Let me put it like this: I never played any of the FF7 spinoff games. Remake was my first experience with the FF7 world/story, though I was vaguely familiar with the story beats. I played the original after beating Remake and picked up Rebirth the day it came out. And even I knew how god damn special this moment was.

One thing people fail to realize is that when Cloud and Zack are fighting back to back, they hold a buster sword. They are literally using the same sword. Cloud took Zack's sword in his timeline, but Zack never lost it in his meaning they both wield it in their own timelines. Now that they are interconnected in that fight, they are both wielding it meaning they are literally using the same sword. Not copies, not similar, identical, or replicas. It's literally the same. Blows my mind with this kind of stuff
Guys who played Crisis Core and went to this definitely enjoyed this moment, especially the Angeal's motto "Embrace your dreams...and whatever happens... protect your honor as a SOLDIER!"
Zack with the actual sword from he's glory days in crisis core made me teary, i know this is a zack variant but it's still him no matter what universe or timeline he existed... It brought me back to remembering my childhood as i was playing crisis core
I really wish they waited till the last game because cloud's mind is still messed up. He hasnt grown as a character yet so he wont truly appreciate zack being there. Not to mention the ending kinda ruining that much needed sadness that cloud grows from yet again. Idk i get the fan service but in service to cloud a lot is lost and im wondering whats going to be the reason for cloud to grow because these traumatic losses are necessary for him to be the man hes supposed to be and accept himself.
The traumatic loss is him coming to terms with his entire life being a lie. He realizes Aerith is truly dead and has to accept she can’t be with them anymore.

I hope Zack takes a larger role in the 3rd story, cuz he pretty much symbolized 'hope' in Rebirth, where Cloud is going into a dark place. As a Crisis Core fanboy, I hope Cloud turns into the final boss and Zack becomes the protagonist.

Same. I'm dead silent when these moments happen. I express later after I've processed it. I know some people naturally react right away, and these streamers are sorta paid to do so, but I feel they miss so many details. And I dunno if they truly get to enjoy the spectacle.
I don't think most of them are doing it for views... I played it alone in my house with no one, and I still screamed and freaked out. This is just who I am, I react to stuff, and I can't stay silent. Different people do different stuff
The game may have failed at its most critical moment. But this whole story better end on the highest of notes. A true miracle better come in the last installment.
It failed only as so far as to focus less on the shock value of Aeriths death and more on doubling down on other elements like Clouds Mental Illness and the fact he can communicate with Aerith after death(like you see at the end of OG and Advent Children) That's just an OG fans 2 cents

At what point is this not consistent with the lore? The lore has always been these group of fighters try and save the planet from Jenova. Given that the Lifestream is extremely powerful, and Jenova is as well, it lends itself to a lot of content. I mean there is literally TIME MATERIA in the game suggesting that the lifestream, if harnessed in the right way, could functionally turn back time or split off.

Never, in any game, in the film or in any animation, was it mentioned or pointed out that there are dementors, time travel, multiverse, etc. Using Time Materia to support this is pushing the envelope. In fact, don't get me wrong, although I'm disappointed with this, the rest of the game, where it is faithful to or expands on the OG lore, is fantastic.

Just because the OG game had Diamond, Ruby, Emerald and the other Weapons present does not mean that they are the only form of defense the planet has. Also, and by all means I could be wrong, but Bugenhagen in the original states that the lifestream itself exists out of time and space, suggesting that the lifestream itself is capable of such shinnanigans.
