it, and felt power. A strange feeling engulfed him for a moment, and then he went on. He then lived out the rest of his life, and on the day of his death realized he still had so much to learn. He tried to keep his eyes open, as he was determined to live. Eventually they closed, and he saw a blinding light. He was back at that exact moment where he touched the orb.
I think the save file that Kris overrides is Gasters, and that being in the accident with the Determination Extractor infused him with determination. He then went on the Flowey path, trying and testing everything he could to leave the dark world. It eventually drove him mad, so he ran and hid, waiting for the hero to release him back to the real world. I don’t know why he gave Kris the egg, but I know it will end up playing a part somehow. Gaster will return in Deltarune Part 2. This world is his experiment.

I think to add
in Jekyll's story, he dies because of his negligent ways of handling his experiment.
Similarly, Gaster could have easily become what he is due to negligence.

There’s also another reference to deltarune in undertale! It’s probably new since I just downloaded it on the switch but if you talk to Gerson and ask about the deltarune on his wall new information will show up connecting to deltarune’s prophecy. Also if Clam Girl shows up in your game she will mention “a girl Suzy who is around your age”

Yeah, the delta rune is present in the original game (unless Toby changed some stuff up). The prophecy Gerson mentions in Undertale is different from the Deltarune prophecy.
Undertale: an angel will descend from heaven and there will be no more monsters in the underground (either pacifist, meaning you free everyone, or genocide meaning you kill everyone)
Deltarune: when the balance of light and dark is ruined, as the earth draws her final breath, three heroes will gather to destroy the angel's heaven (btw, this is completely unexplained in Deltarune, because Chapter 1 is about sealing the 2nd fountain of darkness...)
Maybe of the different endings of Undertale, tge real one is that Asriel did rewrite history like he said he was going to.
Funny how no one ever seems to mention that in Undertale, Gerson Boom talks about Deltarune, and yeah that was always in the game

Looking back at this after playing chapter 2 (spoilers by the way) I wonder if the DT extractor was originally made by Gaster as a way to experiment with the creation of dark worlds, as we learn in chapter 2 that determination is what’s needed to create a darkness fountain.

In the ending of chapter two, Kris stabs the ground and darkness starts pouring out. The fountains are made of darkness. Maybe Gaster has something to do with it?
Why does MatPat keep saying this is a world where the the war between humans and monsters didn't happen? Sure, the monsters are living on the surface, but you don't see any other humans except Kris....who is adopted. Why wouldn't this be more a world where there was a war, but the monsters won, and Kris is one of probably many leftover parentless children who were adopted and integrated into the now dominant monster society? Undyne not loosing an eye does not point out there was no war; it only shows it was a successful war for the monsters. Many military in the real world choose a profession in law enforcement after serving because of its military like structure. Therefore Undyne has two eyes and is a cop. But that's just a thought derived from evidence that may or may not be proven.
This is interesting and would explain some things. I did wonder why would Kris be the only human living with the monsters where did they come from and how they ended up there
Like maybe Asgore and/or Toriel killed their parents and adopted them because they felt guilty
This is something I've been pointing out a while too! A possible evidence for this theory is that one monster, saying Kris is the only human they have ever seen. Which begs the question of, are humans uncommon?

My guess human and monster society in this world is much more urbanized and therefore more people are concentrated in the cities
Because at the beginning of Undertale it says "Two races, Humans and Monsters, rulled the Earth" it sounds like they lived somehow together (otherwise, if they didn't know of each others existence, they wouldn't have started a war) so if there wasn't a war at all why would humans and monsters be so apart from each other and monsters would not even mention humans to their kids? Like I get each race having their own kingdom or country or whatever, but wouldn't they trade and sell things? Or share stories and knowledge or technologies? Maybe there wasn't an actual bloodsheding genocidal war but if the humans were alive they are probably not in peace.
And I wonder if the same thing happened in Undertale's timeline: after the war either the newer generations of humans not knowing about the existence of monsters or orphan monsters being adopted by humans, that'd be interesting (and a good idea for a fan game)

Also something interesting I noticed, in Deltarune chapter 2 it becomes apparent that the monsters on the surface can’t actually do magic, as Noelle comments that she could do magic in the real world and a few other NPC’s comments about occult studies. Which in a way implies that Undertale takes place in a post Roaring world where darkness has consumed everything, which is why we don’t see any darkners and why all monsters can do magic

1. Well the barrier would have to function in an entirely different way, since monster SOULs dont have DT, meaning you can't break the barrier with them.
2. That wouldn't make sense for Kris to be up there. Every monster was forced into the underground in Undertale.
Also: Just because there's only a few humans around in Deltarune I feel that it's probably because some towns are more popular than others to different races. We see this today with some towns being majority black or majority white, or majority German, Irish, etc.

Also, Undertale directly mentions Susie, by way of her mother mentioning her, and her dialogue in the Switch version says we'll meet Susie soon... as in when deltarune comes out.

The shadow world may have been Gasters first attempt at making something new, as he wanted to fix the world, rewrite it with determination, thus he fell into the world. Then from the shadow world he created deltarune's normal seeming world. That's why all the characters are the same. He couldn't get rid of people, but he could change the world around them.
Gaster's one letter away from Caster, as in a caster of spells. Since Gaster is kind of there and kind of not, maybe he's a Ghost. A Ghost Caster. A Gaster.

Monsters in many media come along with darkness, and its with darkness that monsters become horryifing and powerful.
Altrough it seems that this dark world comes from the minds of susie and kris, this doesn't mean that the dark world doesn't exist. Undertale was a self aware game, and probably, the games inside this game are also self aware too.
A game of cards that is self aware. All because of a certain man. Gaster.
Sans also is related to gaster, and because of that, he knows about the timelines and the "world being a game".
Also, if deltarune is an anagram of undertale, and its like a mirror... We have lancer, which is a sort of mirrors papyrus and sans. We also have the king. and even a self-aware jester that could represent sans, or maybe gaster just messed him up.
But what about the character that mirrors flowey?
The knight is referenced by seam while its name is in red.
I think this knight holds determination, and much like flowey before frisk had fallen into the underground, it has messed up the dark world trying to archieve something.

Clam girl is apparently a Goner who knows about an encounter with someone special which was also mentioned in the creation screen when typing Susie in Deltarune. After an interaction in Undertale, you get something different inside the drawer that utters the words "don't forget" which is also the lyrics in Deltarune's credits.

Honestly, a great place to jump back into it is to watch the videos you haven’t so far (there are 16 as of rn), and then watch the investigation series by the channel Nightmare Masterclass.
