No matter how many times I watch this, I always end up tearing up. I just find it amazing how the author introduced us a charismatic character and literally made us love him in less than two hours, much that we ended up feeling sad he died, idk it's just so amazing to me how likable and lovable Renguko was to gain all of our hearts in such a short amount of time, it's really good writing there.
Plus he's terrifying in a way, this entire fight he was just screwing around with Rengoku lol Edit: To point it out even, Akaza says at one point: "It'd be a shame to kill you now!"
Its a shame we had rengoku for such a short period of time.. and on the other hand its impressive how i got to love a character that much in just one movie or a few episodes.. Set your heart ablaze !

Keep in mine that Rengoku didn't receive proper training from his father. When his mother died, his father became depressed and stopped training him, so he had to rely on the flame breathing books to further his skills. If his father hadn't lost his self, Rengoku might have lasted longer, maybe even survived long enough for the sun to come up.
If his father trained him properly up to this moment I'm sure he would've defeated Akaza and probably lived. Although most, if not all, current Hashira pretty much trained themselves considering many are using subbranches of breathing forms.

Akaza was desperate to escape. I was cornered that much. It's not only an ability, but also a heart. Mr. Rengoku was a strong-hearted person. after that fight, I decided to Name my 3rd son in honor of Rengoku. The last character that moved me like this was Jiraiya from Naruto and that will be the name of my 2nd son. I really didn't think it was possible for me to be inspired by a character even close to Jiraiya. But Rengoku came close, so close that it deserved that I honor it by naming a son after him...

Do people who say Rengoku is weak really watch this anime? Even though he didn't have any bruises and his sword wasn't red, he dealt a huge blow to the UPPER THREE by himself. This is on another level. And it's not a wasted death. Absolutely not. He provided emotional support not only to Tanjiro and the others, but also to everyone in Hashira, and guided them to growth. He didn't get any mark appear either like the others did in S3. So he was fighting completely stock. If he had gotten his Hashira mark, or whatever it's called, he would have won the fight without question.

If Rengoku had Hashira mark Akaza will never go against him so easy and underestimate him like he did this time. Top Three Kizukis are super OP so even 3 hashiras with marks are not enought to have certain victory. I dont know if you read manga, but in final arc you will find that Rengoku even with mark will be in disadvantage, because Akaza is nature enemy for peoples like him. Rengoku did great job, but he never could defeat Akaza solo.

We learned his story, his goals and motivations, and we continue to see his impact on the other characters all the way to the final arc. I mean, up to this point it's already been established that there's many Hashira from branched forms of breathing. Like Love Breathing, so I'd imagine Akaza hasn't fought a great many types of Hashira out there. Then there's cases like Inosuke where he made his own breathing technique
akaza was martial artist when he was human , of course he have always huge respect for strong peoples and he doesn't eat children and women , he have his own moral code even he become demon , for me , if they actually make akaza help tanjiro fighting uppermoon 1 and upper moon 2 probably look even more wonderful, we know akaza hates douma for two big reason and upper one for always bossing around.

It's crazy that Akaza and Kokushibo isn't completely defeated, Akaza could regenerate his head and obliterate Tan and Giyuu but he didn't. Koku was regenerating his head and his body but he got distracted by his looks and his past with Yoriichi so when he realized what he has become, he simply gave up and gave up his will to keep fighting

The more the battle prolong, Akaza's “battle spirit” will just read out the attack patterns of Rengoku as well as seeing the muscle movements, so it is scripted for Rengoku to die. Akaza is a strong character, his abilities, his “fighting spirit” and personality, all gives him an advantage over Rengoku. Plus, this is also Rengoku's first upper moon, he has no idea what he is up against.
It's been a while since i watched the movie but i noticed something here. Rengoku when he was using his last form he said " I will fulfil my duty, I won't let anyone die here" he didn't say something like "i will kill him with this attack" so in away i think Rengoku realised he couldn't kill Akaza.
I hope that when women who have watched this anime give birth to and raise children, they will teach their children that the strong have a duty to help the weak. This will enable them to inherit Kyojuro Rengoku's will.
akaza was just playing around with rengoku. rengoku had not reached his peak yet. and people who say that rengoku would have lasted longer and defeated akaza with the help of the sunrise are forgetting that, the stronger rengoku would have been, the harder akaza wouldve fought him and the result would still be the same. its called scaling.

as a fellow manga reader Akaza didn't commit suicide, he quite literally just decided to stop regenerating, but the moment Tanjiro cut his head he was already starting to disappear, when he attacked himself in order to not kill Giyuu and tanjiro, he could've just regenerate that as well. But instead, he just quite literally decided that he had enough and it was basically his wife the one that got him to just go to the afterlife

Akaza would 've killed Rengoku ancestors then there would be no flame blood line meaning Rengoku isn't taking birth.

Its amazing how this one particular character can stole all of our hearts with only 1 movie thats not even 2 hours long and left us empty and devastated when he dies at the end.

Koku was regenerating his head and his body but he got distracted by his looks and his past with Yoriichi so when he realized what he has become, he simply gave up and gave up his will to keep fighting

as a fellow manga reader Akaza didn't commit suicide, he quite literally just decided to stop regenerating, but the moment Tanjiro cut his head he was already starting to disappear, when he attacked himself in order to not kill Giyuu and tanjiro, he could've just regenerate that as well. But instead, he just quite literally decided that he had enough and it was basically his wife the one that got him to just go to the afterlife
