I've been using the black version for about a year now. Its a really good knife, I skinned three deer with it one day and all it needed was a stropping to get the edge back. It is comfortable though I could do without the jimping and a bit more swell in the scales. Nice compact sheath, fits tight to your side and well made. Nice review.
awesome review boyscout I've been wanting this knife but the price for the steel and kydex sheath it seemed to good to be true now seeing this it will be on my blade wall thankyou sir☺
I managed to grab both tan and black models off amazon a couple months ago for 40 each-love them both! tan one lives in a custom bushcraft leather sheath I made. I like it almost as much as my TOPS dragonfly. I don't know why so many people are down on imported steels, I use blades made from all over the world, (Steel Will is becoming a fav with me, just got the Courage 310). The metal has improved over the 90s cheap fleamarket junk, but so many people cant get over it and move on that a lot of really great knives go unnoticed now like this one. Or, they focus on the company name more then anything. Hell, this knife handles and works better then my knives of alaska camp knife, d2 vs d2 and yet one is from china.
IF the only thing that it got dinged for was the sharp edges on the pommel, I'm totally ok with that. It wouldn't be very hard to round them out with a little sandpaper. For a D2 knife at that price as well made as this knife is, I'll take one any day. I think this knife would be a solid backup/ loaner to my four Knives of Alaska blades also in D2. I like to have different knives both on me and in different compartments and a smaller daybag and fannypack, in case I get separated from my gear.
All the Real Steel knives are spectacular when it comes to value, the T101 Thor is a sub 60€ flipper with ball bearings and smoother than some 150€+ knives!
Reel Steels are well built budget knives. The actions are great on the folders and their top of the line S571 is great. Might have to get this fixed blade before I get ruined by my forthcoming First Edge 5050. Keep up the good work Scout. I really enjoy your reviews.
It looks like a nice little budget blade for the price. I just watched Gideonstactical review of the Steel Will Druid 205 & that looks like a great knife too!
Looks likev a copy of the Bark River Bushcrafter II. Of course it's not a high-end, quality $300 knife. You were right to compare it to the Mora Bushcraft Black, for price, size & use. I must have one. I just can't decide between the Coyote or Black version. Thanks for the info on this knife. I'll check out the link you provided but shipping & import costs suck when you live in Canada. Cheers.
I like that you are incorporating some footage of you actually using the knife. Not many reviewer's are showing actual footage of a knife being used which makes no sense because you don't buy a knife to look at it.
The H6 is a very nice Folder in all it's many variations. I have a Observer and a Bushcraft, and a T9, too. What i can say about all of them, is that you get good quality and good steels, especially with the bushcraft, but their handles aren't very secure and beefy enough, to fit my size l hands good enough, so that i would feel comfortable, to stab a tree or whatever ;) As a last ditch weapon against a person or animal, these knives are not the best, but could be improved by Realsteel very easily, to be more secure. I wear my bushcraft modified with a loop, taped with fitting textured camotape, parallel to the handle, so i can easily draw with my fingers securely in it. Now, i can't slide on to the blade with my fingers, and can still work without the fingers in the loop. It has added a much better grip, too. But you must pay attention, that the loop doesn't get stuck in a door handle or tree branch. That's, why i wear it diagonally on my right frontside with a Tek-Lok.
+The Late Boy Scout It looks spot on, g10 is great for folders just wish they had used micarta for the full tang version, oh well $50 cant complain. Thanks for reviewing this knife I was waiting for someone like you to review it before I made a decision on buying one;)
The Late Boy Scout Hey man, thought I'd let ya know that they have a new Bushcrafter 2 called the Bushcraft Individual.... it comes with removable micarta scales and an extra set and different color choices..THIS IS AWESOME! AND VERY SMART.
Lucky you ... in Germany they made an exclusive deal with ...öker and prices exploded from 55€ to 75€ - for a Chinese made knife. We call this "Greed devours brain". I already own three Bushcraf D2s (bought them for the old price) and will continue using them. But after that exclusive deal I will not buy any Real Steel product at those crazy prices from ...öker. Instead I now bought two Mora Garbergs which are a much better deal as they only cost 70€ after the hype is gone.
