If you exercise a lot you shouldn't try to follow a keto or low carb diet. Distance runners do a thing called carb loading before a marathon to build up stores of sugars and carbs so they don't end up consuming their own muscle halfway through the race. They'll eat several large servings of pasta, lots of potatoes, even junk food. Look at Michael Phelps. He consumes over 20,000 calories a day, almost all of it highly processed junk. Because he burns it as fuel, it never gets stored as fat or converted to muscle, tissue and bone. You have to keep things in their right contexts. If you exercise a lot you probably should find a more appropriate diet. Keto is more about avoiding diabetes and cardiovascular diseases if you lead a more typical American lifestyle that is a bit more sedentary.
I'd throw Dr Sten Ekberg in there too. Both brilliant and both have views and info that compliment each other......and both aren't medical doctors as such, but both are fully on the path that I wish all medical doctors were
I've been doing keto, IF, OMAD since February. I've lost over 35 pounds. Yet, I constantly struggled with fatigue. I started taking nutritional yeast about 2 weeks ago and it's a game changer. I have energy all day long. My mood has significantly improved as well. This man knows what he's talking about!!!
What impresses me most about Dr. Berg’s videos is how he takes a limited topic and in just a few minutes provides an in depth analysis of the topic in a non-dumbed down, respectful and trustworthy manner.
@@BensCoffeeRants Thank you for your reply. Nothing we see or hear should be trusted without validation. One way I use is looking at non-RUclips sources for falsification or validation. If data leans toward validation, I give what Dr. Berg said on the specific video a try and see how it works. It’s time consuming, but my health is worth it. So far, Dr. Berg’s work seems to be the real deal, but that is just my opinion. Stay well, you and your family.

Wow, Dr. Berg, so many of the symptoms of B1 deficiency are what my elderly mother experienced in the last few years of her life. :(. The Assisted Living facility kept saying she had dementia but I knew it was a nutritional issue. And the food they served was high in carbs and processed items. I did give her liquid B-complex vitamins when I would visit and I could often get her back to normal with large doses of B-complex. I also discovered that biotin did wonders for her mental state and could calm her down from screaming to perfectly rational in 10 minutes. (I think that was related to undiagnosed UTIs and the urea cycle not working properly.) Anyway, for your readers please don't underestimate the importance of B vitamins, especially in older people who are probably eating a deficient diet. Blessings.
@@mhines6780 I use Nature's Bounty Vitamin B Complex sublingual Liquid, 2 Oz. It works great and is easy to add to drinks. Plus the price is reasonable. I found that liquid or chewable vitamins were easier for my mom to take. Swallowing pills is difficult for many older people. Blessings.
Just started taking B1 again. Starting to feel a little bit better by having more energy. Not so winded when I go up the steps. I can't believe it's taken this long for me to find out why I've been exhausted all of my life. I thought it was from the thyroid that I figured out about 10 years ago. But what I was doing naturally still was not helping with all of my anxiety and mostly just being tired all the time. It's been my life. This happens to be a miracle that I stumbled on. Oh and the not feeling satisfied after I eat has been my life. I ate more than an average person I think a lot of it was just from nervousness. I could go on and on and on.
I'm a new subscriber, and after watching Dr Berg's video on nutritional yeast I purchased his product. I'm amazed how it has affected my eyes. I used to wake up in the morning with crusty eyelids, and also reddish eyes towards end of the day. Both symptoms have now been greatly reduced. I really appreciate his intelligent videos, and his ability to explain helpful information in layman's terms. Keep up the great work, and I'll be a subscriber forever. Thank you Dr Berg!
wow I don't even know where to start... I've been eating nutritional yeast for a couple months now. I have anxiety, heart palpitations and a rapid heart rate (usually 110+ resting) and have had chronic violent disturbing nightmares since I was a child. I have noticed a decrease in these things lately and had no clue how, and did not know it could be because of the benefits of the nutritional yeast. I only started eating it because it's healthy and I tend to use it in place of cheese lately also since I feel crappier when I eat a lot of cheese. Your videos are so informative, thank you for all the great info!
I love your information! I deal with a lot of anxiety and had a very severe bout for two weeks recently. The onset came during a bad flu, and with symptoms of depression. I didn’t think to eat nutritional yeast. I’ll start taking some again. Thank you. On a side note, I wish Western Medical doctors studied nutrition for two or three years before they were allowed to be doctors. Talking to my doctors and specialists about nutrition is like trying to have an intelligent conversation with Homer Simpson.
