Silence. Not a word from family about a memorial service. She may have wanted privacy at the end of her life. Irene did it her way. Life was kind, then cruel. She deserves to be honored and remembered at her best. To all who knew her, pray she is at peace in another realm where pain does not exist.
❤Indeed. I pray GOD that M. Cara is at peace. I pray GOD that Ms. Cara knows the joy, tenderness and happiness that Ms. Cara gave to so many hearts and souls. Ms. Cara. We love you ❤❤❤❤
Even alotta Irene Cara's off the radar stuff was pretty awesome. Why Me, The Dream, Now That It's Over, Anyone Can See, Falling In Love, movies like Sparkle and Certain Fury, Alex Haley's "Roots The Next Generation" as Alex Haley's grandmother Bertha Haley, and a bunch of off-Broadway work. Irene Cara had ALOT more material than just Fame and Flashdance.
That should not have happened. A talented woman like that and no one came to her rescue? But then, the focus was on Whitney Houston starting in 1985 and everyone else was forgotten. Evelyn Champagne King talks about that. I had a career then came Whitney Houston.
@@ayeshamartin_868 She sued her record label and won and after that others record labels wouldn't touch her when you speak up about your money you become a threat in the entertainment industry sad but true
@@MariaAntoinetteF - I love Irene, but what does Whitney have to do with it? From what I gathered, Irene was (figuratively) screwed by her record label and/or industry executives who didn’t like her, for whatever reason. Whitney and Irene were both amazing talents. And Whitney always seemed supportive of her peers, despite her own challenges and demons. God rest both of their souls. How lucky we are to have witnessed both of them at the height of their talent and careers…♥♥♥
Hi Mitch Thanks for your reply. I just had this conversation with another singer friend last night. When Whitney Houston started in 1985 with “You give good love” every other female singer was basically forgotten about. Eveylyn Champagne King talks about this all the time. Opportunities for female singers dried up. Whitney was the star “of her generation.” Irene had two-three hits under RSO records. They produced The Bee Gees Andy Gibb Fame Night Fever etc. Then they put out Sgt Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band movie staring Peter Frampton and the company went under. Irene Cara came in on the tail end of RSO fame on 1982 ish and was tied up in the sell off of RSO which the top execs were Robert Stigwood and record executive Al Coury. Her pay went into the sell off of RSO to polygram and she never got paid spent 10 yrs suing them. And life went on. Nobody wanted to hire her she was blacklisted. That’s the story.
I wonder over time if she started to hate that song since every clip of her is her singing that song. It was an amazing song but she was more talented than just that song. May she Rest In Peace 🙏🏾
Black peoples love Sparkle , probably working with Curtis Mayfield must have been great thill, people wrote some really beautiful comments about Irene, she played Sparkle Williams ,nic role that will be beloved by black community forever, my daughter is lucky I didn’t name her sparkle,I wish did a Spike Lee movie, he put the whole cast from Sparkle in his Films, expect Sparkle ,
Who’s here in 2024? Come check out my podcast “GenX Gon Give It To Ya” where I dedicate episode 4 to the amazing Irene Cara on 1/9/25. She is never forgotten! ❤️❤️❤️
May she rest in peace Eternal peace she did her best and we all got to check out time and it's time to launch out in a time to land when you go to a hospital and a child is born that is still their time to check in and when we leave this world the time to check out let her rest in peace and don't bad mouth her you don't have to she did her best she gave to the world she didn't waste the breath and she had a purpose and may God always be with her what a wonderful human being she will always be and pray for her and pray for her family and take good care of yourself and stop judging those people and show business that is not an easy business to deal with take care
I still don't understand why some of the big names in entertainment who now say they loved her - Mariah Carey - Debbie Allen - Lenny Kravitz - Shonda Rhimes - etc. - didn't help Irene over the years after she won the lawsuit against her corrupt label. They should have helped her get a new recording deal and cast her in big film/tv roles. RIP
@@JesusisLvfds6400 So true and awfully tragic. I am listening to some tracks from Carasmatic now - sounds so good! Can't believe the label didn't get to release/promote properly in 1987 because of the lawsuit. Bet it would have been a big hit!

she was 46 years old during this performance but was still full of energy and still able to sing live, thats talent!💞

That was the name of the TV program not the song.
