So sad to see how much of their habitat has been ruined by human development!

Hopefully the quiet means there is a halt in palm oil destruction. Even if its just for a little bit-it helps tremendously.

The problem I have with this facility, as compared to the other Orangutan Rehab places...Is the lack of physical embrace from the staff to the Orangutans. Especially the babies. I have been watching their videos. They feed the little 1 year old babies through bars of cages. If the pick them up, its, only to carry them to vets. And they carry them, with their backs to them. The other places hold the babies close to them while feeding them and just plain giving them love and affection. I have never seen anyone at this facility do that. The other places also hold and cuddle the 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 year olds. They don't do that here. They hold their hands, lead them. Or carry them by their hands. And they lift them up on the ropes or trees. But that's it. And you can tell these babies want so bad to be held and hugged and cuddled. Especially the tiny ones. But they don't do that here. I feel so bad for them. For that reason. I dont donate to this one. I donate to the ones who don't have as modern of a facility, but give the Orangutans the love and hugs they need, along with the medical care and schooling.

I never noticed that but you’re right. I did hear an explanation about that though. Saying they limit human contact so the orangutan can be as wild as possible and not come to rely on human so much. Not saying it’s right but could be their reasoning too.

I wonder if it’s possible to set aside huge amounts of land in a safe country with appropriate weather, for these primates and other primates as well. Maybe Costa Rica? Florida? Australia? There are so many problems regarding the treatment of these precious beings within these countries, so why not start populations in better more safe countries? There are a ton of islands as well.

The only place in earth that sustains the variety and numbers of fruiting trees to accommodate orangutan life are 1)Sumatra and 2)Borneo. It’s not happnin in Florida, hon…

@@jonaswhite5842 What about the other place as I mentioned? Florida could have a ton of fruit trees if someone wanted to plant them. Macaques have been living there for over 100 years.