Most doctors are ‘trained’ to be pillpushers, nothing but sales’ agents for pharmaceutical Companiex who have literally hijacked the medical system and the Hippocratic Oath. The system is rigged in that, being sick and keeping people sick is more profitable than being healthy or restoration of health with many prescription drugs being extremely harmful. . A holistic doctor trained in nutrition, alternative medicine as well as conventional medicine, is the best option although not many have such a breadth of skills. I understand too, that the glyphosphates sprayed so liberallt on crops, fruit and vegetables, not only depletes the soils on which if is grown but also is a hidden cause of anxiety and insomnia as these lethal chemicals disrupt the hormonal and nervous system as well as being a leading cause of cancer and obesity, again, through hormonal disruption. Also the fruits and veg grown in this way, are themselves depleted of much nourishment due to devastating damage whilst growing in such soil. We all need to be much more aware as to the devastating impact of such damaging glyphosphates which are literally poisoning humanity, wildlife and the soil which is the essence and source of life itself.
Dr. Berg you really are a lifesaver! I've been suffering from anxiety for almost 2 years now and no doctor could help me. They all say they don't know where anxiety comes from and that's just the way it is and they give you tablets, etc. This has really helped me a lot! @@brendexxruiz yeah, fasting and intermittent fasting can be a struggle in the beginning, but don’t give up. After a couple of weeks or so your body adjusts to it and it gets easier and easier. I’ve been doing keto and IF (for the second time) for about a month now. I started with the 16/8 fasting schedule (which is usually recommended in the beginning), then after a couple of weeks I switched to 18/6, then a week or so later I went to the 20/4. And starting yesterday I am now trying to do OMAD, as much as possible. The reason for that is I need to kick start my mid section fat loss (stomach, waist and hip “love handles”) and OMAD is the best way to make that happen. I don’t have diabetes but I am definitely insulin resistant and I’m doing my best to correct. Hang in there, it will get easier, I promise! 💙

But, I do think I am defiant in b1 and have many of the signs you described. I will try nutritional yeast again and see how I feel. I have been thinking I needed a test to see my vitamin levels anyway. I lost a lot of weight 4 years ago and then gained some back even continuing low carb, but the weight was not coming off and I just felt bloated and uncomfortable. Ihave been doing your advice on acv as I was drinking it everyday, when I lost weight the first time. I am losing weight again and feeling better. I am not holding water like I was. Nutritional yeast is highly beneficial and it’s NOT like beer yeast or brewers yeast that is live yeast. The process of making and drying preserves high density nutrients in a easy to absorb form. I’ve used braggs and recently frontier brand…they make a Mexican flavored one like nacho flavor. Can’t remember for sure. They have a couple flavors but this flavor is best for us and we use it on eggs in egg salad, veggie sides etc. We live it so much I buy it by the pound. Highly recommend!

Most thyroid issues are caused by nutrition issues either food sensitivity or vitamin deficiency

wow I don't even know where to start...

I have been adding nutritional yeast to my homemade beef & chicken bone broth for years. After warning up the bone broth I let it cool some, to help insure the high heat doesn’t kill the yeast. I think it helps the taste of the bone broth while adding more nutrition to my diet.
As he said in his video, the yeast should already be dead. Eating yeast that is still alive is dangerous.
Did u know to get the non fortified?
..l wish l listened to him b4 l bought 2 bottles of fortified made by Braggs. I'm just gonna use it then by the non fortified. I was wondering why wat l bought was inexpensive. I should of known better.
The yeast is already dead but it might help preserve nutritional quality
@@deniawiseone95 Yes, ever sense I learned from Dr. Burg. I found that I like the taste of Foods Alive Nutritional Yeast Flakes, Non-Fortified the best.
Would this be good or bad for hyperthyroidism ?
I've learned more watching a few videos from Dr. Berg than 15 years of going to different "sickcare" I mean healthcare providers. Amazing.
Healthcare providers don’t teach you nun, they give you antacids.. I meant *bandaids for all your problems!
🌺 Thanks for this great explanation of nutritional yeast and its benefits! I'm a long time vegan and always put it liberally in sauces, on salad, and popcorn because of its cheesy taste but now will love it even more 😄.
I don't eat popcorn anymore; but whenever I'm using this, I always suspected it would have been GREAT on popcorn!
