A: I use Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro & After Effects. Photoshop for image editing and thumbnails. Premiere Pro for compositing and After Effects for motion graphics (the fancy animations).

It's so scary seeing 'The Head Doctor' taunt's animation being so expressive and fluid, unlike the typical stiff TF2 fashion.
Do feel like a lot of creators have had plenty of time over the past few years to practice/hone in on their animation skills for taunts :P
So hopefully future taunts can be that kind of quality too :D
The original and offical taunts feel motion captured which are awesome. The other workshop taunts feel good but newer taunts feel very expressesive and exaggerated.

Damn, some of the warpaints actually looks clean and can be fit inside the game. Glad they choose more the "industrial" feeling warpaint cuz it fits with tf2
Same with hats, cold war era stuff looks nice, although some of them are ridiculous too

a major complaint I have is how flashy the newer unusuals are, especially the taunts
Translation: Most of the warpaints look bad or boring.
YEah that first one showcased looks dope and it's mercenary grade so it's very easy to obtain too no less!
As someone who enjoys the more metallic and simple warpaints, this update is a blessing. Also, the new maps look fun, but that might be just because they're new lol.
Edit: Maps are fun and well designed. The worst map is a C tier at worst, and that's impressive considering some of the other maps Valve has added from the workshop. Very cool.
i'm actually finally looking forward to trying out warpaints due to these stronger simpler designs! the metallic quality is great too!

Someone probably said it by now, but the Hazard Handler has three more styles. There's a style that lifts the face shield, a style that removes the extra glove from the cosmetic, and a style that does both.

@@tomlawson4713Kinda. The first style colors the bandana, the 2nd colors the hair (both remain the same model-wise essentially, just colors change)
The 3rd removes the bandana, and the 4th removes the hair.

That helmet is almost 1-1 I wonder if there's any copyright issues.
Only the try hard, master of all 9 classes can stop them, but when the world needed him the most, he vanished.
Worth noting that the Full Metal Helmet has a different class icon and a different item strapped to the side for each class.
Scout and Soldier have shotgun shells, Sniper and Heavy have .50 BMG rounds, Demo has a whisky flask, Medic has syringes, Pyro has a lighter and some matches, Spy has a carton of cigarettes, and Engie has nails.

This isn't the update-sized update that we expect nor the most ambicious update but the maps, the vsh being added to casual, the taunts that we get and the solid cosmetics and skins was a breath of fresh air compared to the smissmas and the scream fortress hell that we've been getting for 5 years

@@mohammadwaled409Yes they did, but it had some issues with the official valve servers (I think the servers weren't set up properly to handle the new VScript things), so it was crashing the game non-stop. The VSH maps have been deactivated for the time being.

This update is like if Valve built onto the original style of TF2. After so many Smissmas updates with goofy stuff, this is amazing.
Hopefully this update can make the game stand out as it should.
While this isn't an "update size update", one thing it definitely has going for it is cosmetics. They are amazing and I love them.

Some taunts that are actually taunts, some good warpaints and interesting maps, hats and items that can be used the whole year and fit the game style and can be matched with stuff already in game. Amazing stuff... It's not a major update but its progress in the right direction.
Uber-Wear is most likely a slightly altered version of Medic's Emesis Blue outfit. I had a feeling they would reference it in an update at some point, the movie has 5mln views by now.
These cosmetics and unusuals are sick, some of them are goofy, but lots of them I feel fit nice.
Just hoping the unusuals aren't ridiculously expensive so i can get one myself, I really like the treasure trove one

I like how most of the cosmetics (and warpaints) stick to the theme of industry/professional/combat. It’s pretty different from the goofy cosmetics we usually get and feels almost like a return to form for TF2’s semi-serious artstyle. It’s very clean and nice on the eyes.
Plus the majority of them look like they could make for great sets.

@@czarthy yeah, the lack of additional features is totally miserable. supposedly they needed to be cut shortly before launch. i wouldn't be surprised to see a second wave of updates including the promised features and fixes; but i'm not gonna get my hopes up either.
but like, the only reason this update exists in the first place is because the workshop community thought it was unacceptable how valve just *refused* to add actual content in favor of exclusively boring holiday shit that nobody liked. it was completely nonsensical, they were handicapping both the community and themselves by choosing to exclusively accept items nobody wanted to buy or play with, when 90% of the community would much rather be making cool things. they were letting literal millions of dollars of free content submissions just rot away to the benefit of absolutely nobody.
sure, fixing the game should be the bare minimum we expect from valve. but their holiday update scheme was *less* than the bare minimum, it was just sheer nonsensical incompetence.
in a response to a fan email, eric from the TF2 team confirmed that they're gathering community fixes for a future update. they just had a deadline... for only the maps and cosmetics. the full package will be coming later™️, assuming eric doesn't get whisked away from working on TF2 i guess.

