    I learned that in ancient Hebrew that nikkud similar to a little cross under the letter used to be pronounced as “O” sound, but in modern Hebrew most of the time is pronounced as an “A” sound.
    For this reason there are some words that preserve the ancient “O” pronunciation like the word “Kol” that you have taught

In your video there are three type to write letter.It would be great to see all letters, written in all forms in same place.

I was able to download lessons from 1 to 7 and 1, 3 of the Hebrew alef bet. Is it something on your end? And thanks alot for your time and teaching of the Hebrew language and preparing the practice exercise for us.

    Shalom Daniel I know it was in lesson one but I have a question with the letter yod. I was telling a neighbor about your channel. and she said she always pronounced and spelled the letter yod as yud. Is yod and yud used interchangeably or both acceptable? Hmmmm, now as I am typing this question, and listening to this, it sounds like you started out saying yod but as you said it a few times I did hear more of a yud sound. Is I guess both pronunciations are used? Toda raba.

    • @HebrewWithBen
      @HebrewWithBen 5 лет назад +2

      You can use both YUD and YOD interchangeably. The name of the letter is pretty old and probably changed over time. Hope it helps :)

      I believe the formal name is Yod but we mostly call it Yud.

      This is very common in other languages as well. For example, in English the sound ee can be written as ee, ea, ie..
