    If you cut the first 2 circles of puff pastry one on each side near the edge of the pastry,the next circle in the middle between the first circles then replete this pattern you will get all if your circles from the piece of pastry without re rolling,puff pastry is better not re rolled.I think you would get the same results if you just use short crust pastry on the top,because doing the pies the way you are by pulling the short pastry over the puff you are preventing the puff from rising,and that’s the reason we use puff pastry in the first place,if it can’t rise then there is no point to spending money for it.😊
