Epiphone are subcontracted. Some of the Chibsons are made in the same exact factories on the same machinery by the same sweatshop workers.....same can be said for Squire .

I've done the wiring on several of these, I'm good at it now. I just hotrodded my Epiphone 335 with Duncan '59 blues PAF's, and I put a switchcraft toggle in while I had the wiring out

I just put a split coil push-pull pot on my epiphone 335, it was a nightmare. the pickups had a single cable coming out of themz I had to disassemble the whole pickup and solder new leads. The worst part was putting everything back together through the F holes.

Yeah it’s fake, yeah it doesn’t sound great, BUT if I put in new pickups it sounds and looks awesome, I don’t care if it’s fake, as long as it’s cool it’s fine for me

AS A PRO TECH, my advice is... first thing: Get a pro fret dressing and set-up. This includes all lower to med priced Epiphones as well. Next, change out the output Jack to a Switchcraft dbl-sprung jack or a clone of one. If you like the guitar after you do this, consider new pick ups and an L-shaped toggle switch, preferably Switchcraft or a clone. Virtually all Asian made guitars except for PRS and Schecter need fret work immediately. You'll know this because the high action it comes with hides poor fretwork (aka most guitars at GC). I get these guitars on my bench virtually every day at my shop. Yes there are always exceptions to this rule. This is not just some scare tactic to get you to spend money. If you're capable of doing a good job of all this yourself, go nuts. Just don't get used to it playing like crap and you making excuses for it.

Not every Luthier or store will want to work on this guitar. That's another delusion people have when buying these guitars, they expect me to clear my schedule to bail someone out so I can work on a Chibson? How exciting.

My opinion is, as long as you don't try to pass them for the real thing then it's ok, a lot of the sellers on Ali can and will remove the brand name from the headstock and other palces if you ask them to

Pick guard shape is wrong. The selector switch top should be white and the pick guard frackett on a Gibson at the outer bottom does not require a screw. It has a rubber tip.

The Chinese Epiphone shop closes at 5:00. An hour later re opens, in comes the night crew and Chibsons are born. The weekly payoff keeps the ball rolling. I don't know if that's the case ? Could be. Frank Zappa told the story of an old trick Warner Bros records did in the late 60's to make more money, press more records then ship them to national retailers without the artist every knowing. I own a couple of Chibsons, like the man said " don't pass them off for the real thing" Peace

Fender and Gibson would never do business with a company that made Chibsons and Chenders as a side hustle. There are 6 major factories in China (Samick, Cort and 4 others with funny names) and Ali guitars are not made at any of these Factories.

@@ryant3600 Because there is practically no use to buy a guitar with Gibson branding if it's not a Gibson. You realize that's not actually a Gibson just because it says Gibson on the headstock? These are chinese crap and it's better to buy something like an Ibanez, Yamaha or an Epiphone - if you can't afford a Gibson - where there has at least been some sort of QC. Or better still buy something used. You're flooding the market with fakes, you are potentially risking legal issues, you are potentially ruining your reputation if you're planning any form of career in the industry. Also, no warranty. Just a daft move any way you look at it...

As a lefty it's usually because the legit manufacturers refuse to make x models for us. Not using the vid as immediate reference, but some options they give us are so stupidly priced when compared to what a RH player can get, it's sometimes the only route. I'd rather pay the legit manufactrers, but they don't want my money 🤷‍♂️