I was thinking of a soldier using the “kill red team” taunt in from of hoovies or infront of the enemy team and exploding as soon as he snaps his stick.
Holy shit there was a point in time where I was trying to figure out an imperial firebender cosmetic set for pyro and now they're finally getting an official hat for it, hallelujah.

This is somewhere between a seasonal update and “update sized” update. I really like the bit I’ve seen so far. Really nice skins and unusual but boy am I mixed in the cosmetics. Nice to see more shirtless mercs tho

I love all the new maps, but Sharkbay is definitely my favorite. The vibe of a port area is super cool, and I love that the boat has the control point. Also, the boats chime when you cap is so cool.
the shrapnel shell does have another style that removes the spikes, like the blast bowl

I cannot describe how happy I am about the Brothers in Blues finally being in the game. The Blues Brothers (moslty the soundtrack) was such a big impact on my childhood and both music & movie are in my best in each category list. To everyone who hasn't watched Blues Brothers: Watch it. It's a classic.

Having played for 10 years so far, these new maps are such a breath of fresh air and nostalgia at the same time. Ended up playing 4 to 5 hours instead of work, considering most games get me bored in under an hour.

I'm not disappointed, I didn't expect to be. It fulfils one of the main purposes of an update - I'm hyped and incentivised to play. Also about the regular items, some cosmetics, paints (I love these wtf???) and effects made me go "woaah"...
I'll be honest, I think this update, for what it is, is great.
Sure, it ain't much, but let's face it, Valve knows that the the only members of the TF2 team at this point are the janitor and the potted plant, so they made do with what they had.
And _Vs. Saxton Hale is now an official gamemode._ I never thought those words would ever be said in that order, but here we are.

There are some hats in this update I've been hoping to see for a while, like the Full Metal Helmet and I'm actually really happy that it finally made it in.
Such a refreshing update. I love how they kept it pretty simple with the cosmetics and warpaints, really makes them belong in the game while not ruining the art style. The maps also look really solid

your videos are always as smooth as butter, no matter what type of video is it.
Something you should do for the cosmetic showcase is to also show what the full cosmetic set looks like if there is one.
This update all in all is a huge banger. There's some issues to be sure, particularly with VSH being broken on launch, but other than that most of them have already been fixed in a same-day patch. The cosmetics are nice looking, though not really any I'd give up a cosmetic slot for, but the maps are absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and have nicely varied gameplay and aesthetics. It's especially nice to get Sulfur which I was in particular hoping for and to get a new PD map that isn't a seasonal exclusive. And having Vs Saxton Hale in official TF2 is just incredible, after all this time. I really can't wait until the update drops to fix it and readd the maps to the map pool. And Bomb Carrier is a really good warpaint.
Definitely the highlight of the cosmetics is the Spy 'The Professional' set, looks pretty sick, considering i just watched that movie fairly recently.

I don't really use a lot of war paints cause I think they look tacky.
The "Secretly Serviced" and "Team Serviced" ones looks amazing especially.

fire nation pyro is one of the best cosmetics of all time you cant change my mind
ok here's my toughts about the update:
1.- the unusual (hat) effects are incredible, even the "worst" ones from this update look pretty good, and also the sakura effect it's gonna be a hit between scout and spy mains who use the all class chinese/japanese hat (i forgot the name)
2.- on taunts, the head doctor is just so smooth clean and overall good, and i feel like the other taunts are also gonna be quite popular because they can be used as actual taunts
3.- on the unusual (taunt) effects i'm already seeing all the pyro mains selling their houses for a pool or piano taunt with the pastel trance or wildflower effects
4.- honestly these war paints are really good, but i feel like most of them will look better on their damaged versions more than their factory new ones
5.- exelent hats, i like all of em
6.- i already played the map with the seals and it just became my favorite ever lol

Yeah, I don't get why people are pretending this is even remotely an "update". But dare to say anything negative about anything, and suddenly the entire fanbase has to come out and scream at you and tell you you're wrong, and a HORRIBLE person for not APPRECIATING the product you spend money on.
It's not just TF2 or Valve fans, either. You either tow the party line and say nice things or a bunch of whiners will cry at you.

Amazing! Do you plan on doing videos like these for previous updates as well? I'd love to see a complete timeline of all the items added in TF2 since Launch in the style of your Video!
One suggestion for the taunt effects: Some of them leave a trail behind if it's a moving taunt. This makes some effects *way* better. Wildflower Meadows does that for example.
And so does the hat effect Fireflies. Seeing if the effects move or are locked onto you would be really cool. Thanks for the showcases!

Weird that they basically gave Spy an identical copy of Sniper's hat. Referencing the same movie, too. Although it's definitely nice it comes with a coat to complete Leon's outfit.
Fire Nation Soldier Pyro is a cosmetic I somehow didn’t know I needed until I saw it in action

The "Deadly Dragon" war paint might be my favorite assassin grade this summer... I would put it on something like a detonator (because it would probably look cool on that), but I already have a matching paint on one, so maybe flamethrower... but who knows, it might be cooler on something like a minigun
