2022 MHSAA D7 Football Finals: Jackson Lumen Christi 15 vs TC St. Francis 12 (November 26, 2022)

The 2022 MHSAA Division 7 State Championship Game saw a pair of the most accomplished high school football programs in Michigan face off. With 24 Finals appearances between them entering the game, Jackson Lumen Christi met Traverse City St. Francis in what was anticipated as one of the best finals matchups of 2022.
The two schools had met back in Week 2 of the regular season, with St. Francis winning a hard fought contest on the road, 42-35 at Lumen Christi.
In the rematch at Ford Field, the two schools played a much more defensively dominated game. By forcing two critical two turnovers, St. Francis carried a 12-0 lead into the 4th quarter, and appeared to be on their way to their first state championship victory since 2009.
It was then the Titans of Lumen Christi mounted their comeback, scoring two touchdowns in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter. First it was senior quarterback Joe Lathers on an 18-yard run that cut the score to 12-7, and then just four minutes later, Derrick Walker plowed into the end zone from two yards out to give Jackson Lumen Christi the lead for good. Alex Pastoriza put the game away with his fourth quarter interception, and the Titan offense never let St. Francis get the ball back.
In a hard fought 15-12 victory was Lumen Christi's 12th all-time state championship, and the 396th career victory for legendary head coach Herb Brogan.
Matt Shepard (play-by-play) and former Detroit Lions tight end Rob Rubick (analyst) called the game for Bally Sports Detroit.