Excellent review. 1. Have you checked out the Real Steel Bushcraft Scandi Folder yet? 2. Which do you prefer, Real Steel Bushcraft or Mora Bushcraft Black? Please reply. Thanx!!!
***** Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I know that Mora Bushcraft Black is the bomb, but the fact that Real Steel Bushcrafter is full tang, is just a lot more re-assuring to me.
Yes it is and man it looks great, I have no idea why nobody has reviewed the realsteel much here in the U.S. I do know that we have many knife snobs who won't even look at a knife if it's not a certain brand or a certain super steel with a high price point..Just silly if ya ask me but to each his own. I'm so happy to see that The Late Boy Scout reviewed this knife, he is an avid fan of spendy folders but has always thrown in a good budget friendly knife here and there.
Check out the Cold Steel Finn Wolf. Don't worry, it's not one of there crazy, zombie killer tactical knives. I am partial to fixed blades but I have a few folders & it is one of my favourites. It's a strong folding Bushcraft knife (picture a solid folding Mora). Some people have complained about edge retention/hardness issues but I have had no problems (maybe a bad run of them a while back) & it comes very sharp & strops to a beautiful wicked edge. It's also affordable & in my opinion a very good value & practical.
great review!!! I own this knife in black and love it!!! btw which state do you live in? I only ask , because the scenery in your videos sure is pretty!!!
Great review. I have this one, as well as the black one. This company makes some excellent cutlery. Check out their Observer fixed blade. I love it as well.
Definitely great materials for the money. I'm not familiar with "Real Steel." Are they reputable? I always have some doubt on the veracity of material claims with Chinese manufacture.
This is my first direct experience with their knives, but I keep hearing good things. We'll see how this one holds up for extended use, and we'll see if others I may pick up in the future hold up too.
I got one.i like it.pretty blade nice.fir me the sheet rides to high on my belt. Soi had a leather mod on the sheathet .it now will ride lower feels better to .the sheet is good.
If they put canvas micarta scales on them heck yeah they wouldnt be able to keep them on the shelf IMHO....Those g10 scales seem way to slick, I would have to add some texture or rangerbands.
Hey I enjoy your videos. There is a knife company in Ky. That make knives called mile zone. Have you tried their knives. Would love to see a review on them.
I wanted to like this one, but the handle is too small, awhile back my hand slipped onto the edge & cut myself pretty bad. It's been sitting in my closet after that incident.
Thanks for the review. I suspect the latest Real Steel bushcraft 3 are not so good. I've bought one and it is not sturdy at all. From a very modest batonning resulted indentations. There was already a little one on the tip when it reached me. I'd better have sent it back. It is a disappointment.
He’s got a genuine carbon steel mora in one hand and a Chinese “d2” that ain’t d2 in the other. And the scales ain’t garolite number 10 either , garuntee it feels a bit off . G10 is easy to imitate but very hard to fake, similar to true temperpedic foam that’s why neither is patented , then they’d have to tell how it’s made.
Everyone needs to check out their new Bushcraft Plus survival scandi or Full flat grind, its literally perfect construction wise. Its a great knife guys better scales and an inch bigger, nylon sheath with removable kydex sheath liner. It has 14C28N sandvick steel like the Mora Garberg, The lanyard whole is hidden in the butt of the tang so it doesn't get in your way the scales can be removed and have enough space for adding fish line or survival stuff if your in to that. I have to say the nylon is pretty dang good and has a ton of molly options, check it out cause Real Steel is making one fine knife. I've been using it everyday and the edge holds great, its definitely a good heat treat 14C28N is some good steel.
I don't know the prices in your Country, but in Germany the Bushcraft Plus costs 130 EUR which is insane for a Chinese made knife with a cheap nylon sheath. I can buy two Mora Garbergs for that money. There are also a number of high quality European made knifes which cost less than the Bushcraft Plus. The Linder Super Edge 2 costs less than 100 EUR and it's much better quality than those Chinese blades.
David Tate can you stop posting 5 comments on every knife review ever, and then asking the reviewer if they "would trust their life" to this knife. It is getting pretty obnoxious
