Not quite the Poulan content i was hoping for, but I'll take it. Haha. I've repaired and or modified dozens of those clamshell Poulans and they're actually kind of tough. I thank you for actually calling it a purge bulb as that describes it's function correctly. People tend to plumb them backwards, thinking that it primes fuel under pressure. Keep up the great videos, always look forward to them.

I think the good people watch your channel and I am glad you help so many people. I have learnt so much from you and have created quite a little Jonsered and Husqvarna collection after watching so many of your great saws in action.

Always good to have a reliable back up saw. I have an old 32cc poulan that I always throw in the truck when I go cut. Yah never know if you might pinch a bar, so a good little back up saw is always a solid plan. Good stuff here as always. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙

Been working on 2 very similar machines today here in the UK. They're branded McCulloch, but they'll be the same as a partner or a poulan, all under the Husqvarna umbrella now anyway. Looking at the intake port, line from filter (which is a smaller diameter) comes up front left, under the carb to the right hand side of the carb. Hose with nipple on (which is there purely to stop it pulling through and make getting it back in a pain!) comes up back right and goes under the carb to the purge and then a short piece of hose from carb to purge, both hoses that go to the purge are a larger diameter, the purge is labelled carb and tank.

It's a Poulan. I have couple of them. They don't have much resale value but are cheap to fix.

Schroeder makes a nice affordable backpack blower. It’s not top of the line but it’s cheaper than anything at a box store and absolutely puts them to shame in performance. I have 3-400 hours on mine. I used it professionally for 2 years doing leaf cleanup, and have done 3 yards twice a year for 3 years since then, plus some other things. It runs and works like new.

    Aye Tinman, long time.
I have a couple of those saws. They have had the same problems over the years. Once I switched to ethanol free those problems went away. Luckily, ethanol free is readily available where I live. I don't even use those saws anymore. I just keep them in my collection. I always dump out the tank when putting my saws away.

Pull the muffler off and open up the gills. And if it’s the type where you can pull the two muffler halves apart ditch the screen in there, and maybe drill that baffle thing out a bit did this with my “crapsman” 42cc and it’s awesome cuts very nicely for a cheap saw that small.

Should be a Zenoah clone. If so, not bad saws for the $$$ with a magnesium split case and decent aftermarket support!

That white thing in the tank is supposed to be like that. It’s just there to keep the return line from working its way back out of the tank. The fuel pickup line comes out of a small hole just to the left of the carb and is a smaller line than the return line. I usually just drill it out so it takes the same size line. I’ve worked on dozens of those Craftsman/Poulans. They’re somewhat decent saws for what they are, but the ones newer than that aren’t worth messing with IMO.

I’ve seen this happen with radio control aircraft motors. Either stiff as a wedding night pecker or sticky mess. Gotta love alcohol in our fuel! Biggest farce ever 🥺

The 8010s had a recall for intake update from dirt ingestion diet getting by the boot in between carb and filter the boot was also not sealing properly

Even Stihl recommends to run your equipment dry if you plan to store it for more then a few month. Even when using motomix or aspen

With respect to what they are, those little 38-42cc Poulan/Craftsman pre strato saws aren't half bad, IMO!
Greg, great advice from the Tinman. Love your determination and genuinely hope you get it all sorted out and running sweet! I've no experience with an 8010, but most Echo's that I've worked on need to be fully warmed up, like several minutes of running before adjusting the carburetor jets. When they're tuned well, they'll seem rich until they're at full operating temperature.

Friend....I hope you realize how many folks would have given arm and leg for that advice and teaching at some point in their lives. I know that point for me was about 40 years ago when I was in a woodlot where I could cut and take as much wood as I wanted, but the saw would not start. 😡