I hadn't any idea it was so versatile....so l will get some from my health food store....
@Madmarsha, Yes! I was first introduced to it on popcorn many years ago from a company called North Shore Naturals here in Hawai'i. They also have a version with spirulina, both so flavorful and yummy but way lighter in calories! I used to sneak them into theaters instead of the conventional stuff all the time 😅
@@denasharpe2393 Get the flakes, they're great! If you have Amazon Prime, prices are good with so many more brand options not available in conventional supermarkets.
What would be best to take? I suffer from bloating, tiredness, stress - would this be ideal or another Dr Berg supplement?
I love N.Yeast and its low sodium value for pasta topping.
B vitamins so very important and beneficial.
I'm using high dose of Befotiamine for severe neuropathy. Definetly noticed reduction of detailed dreams, and stress. Great video!
I mix four tablespoons nutritional yeast (now brand) to 5 cups of herb salad mix o organics, and 2 cups of almond milk plus two garlic cloves and 1/2 tsp tumeric and 1/3 tsp black pepper. start with the garlic and almond milk to pulverize the garlic in your vitamix before adding the rest. Its my mean green smoothie. First drink of my day! Whatevers left during my four hour eating window.. I add a bunch of dino kale to it and my pumpkin seed serving.. and 1 cup of beef bone broth vitamix again take a walk after enjoying the second cup of the day. That..my lemon and tsp of fresh ginger added to cooled down green tea and my can of sardines .thats it! so good. Feel good!
Do you dose the Nut. Yeast?
What is a good dose vit. B1?
Stores carry 100mg or 250 mg. Can you over do B1??
Is there a way to know if the nutritional yeast is fortified or natural? I just got mine from walmart and it's saying that the only ingredient is dried yeast....
In the US, food product labels are required to list all ingredients in decreasing order by amount. If nothing else is listed as an ingredient, it should be OK. You also try contacting the manufacturer for confirmation.
I will check with Dr. Berg about doing a video on this!
Dr. Berg's Support Team.
1: Israeli nutritional yeast is white while American is yellow. Why? 2: All nutrirional yeast I came by is made from refined sugar canes. Is that good for keto? Alternatives?
How much of the powder form is recommended to take on a daily basis? Would 1 tablespoon be enough?
I'd like to know that, as well. I've been sprinkling it over my veggies but don't know if it's enough.
1 tbsp and up to 1/4 cup nutritional yeast; then another site said 2 tsps of fortified nutritional yeast. I’d rather stick with the natural yeast.
2 Tbsp., approx. 16 g
Thank you, Dr. Berg. What's better, fortified, or non-fortified.
Thank you @dr eric berg for educating us for free. For almost a decade i have been battling with anxiety disorder, and experiencing all the symptoms you mentioned in this video. I have seen many doctors and psychiatrist and none has thought i may have a nutritional deficiency, all they do is give me antidepresant which only gave little relief but my everyday life remains a struggle. I knew there has to be something else that will help me other than antidepressant hence i started searching the net and youtube until i came across your channel. I just started taking nutritional yeast today and i'm hopeful i will come back to testify
I started today. We shall see. 😅
Whats ur update
When I first started my keto journey, I ate nutritional yeast on my food. I later stopped after another keto coach said it messed with hormones. I tried the kale, blueberry, kefir drink to help my liver. I was concerned over how many carbs the blueberries and kefir have, but I tried it anyway. It was good although seems to be more than 1 serving. I appreciate the information and I hope I can get back to a healthy weight while healing inside.
My husband experiences POTS. He has stents in his heart. Recently, his ECG says he is bradycardia. Will it be ok for him to take nutritional yeast.
I came to RUclips to find tips on managing or reducing stress when I ran across your videos. And what's so bizarre is watching this is like you're talking directly to me, because I have every symptom of B deficiency. I ordered your nutritional yeast last night and can't wait for it to come.
how did the nutritional yeast affect you? notice any improvements ?
It saved my life 6 years ago. Had to have 3 bags in IV form. I'm a huge fan of B1 and thiamine. Love all that you share big time. From Wales UK xx

I bought nutritional yeast after watching all your videos, also you helped get my cholesterol down very informative Dr. Berg, thanks for “paying it forward “!!
How did you get your cholesterol down?
Dr Berg , Your skin has improved dramatically ! Its radiating from within 😊
Has he changed something in his diet?