Is it really D2 though? D2 doesn't usually take that level of polish, and even my local seller of these tells me it's 8cr14mov with good heat treat and not D2 at all!
I can't think of a worse steel for wilderness use that D2. To me, one requirement of any steel used in the wilderness is that it has to be easy to sharpen. You should, in fact, be able to sharpen it on a river rock. D2 is nearly impossible to sharpen without using a diamond sharpener. Many can't even sharpen it properly even then, which is why several knife companies, with Buck leading the way, stopped using D2. They were swamped with customers who were returning their knives for sharpening, and customer after customer complained that they couldn't get D2 as sharp as they wanted it, whatever they did. D2 is the most abrasion resistant steel out there, which is fine, if you use it on a knife that isn't going into the wilderness, and if you really know how to sharpen a knife, but is as bad as it can get on a knife that is going into the wilderness. Ka-Bar just came out with one of it's fighting and utility knives in D2, and I think this, too, was a serious mistake. D2 is back in favor because people have forgotten how incredibly difficult it is to sharpen. In my opinion, this is the worst possible steel on a wilderness knife, and a not very good steel on any knife. But I don't like diamond sharpeners to touch a knife I love, either. If you're ever watched a diamond sharpener work under a microscope, you know it sharpens by cutting, by slicing off pieces of steel, rather than by polishing steel away. By doing this, it removes a lot more metal than a natural stone sharpener. Most may never use a knife often enough to worry about this, but I do. If I have a knife I love, I use it on a nearly daily basis, and it doesn't take very long for a diamond sharpener to have a noticeable effect on the edge geometry. Nothing is as bad as an electric sharpener, but over time, a diamond sharpener can have the same effect. Anyway, I just can't see recommending a knife made of D2 for the wilderness. D2's strength is also its biggest weakness, and it's just not a knife you want to be using when a real emergency situation crops up. Or even if you happen to lose your diamond sharpener.
The key to sharpening any knife is a consistent angle, if you use a Gatco, Lansky, or Wicked edge jig you'll have consistent edges every time and it won't take that long. D2's selling point IS it's abrasion resistance, once it has an edge it holds it really well. You can carry a DMT mini sharp for touchups in the field and strop back up to hair popping sharp using your leather belt or even a piece of cardboard. Stropping is the secret to keeping D2 scary sharp and it's easy to do.
These are very likely cr13mov or a high carbon equivalent and I’d avoid buying on amazon as they may be seconds . China they seem to like to call any steel “d2” so if it says d2 it’s often a catch all. I bet there isn’t a blank of d2 in all of China .
Handle is too slippery and the single attachment option for the belt loop is lame. If the handle were roughed up or had a texture and the belt loop could be installed for vertical or horizontal carry, it'd be excellent.
its Chinese steal, that we all hate. I love me some Victorinox steal, from europe or steal folded in Japan and what not. But chinese steel, f that crap.
so you think that all knives thats are made in china are made from chinese steel, and all american knives are made from holly american steel, I was talking about stainless not countries that was made in.
I have been impressed with this company regardless of where it is made.
Where is it made?
Finally a US review! I have a few Realsteel knives and they rock. I have the previous version which is 440c and it's nice too.
Thanks for the great review! We tried to get the best quality with great affordability. We think we have done it with this Bushcraft.
Real Steel Knives 国内为什么不卖这个
I enjoy mine! Good quality tool!
FYI, I discovered that the sheath is in fact Tec-Lok compatible, which adds even more versatility and carry options.
never used tek lock are they all the same size or what size would u need?
Please! Keep adding the metric units in your review. Thanks, eh. 🇨🇦
Scuba Man
i measure in inches and i am canadian
You mean Roman Catholic measurements
I forgot to show it in video, but it does throw great sparks off a ferro rod with it's sharp 90 degree spine.
Fire! :)
The mora is Made of 1095.
+Nightwolf866 There is NO confirmation from Mora or any other media the Mora uses 1095.
They use Uddeholm UHB 20C for their carbon steel knives which is just a foreign equivalent to 1095. Same steel, different name.
Micah Weeks
Oh snap! Thanks for the info. Now I'll know if I see UHB 20C, that it's a good steel.
I have been looking at this knife for a while now but i was waiting for someone to review it.Excellent for the price

