I find pausing momentarily in neutral whilst shifting does take care of the synchromesh, the gear boxes werent built to be rushed at all. The steering box might take some small bit of slack out of the free play with a bit of adjusting, tighten it up and back off a fraction and lock it off.
A Spanish Land Rover. Differs from the British. Manufactured for the needs of Spain. Very robust, they had a hard life in the countryside of Spain where there were many of them, especially in the fields of olive threes in Jaén and Córdoba. From the Spanish countryside to United States lands. Even the plate is Spanish from the province of Jaén (J) where it was manufactured. Take care of him, it is a piece of Spanish automobile history
spanish here, been living in a small rural town in andalucia ever since i was born, and i can ensure these cars can still be seen on rural areas, mostly here in the south
Awesome a beauty Land Rover Series III made by Metalurgica de Santa Ana, today in my third Series III made by Santa Ana, of 6 Land Rover's only Series and one CKD Venezuela Range Rover classic 1978
Just bought my Santana today. Yeah the play in the steering wheel is scary. Also the gear box is pretty wobbly and more a guessing. It’s 500 km home. Already sweating 😓 from that steering.
I winder why the idle speed is so high. And there is a huge amount of steering play. Some people say 'that's how they are'. Not so. I have a Series 3 which had play like that. Total overhaul with new steering box, relay and all 6 ball joints and it now steers just fine. Still heavy at parking speeds but you can't do anything about that (unless you fit power steering). Otherwise, looks a good clean example. Seems to perform well, especially for a diesel.
I use to work in a land Rover Santana dialer that is a 4x4 to be careful with that steering play can be adjusted but always will have play you don't really want to go faster than 60-80 kmh to be safe.
That idle is way too high! Engine sounds like it’s yelling “Kill me please” at around the 7:00 mark 😂😂 I used to have a SIII and they’re so fun to drive! Now I drive a Defender, but, definitely miss my old Series 3 😢 nice driving video! Could work a bit on your gear shifts tho 😅
Dude, you kept talking while driving this nice and well maintained Santana but you haven’t say much about the place you was driving through. It looks kind of less populated with few cars only. Anyway great vid and yes you are lucky to have this Series III Land Rover.
To fix the play in the steering wheel is an easy fix on this car there is a knut to tighten behind the dust cover on the left side behind the left wheel
These types of vehicles are the scariest to drive because it feels like you're at the limit in a parking lot at 15mph but then you have to get on the road and do 40 lmao

Gotta Love that “ Play “ in the steering wheel… 😯

La caja de 5 velocidades de las últimas ediciones era mejor que la de los británicos.

i can smell the stinky diesel exhaust fumes just from watching this
Me too, and it smells atrocious! One of the few things I don't like about diesel cars.
@@brianlee9233 with new emissions equipment, you can't even smell it though. Obviously, this has none lol
I got a headache 😅
Same
Man this is definitely a truck for a certain kind of customer that’s for sure
The idle can be lower just turn the lever under te stearing wheel one notch to the left, but high enough so the car doesnt shake when idle
I got back pain watching this video 😂
