Before tidus jumps off wakka looks away. Because Wakka loses his little brother twice, since Lulu and Wakka said tidus resembled wakka's little brother.
Omg I never put that together O.O as I got older I always thought it was because back then all the characters had to be doing something in the FMV. You just made this scene so much better and harder for me XD
This has the best cinematic experience. IX probably has the most sad ending. VII has the best villain (can't wait for his mansion madness scene in remake part 2)!
agreed. I would consider ff10 probably the best story out of all, and it isn't even my favorite one of the series. The thing that hits the most in ff10, is that you learn your player character (tidus) will disappear when sin is defeated, half way throught the story. As the story starts, to as it builds to the end, something you don't realize is that, Yuna becomes the protagonist. most of the plot is driven by her, and not by Tidus anymore. Heck the moment he meets her, it starts to shape to be her story. Then Tidus disappears, some one who came into her life, helped her on her goals, saved her from her mistakes, bonded deeply, and stood with her through to the end, only to find out he will vanish because that was his purpose.
The parting isn't the hardest, it's the absence and reminiscing. That's why although Tidus and Yuna scene is super sad, what hit me the most was when Yuna in her speech she added "or that dreams that faded... never forget them".
The part where Yuna says "The people and friends we've lost and the dreams that have faded...never forget them" makes me tear up every single damn time! D;
When she whistles to the sea over and over. That is super sad but people don't seem recognize what she's really doing. I'm telling ya she's whistling to the sea every day for years because Tidus promised he'll come running.
People usually praise the story and the music of this scene, but the thing I feel we fail to mention is how utterly fantastic the animation is. The subtle yet powerful expression of the characters is simply amazing. Seeing Tidus walk away, then stop for a moment in hesitation, then mustering his conviction again just to continue walk way.
I love how Japanese culture use real elements of human emotion, where as in America its become something rare. Anime like Naurto and so many others tell a story coming from a real place that you feel it, it becomes something you will always admire and cherish. Its been more than 10 yrs and I've never forgotten about this moment. What Yuna said isn't just in a video game. Its part of the principles of real life.
This is one of the best game Ive ever played. The story, the gameplay, the music, everything is perfectly matched. And i will restart the 5th time tonight. God damn cry everytime at this ending
Hell yeah we're heartbroken; The idea of saying goodbye to those you love and not being able to ever see them again as nothing can change the outcome, you'd best believe it'll make even the most manly man shed tears.
Makes me genuinely happy bc it means that they aren’t afraid to express even a little emotion at this heart wrenching scene. Which is good. This ending takes your heart and stomps on it and you’re left saying “Great game I’m now dead inside.”
Man... the fact that everyone goes totally silent for those last moments of Yuna and Tidus together just tells you how powerful the storytelling is in this game. UGH it's so effin' good.
Bro in the bottom left was broken, but mans on the top left, that's gut's descendant. Not a single tear, no words, he just felt it and struggled forward like a chad
I've played this too many times to tear up at the scenes by themselves, but these reactions had me blowing my nose a bit. Watching the impact it has on other people seeing it for the first time pulls on my empathy... You know what does get me every time though, even though it's pixelated and not voice acted? FFT, when Olan says, "Ramza, you're not alone! You have friends! Allies who'd give their lives! I'm one of them!"
Man, however many years later I still cry as hard as I did the first time I saw the ending. When those trumpets kick in during the ending theme and Tidus wraps his arms around her, fuck lol. That part and "the dreams that have faded" line with the flashbacks T_T
Actually no. It has a wonderful story (what eventually made this my fav game of FF series). But the very linear world design, the missing option to actually fly the airship (or ride the chocobo elsewhere than the Calm Lands) ... well and for German players the divergent forced English audio with subtitles that translate the Japanese lines xD ... avert this game from being perfect. Still, awesome in so many ways (story, characters, combat system, level system, side quests, music)
@@kuroneko9327 - I only typed 2 short and obvious sentences, literally including the phrase "(I know you're not...)". If you didn't get the joke then that's fine, just move on. I don't see a point continuing here as I have the strong sense that you will most likely disregard anything I type here anyway.
I bought ffx2 just for the ending when it came out I was hoping they'd find each other again. Didn't care for the game much but loved the ending when they reunited.
When this game first came out, the animation was so ahead of its time, my jaw dropped when I first saw the opening ceremony of blitz ball league, everyone here in Japan had a short Tidus was wearing, this game was before the internet became mainstream so everyone was hooked to it, even 40 year olds
The single best ending of any FF game known to man today. Whether you played it over 20 years ago, or 20 hours ago, whether you are black, white, asian, male, female everyone reacted the exact same way. The extra emotional hit of this game would not have been able to be accomplished without the absolutely masterful skill of Nobuo Uematsu and his score.
Welcome to what makes Final Fantasy the series it is. From IV forward.....story and emotion are key in every single one of them. Rydia losing her mother, and so many more. Perhaps Krile losing her grandfather Galuf, who sacrificed himself to save the crew from X-Death. Celes and Locke's story line. Losing Cid (If you do), Gau finding where he came from, and why he was abandoned to the Veldt. Cyan losing his wife and child, when Kefka poisoned Doma. When we laid Aerith in the water, and said goodbye for the final time. When Squall finally saved Rinoa from the sorceress imprisonment device, and they embraced. Vivi watching helpless as all the other mages were destroyed. Or Garnet saying goodbye to her mother. This right here that y'all just reacted to. I could just keep going on and through it. Even XIII, which is the bane of my Final Fantasy experience over the last 35 years, has some pulls in it. It is definitely what makes Final Fantasy what it is.
This game is still to this day a true masterpiece. It will always go down in history as one of the greatest storylines in all the final fantasy games in my opinion. I was in highschool when this game came out and i even cried like a baby at the ending scene when yuna ran to give him a hug and ran right threw him. It was hard to understand that he had to go too because he was never supposed to be a part of that timeline in Spira. Sin his dad was the one who put him there.
I kinda see this cutscene as the true end of an era for Final Fantasy yes FF9 is a celebration with the references and a fantasy world, not urban fantasy and this scene really feels like the end of everything we've been through as it began with defeating Garland to heading back to Zanarkand
🇯🇵I'm Japanese, and this is the first time I've heard that people overseas are impressed by a Japanese game. It is the greatest RPG ever produced by Japan, and I believe it will continue to be beloved even 100 years into the future. ARIGATO! from Japan.🍣🗻🗼
if you don't see the secret ending of the game than this is arguably one of the saddest FF endings especially because this is probably my favorite FF character cast just because there was some diversity in the cast but XV was the best band of brothers
Seeing all these people witness this moment is so wholesome. It has something so impactful, so important to this game. It's hard to find words for it 😭
This video shows that many people cry when they say I love you, but I think most Japanese people don't cry when they say I love you. Is it a difference in national character or culture?

I agree. 15 is number 2 for me
This has the best cinematic experience.

Best ending line they could have possibly chosen for the game
The moment that always gets me, i can try avoiding tears but then she says the line and they show the montage I can’t handle it😢
the guy in the top right REALLY needs to be quiet

and the expressions are better on ps2 .. the remake does take away a little bit of that emotions in the eyes eg.
Guy with glasses at top right took a critical hit at 3:04