Totally agree on the sheath. I could EDC this under most shirts.
awesome review boyscout I've been wanting this knife but the price for the steel and kydex sheath it seemed to good to be true now seeing this it will be on my blade wall thankyou sir☺
Just bought one.. petty impressed..for a Chinese made knife... Also D2 steel...cool...very sharp...
great price on that one. might have to pick one up.
Good to see you here Ben!
Agreed. Thanks for chiming in.

It looks like a nice little budget blade for the price. I just watched Gideonstactical review of the Steel Will Druid 205 & that looks like a great knife too!
Surprising blade steel for the price of the knife, pretty cool.
I am gonna try out the folder version. Thanks for the review.

I picked one up and I love it !
The Bushcraft Black is made with 1095 carbon tool steel. It is also a rat tail tang.
Noticed you're wearing what appears to be one of the new SOG back packs. I've had the smaller one "Ranger" for a few months and absolutely love it.
I received the black one today, sweet knife.
I got 6 Real steel knives. All are good.
I love that style blade...well done review as always!
Thanks!
Nice to see a good sheath that accommodates us lefties!
first off love the videos and wanted to say real steel make many great budget knives
I have the folder version of the bushcrafter, I'll look into getting this fixed blade
D2 steel, I have a knife in d2 and I bumped slightly and the edge got chipped. 01 or 1095 is the only thing I buy now.
Great review. Thank you using petric measurements too man! Really helpful
I like that you are incorporating some footage of you actually using the knife. Not many reviewer's are showing actual footage of a knife being used which makes no sense because you don't buy a knife to look at it.
FYI, you can configure for scout carry as well. Dr David

Maybe that's why I'm on a waiting list.
I definitely see you buying the folder next ;)
I'm actually thinking about getting the black one just because.
+The Late Boy Scout It looks spot on, g10 is great for folders just wish they had used micarta for the full tang version, oh well $50 cant complain. Thanks for reviewing this knife I was waiting for someone like you to review it before I made a decision on buying one;)

This knife sells for about $55 on Amazon. I'm not knocking the Real Steel but for that I can get a very nice Mora.
Lucky you ... in Germany they made an exclusive deal with ...öker and prices exploded from 55€ to 75€ - for a Chinese made knife. We call this "Greed devours brain".

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I know that Mora Bushcraft Black is the bomb, but the fact that Real Steel Bushcrafter is full tang, is just a lot more re-assuring to me.
They got a folder version of it now. I did a review on that. Dunno if that is available in america yet.
Anscheinend bist du ja deutscher. Kannst du mal den link zu dem Review pls link zum kaufen rein hauen

I'm on a waiting list for the folding version. I only own one other folder, a Buck 110.
Check out the Cold Steel Finn Wolf. Don't worry, it's not one of there crazy, zombie killer tactical knives. I am partial to fixed blades but I have a few folders & it is one of my favourites. It's a strong folding Bushcraft knife (picture a solid folding Mora).

