Disagree! ¾ of these villians were written so terribly (thankfully 2 of them got redeemed when Pont and Graff, the pioneers of amazing storytelling, took over). My personal favorite Sonic villians are The Brain, Vaccum Cleaner, Leader, Crazy, Hungry, Sensei, Girlboss, Emo, I'M NOT WEAK (totally not a rehash), Chat GPT, the Moon, IGN and HTF writers.
22:12 the japanese script apparently doesnt mention any torture, which is presumably the reason why sonic is just chilling there. the english writers just made this shit up and only made the story worse because of it
So right. Not to mention Shadow was also probably stuck fighting for 6 months before showing up to roundhouse-kick his illusion. Eggman SHOULDN'T have won, or not as absolutely as he did.
Back before the avatar character was announced, there was an image teasing that there would be a 3th playable character in Forces, and I remember a bunch of people genuinely thinking that it would be Bubsy, I never believed it for a second.😂
Oh boy, where do I even begin with Sonic Forces? It is hands down my favorite game of all time! I mean, who doesn't love a whole host of flaws, inconsistencies, plotholes, and missed potential packed into one neat little package? It's like a jigsaw puzzle that was put together by a blindfolded toddler with buttered fingers. Truly an exquisite masterpiece! Let me just start by saying that the story in Sonic Forces is an absolute marvel. It's so well-crafted, with every twist and turn making complete and total sense. And by "sense," I mean that it made absolutely no sense at all, leaving me scratching my head in confusion throughout the entire experience. It's a true testament to the art of storytelling when you can't even follow the plotline! But the characters, oh my, the characters! They are the true gems of this game. Tails, for example, was written with such depth and complexity. I especially loved how his seemingly intelligent and resourceful persona was completely thrown out the window, as he became this meek, useless sidekick who couldn't put two brain cells together. A truly inspiring portrayal, I must say. And let's not forget about Infinite, the undisputed star of the show. What a magnificent villain! Never before have I seen a character with such amazing potential squandered so effectively. I mean, who needs a coherent backstory or any sort of development when you can have a one-dimensional edgelord with a fancy mask? Bravo to the writers for their outstanding creativity in crafting Infinite's character! I must admit, though, I have to give credit where credit is due. Shadow, the one shining light in this otherwise dazzling array of excellence, was written brilliantly. His character remained consistent and true to form, showcasing his trademark brooding and angsty disposition. It's almost as if the writers accidentally treated him with a fraction of care and effort compared to the rest. Oops! In conclusion, Sonic Forces deserves all the praise it gets and more. Its flaws, inconsistencies, plotholes, and missed potential only serve to highlight its greatness. The exceptional writing of characters like Tails and Infinite truly shines through, leaving players with an unforgettable experience. Definitely not a trainwreck, but a work of unparalleled genius!
I want to make 2 things clear that people seem to misunderstand 1: For God's sake people the hedgehog engine has NOTHING to do with the physics. It's just a lighting engine. 2: The reason the huge sun wouldn't kill Eggman and his army is because the phantom ruby chooses who to affect. Also, Tails explains how these effects aren't real. It's kinda like a dream that's so realistic that if you hit your hid in a dream, you would get a bruise when you wake up. As far as they are concerned, that sun is real for their reality. All of these won't affect Eggman.
I have no clue why so many people make The Hedgehog Engine the scape goat for so many of Modern Sonic's problems. The main technical issue is a lot of recent games being built off of Lost World's code, but not the engine itself.
FINALLY a Forces review that not only points out all its flaws, but still enjoys the Avatar's stage themes as much as I do! Seriously, half the other reviews I watched call them terrible and I'm just like "it's the best part of the soundtrack???". They're so obviously inspired by the success of prior games' leitmotifs, especially the Sonic vocal tracks of the 2000s, that I can't help but at least smile even on the cheesier ones. (The other half of those reviews mostly disregard them or skimps over that part of the soundtrack entirely, except for *maybe* one other I forgot by now because it was amongst the first ones I watched)
It would’ve been so cool if the other characters got playing time because sonic was captured. A sonic game where you have to earn the right to play as him again essentially.
Indeed. It's not a good look for Forces at ALL that afterthought dialogue in the comics that came later had to salvage a couple points, but it's cool people still care.
41:17 actually, why wasn't omega with tails as a partner, that would have been a pretty unique and cool team-up to see as tails was fixing up omega, and maybe when chaos arrives, we have a boss battle as tails and then tails eventually gets worn out and omega comes in with the save, but he has not enough power to help in the war and maybe he tags along with tails until the ending where he fights infinite in a boss battle and gets his revenge from when Infinite defeated him before
For some reason they made Omega's destruction a big plot point and then the payoff was just him showing up at the end and doing nothing so I don't know what their plan with him was.
Pre-release: "Resist or collaborate? Fight on, or salvage what's left? What will be of those who align with the madman's ideals? What will he do now that he's in power and has to manage SOME amount of people support? And overall, what will be of Sonic's friends now that he's gone? Which side are *you* on? The losing side, crumbling hoping for resurgence, or the winning side, steerable into something productive for all to build to the skies? Those who reach power must change their thinking after all..." Actual release: Thing happens, thing happens, but it doesn't show, thing happens, we speak, world is saved! Roll credits. Don't worry about the big bad feeding Eggman victories, he's just an angsty teen :) I'm so happy for both the thoroughness of this review (people don't care enough this could've put Sonic on the level Transformers is) and the ideas on the comments section. Passion for such a compelling Sonic narrative must NOT die. You could say, "we must RESIST." :)
Yeah,it’s no coincidence that Infinite being an “actual person” is shown everywhere except the main game,it pretty much was a late retcon. And one that was very unnecessary,it’s not like it made Infinite better.
I'd say it made Infinite many times worse. It made him go from badly written, under-utilized enigmatic character to badly written, under-utilized whiny baby who's yandere for Shadow. Any respect the character could've had went out the window due to that.

has there been a sonic game that has featured in a prarie and steppe or cold desert like the arctic? i feel like the point of a sonic game is speed and open terrains and climates so sonic can do faster than normal, yet they keep doing green hill all the damn time which has mountains and valleys.
Ah yes, my favorite Sonic Villains: Faker, SEX, General Kenobi and Ocean Man

@christophermoore5007 mate that goes without saying

@@christophermoore5007 yeah. It's kinda like... SUPER well known for being terrible. Hence why that goes without saying.

If what you say about the sun is true, then it’s only misunderstood because it’s terribly conveyed in the game.
I love how they kept trying to make Zavok a thing when nobody has ever cared about him.
The creator's pet vibes are strong.
It’s incredible how much they wanted this game to live up to expectations and hearing how it flopped and I felt nothing during and after playing it.