@@sonia1082 I believe, when U do high fat diet - keto + intermittent fasting for quite a long period of time and U re consistent... U may start experiencing this. Being patient and consistent is key here.
I also noticed that,,,, especially the wrinkle on the right cheek of his face has completely disappeared.
He does look much better, maybe with a bit of botox, which is good, botox can be very useful. For him to know so much about better health, I suspect he must be well over 100 years old to be so knowledgeable and such a great teacher.
Me,,, at age 82, I checked the life expectancy charts they say I will live to 99.
So, I am still working every day because I can't afford to live that long.
@@sonia1082 This is very common to have one’s skin improved when doing healthy keto, intermittent fasting or prolonged fasting, while also using very high quality nutrients. Nothing special to it. @@curtisgregory517 He made a video on Botox and it’s side effects.
I just tried the tablets. I do not like the taste, but I will take them to see if there are any benefits.
Ive always wanted to try it. I finally did a few months ago. OMG, I love it on my salads etc. I also include it in my dogs natural raw diet
EDIT: Its helped me with my anxiety and I believe its helped two of my dogs.
OMG...I'm going to stir some into my cats food, I'll start with a pinch and increase it to a proper dose once she gets used to it. Thanks for the idea!
Nutritional yeast is a great salad seasoning especially on a raw Kale salad. Definitely makes it more enjoyable 😉
Hi Dr. Berg what's the difference between your Nutritional Yeast or Natural Vit. B1 Complex? Which is better?
I know others have used this for a long time, but I am new to it and I actually think nutritional yeast is still a "secret". I had no idea it had all these benefits. I'm glad I finally picked this up last month.
Thank you SO MUCH Dr Berg for this. I was scared to take this because I dealt with candida overgrowth in the past from antibiotics from a trip to Mexico that took me YEARS and some help from you to get control of. I now have it mostly resolved(thanks to cleanses, IF/keto and most sugar cut out)but have to be Very mindful of everything I consume..so I was a afraid to take nutritional yeast. Not anymore. Getting some today. GOD Bless you Dr. Berg, seriously...you are helping an unbelievable amount of people.
It's good on popcorn to, I love it
@@debraaddis396 I think he made a video on popcorn 🍿 that could interest you.
How long do we take nutritional yeast ? Everyday for how many months.
Dr Berg thankyou, so much So can I take B1 and nutritional yeast powder together or are they the same?
I believe nutritional yeast is the best form of Vitamin B1, he recommends. B1 supplement is synthetic and works but not as well as natural with the yeast. That was my understanding.
Nutritional yeast contains B1
I love nutritional yeast. Better than supplements.
What amount of nutricional yeast do l need to take daily? How long for? When is the best time to take it. Can l make capsules out of it?
Thank kindly 👑
I never saw someone explains SO WELL, in such an eloquent way, such an "addicted for us" way, because I Don t "get tired" trying to decodify what Dr Berg says! It s amazing!! Seriously...
Congrats on the 6M subscribers Dr. Berg and staff!
Sprinkle 1 tbsp of nutritional yeast on your green salad (romaine, green ice, arugula any of these will do), pumpkin seeds, and drizzle EVOO. I put avocado slices and cucumber too. Yum.
You so deserve the number of appreciative followers...we are greatly blessed to have you advising on health and natural supplements to live longer and Better!!!😊
I love it this way too!
I wish I could eat a green salad without getting sick. My body doesn't seem to appreciate raw plant matter. I can handle about a handful but more than that and I get gut bloating and feel sick for a few hours. Cooked is fine, but raw just doesn't seem to agree with my digestive system.
@@kalmtraveler That’s about as much as I can do as well! I also add it to cooked creamed spinach or broccoli/cauli with cheese sauce. I’m heavy meat based keto or ketovore
@@stephaniesimmons0723 oh thank you! I'll have to get some of this (hadn't heard of nutritional yeast until now) and try that. I do love cooked spinach, broccoli, cauliflower etc and also generally stick to keto/carnivore as I just seem to feel best keeping carbs to a minimum though admittedly I make myself sick by eating sweets on some holidays.
How long does it take to notice benefits from Nutritional Yeast ?
I sprinkle it in my eggs…sooo good.I also make a yummy salad: romaine lettuce, cucumbers, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, sea salt, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and sunflower seeds. Delicious! Thank you for this informative video! 🙏🏼