Didn't even know this knife existed; thanks for the excellent review. -Corey @ PREPARED 2THRIVE
great review!!! I own this knife in black and love it!!! btw which state do you live in? I only ask , because the scenery in your videos sure is pretty!!!
My scales are black. Nice knife. No issues.
did you figure out that belt loop yet move the bolts to the other holes
camron jordan ....hate the sheath. Using a condor. Loving it.
Great review. I have this one, as well as the black one. This company makes some excellent cutlery. Check out their Observer fixed blade. I love it as well.
Have you checked out the folding version? It's the only D2 scandi grind folder I can find.
Nice blade!
I wish I would off bought this instead of my Esee rb3.
I've had one for over a year now and love her to death. I wish I had the for mentioned coyote. mines black
People say that D2 from real steel chips, does yours chip ?
Definitely great materials for the money. I'm not familiar with "Real Steel." Are they reputable? I always have some doubt on the veracity of material claims with Chinese manufacture.
This is my first direct experience with their knives, but I keep hearing good things. We'll see how this one holds up for extended use, and we'll see if others I may pick up in the future hold up too.
***** Cool. I'll look forward to that.
It's too good for the money.
And then I got to the part where you said it was made in China, well that explains that, but the materials are very good for the money.
Hey buddy...just bought one..buy one..great knife...
I got one.i like it.pretty blade nice.fir me the sheet rides to high on my belt. Soi had a leather mod on the sheathet .it now will ride lower feels better to .the sheet is good.
David Tate what language is this
It is the new Tops BOB, dirt cheap though.
If they put canvas micarta scales on them heck yeah they wouldnt be able to keep them on the shelf IMHO....Those g10 scales seem way to slick, I would have to add some texture or rangerbands.
+Airik1111 They sure look like it, I will have to get one to find though. :)
+PrioritySurvival Any excuse to buy another knife right LOL:)
+Airik1111 Hahaha, absolutely!!
They aren't as slick as they look
Hey I enjoy your videos. There is a knife company in Ky. That make knives called mile zone. Have you tried their knives. Would love to see a review on them.
Great video brother! But just got to say the mora is carbon steel! Best wishes friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎
It`s a good review. Thank You.
love this knife may get one soon to bad it doesn't have a leather sheath though means I'll have to make it haha
have you checked out the steel will druid 205???
Glad I didn't ruin your video when I hiked passed ya in the mountains haha.
Hello again!
video turned out good, surprised I never heard of your channel. I follow several others similar to yours.
Thanks! Glad to have you.
I picked up a Finwolf and Enzo
Its hard to get the stainless steel mora black ?1227stainless.its good steel.
I like this knife! :)
Send it back. No excuse for a blunt tip. Order it Prime til you get a good one.
Will it strike a spark?
Mine ended up shipping with some funky belt loop that can't be used in the drop leg configuration... want to trade belt loop setups? ;)
I own same knife and it performs really well! Great Review!
Would this be to heavy and bulky for a neck knife carry.
In my opinion, yes.
Got The Mora Model You Suggested Thanks My Friend Had it about 3 months and it Works Great Thanks Again!!! Ammo Zombie
👍
Try the folder version too!
I'll give it a look.
***** That would be great! Btw: shoutout from a European subber!
so this one or the mora ? and why
I wanted to like this one, but the handle is too small, awhile back my hand slipped onto the edge & cut myself pretty bad. It's been sitting in my closet after that incident.
i dont believe in spending over $100 for a bushcraft knife, anything over and many people will treat it as a novelty item lol
How brittle is d2 vs 1095?
This knife is like an affordable Tops BOB to me.If only it was more pointy.
The question is, does Top's 1095 beat out Real Steel D2. Both good steels, both good companies, who does hardens the steel better.
Thanks for the review. I suspect the latest Real Steel bushcraft 3 are not so good. I've bought one and it is not sturdy at all. From a very modest batonning resulted indentations. There was already a little one on the tip when it reached me. I'd better have sent it back. It is a disappointment.
you think that Mora is stainless huh? it says Caron right on the blade😂🤣 good vid overall though lolz

That's coyote brown? It looks like pea green on video.

Say Heah, Yeah, I buying the Coyote with Red Liners. ,, .

Yes. BladeHQ wouldn't carry it if there was a question about that.

My moras knives just right on the belt lower feels better to
Handle is too slippery and the single attachment option for the belt loop is lame. If the handle were roughed up or had a texture and the belt loop could be installed for vertical or horizontal carry, it'd be excellent.
i though it was fake steel, badum tsss

handle looks skinny
I got to pass, moment I see D2 and china, I get cold feet after the scandal where they passed off every steel under the sun including 8cr13mov at d2
believe it or not its real d2
jordan nazif, yep, agree
clonexili I don't think Boker would guarantee the knife if it wasn't d2
oh and it holds an edge better than my Enzo in D2. not as good as my Dozier but hey it's still a great knife for the money.
Totally agree. The bolte knives are chinese, badged as D2 and yet are really our old friend 8cr14mov
1st
just a stainless and it says carbon, and btw what's up with americans hating stainless steel like it some kind of abomination
its Chinese steal, that we all hate. I love me some Victorinox steal, from europe or steal folded in Japan and what not. But chinese steel, f that crap.
so you think that all knives thats are made in china are made from chinese steel, and all american knives are made from holly american steel, I was talking about stainless not countries that was made in.
Stainless is tougher, and thus more tedious to sharpen.
yap. It is 1095.
