@@TonyPearl Actually all of the 20th century was good for music. The genres we listen to nowadays developed in that time. It had many memorable decades like the 60's, 70's and 80's, but one thing is sure: the nineties were the last great decade for music, where everything really innovative was already done, but it simply blended into many styles, and then Y2K happened.
The violin solo @ 2:49 totally ties the piece together - still one of my fave moments in all the music I've listened to. Incredibly beautiful with that delay/echo effect!

Pasé años buscando esta canción. No conocia el nombre o quién la cantaba, solo el "Arararara, rara...." Ahora si puedo morir en paz (Greetings from Uruguay)
Marta's Song is about a girl, who cries that she has a big sorrow, which is that three units of red ribbon do not fit her. The Csángó people used (and somewhere still use) a long ribbon as a belt, which was whipped round them three times (one round whipping was called "mérő", which also means unit os measure). The girls used a red ribbon. So what happens if someone can't whip round her three times? She does not fit her belt anymore, because... there is something wrong with her.
Well, I know about your country Hungary and what this song on this clip is about and about this red ribbon some peoples are using three times around their stomach :) I found about this on the website I came across some years ago :)

Thank you very much for all the information about this beautiful and sensitive song. God bless you and God of hungarians save Hungary!🙏
Bonjour
Bonjour, french friend !
Hungarians are OK, but Orban.... 🤮🤮🤮
This woman's voice is like an angel's thread which entwines the heaven's together. Breathtaking.
👩
Márta is a huge talent...a national treasure. Long time ago hungarian Womens with good voices used to sing like this. I heard them many times originally. On one occasion, I was lucky enough to talk with Márta for 15-20 minutes, and our place of origin is also close within Hungary...VAS county... She is also a great woman as a person!
agree since i was young so spiritual this song goosebumps now i know its folklore of my soul sisters
I was working in Hungary in the 90s when this album came out. When I saw that Deep Forest was playing in Budapest there was no chance of missing the concert.
Thank you for good memories.
Greetings from Finland.
I am not crying, you are crying! Thank you Deep Forest. Timeless classic.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one amazed by this crazy music as a kid. Was like I was in a dream state my entire high school years listening to this kind of music. I remember feeling like I could move objects with my mind while listening to Deep forest and Enigma and Enya.

oh wow the 90s !!!! Best decade in music !! Life was so simple in those days ! ....;)
Yes, the 90's was a great decade for music, but I have to disagree with you... the 80's was the BEST decade for music. Everybody knows that!
Yes. 20th century was awesome. 70s,80s,90s were brilliant. But 80s was the best for me.
The violin solo @ 2:49 totally ties the piece together - still one of my fave moments in all the music I've listened to. Incredibly beautiful with that delay/echo effect!
Agrée, it is sublime.
Also, my favorite moment on this track! This alternate bass riff that accompanies the solo is mind-blowing!....
@@w7class YES!!!! So glad you appreciate this too!
Love from india. Martha is a legend. ❤️

Deep Forest brings back so many memories with my childhood.
Still to this day, Deep Forest maintains its beautiful and unique aesthetic.
Pasé años buscando esta canción. No conocia el nombre o quién la cantaba, solo el "Arararara, rara...."
Ahora si puedo morir en paz
(Greetings from Uruguay)
Marta's Song is about a girl, who cries that she has a big sorrow, which is that three units of red ribbon do not fit her. The Csángó people used (and somewhere still use) a long ribbon as a belt, which was whipped round them three times (one round whipping was called "mérő", which also means unit os measure). The girls used a red ribbon. So what happens if someone can't whip round her three times? She does not fit her belt anymore, because... there is something wrong with her.
Wow, you know a lot about my country. Appreciate this thorough explanation. :) Bravo.
Well, I know about your country Hungary and what this song on this clip is about and about this red ribbon some peoples are using three times around their stomach :) I found about this on the website I came across some years ago :)
Håkon Stenseth Very interesting
The most part of Csango people lives in Romania, not in Hungary. In Hungary it's just a smaller number of Csango's. hu.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Csán ;)
Andreea Szakacs It's still an interesting story.
That violin solo tho, magnificent!
This is a marvelous folk hungarian song.

Love and memories from Norway 🇳🇴
Thank you very much for all the information about this beautiful and sensitive song. I would like to find and listen the original version of this hungarian ancient song.
You can find here the original song:
(I think it is Csángó dialect of Hungarian)
