Haha, I never gave too much thought about using a magnetic tape measure to pick up small metal items. Like you I’m a tape measure fanatic I love the fat max I actually have the 16’ Fat Max Extreme which I purchased about 15 yrs ago that’s my go to, I don’t see it being sold anymore and I do have every tape line you just evaluated. Thx for sharing 👍

I like it I have 75% of thoes and my tajima is my favorite all arounder. When it comes to framing ir something heavy duty milwaukee wide blade magnetic or the niteeyes are a winner. I've tried the stud stud 2 fatmax alot of them and magnetic is a big help. The wide blade magnetic is the best size and quality to me even over the stud. A few good ones to try I would saw is wide blade magnetic or wait for that new gen with the green tip to come out. The tajima magx2 only comes in 16ft but the magnet on the heel is great! A surprisingly good one is the komelon led tape too. I've had all the led tapes and for rhe price the komelon is really compact and good quality. Regardless of the led feature it's one of the smallest 25ft ones I've used that isn't stanley cheap garbage. People dont know the joy of the tajima tapes unless they try them its something about them people just see the high price tag and scoff yet they spend 37 dollars on milwaukee anyways. Thanks for the hard work making the videos!

@@MattHmm-rq6dn I was looking at the tajima mag 2x it seem like a good one maybe one day in the future I will get one. I think your right people get scared of the price and just stay away from tajima but it is great quality

If you used metric, you could try the Advent Vice Versa. Similar to the lefty/righty but printed like that on both sides. I tried the Fastcap flat tape for more precise markings but the tape is to wobbly, makes it a pain to position sometimes. With the Vice Versa I flip the tape and the edges touch the wood, and I can still measure from the left or the right!
As far as I know it's the only tape measure that does this.
Also, props on the fashion sense! 🤣

Back in high-school our wood working shop teacher made it mandatory to use the fastkap lefty righty tape measure. At price duh but it's been a dozen years since that and I still use that tape measure. Lol it's wrong though.. like 1/32" to 1/8" off. But! If I use that tape measure exclusively then that's my new standard so my markings are still true most of the time.

When I grab a tape measure, it is typically for one or two quick measurements, so I'm not too picky, but I do like my Milwaukee 25 ft. "Wideblade Magnetic." It will extend out about 12' before snapping over, and it has a little magnet on the end, and numbers on both sides.
My EDC gear includes a little 6' tape measure which comes in handy for checking the fit of shelves, or a box, an appliance, or anything quick like that. It's cheap Chinesium, but does what I need it to do.

Agreed wideblade magnetic is the magic spot for milwaukee tapes. There is a quality difference between that one you have that was a 2 pack from holiday time that just says magnetic 👍.

@Tooling_with_Newman I'm wondering if.i could just remove the button without damaging the function. I like the tape besides that. I don't even grab it anymore because I don't want to be on the jobsite hand reeling in my new tape lol some of my favorites are then 16" komelon lr, super compact used it over a year in concrete until someone lost it.
