I love playing as these beasts in Mount and blade Napoleonic wars, sexy AF uniforms and good weaponry. I use this channel to learn the history of each unit, but for video games not table top hahah

Now the Actual 13th Para Dragons (The Recce Regiment of the COS-Terre) are the heirs of The Empress Eugenie Dragoons, spouse of Napoleon III... and should not be confused with these Imperial Guard Dragoons?
I dont know about that, but in Napoleon's army, they were definitely known as The Empress Dragoons, or more correctly Dragons de l'Impératrice. This could be due to Queen Charlotte of Prussia being Colonel in chief of her own dragoons regiment
@@NapoleonicWargaming they're were nicknamed as such because of the empress of the french (Josephine de Beauharnais) whom Napoleon loved dearly. when Napoleon was dying, her name was among his last words.
They had a slightly different saddle, and the Empress Dragoons had braid that goes from their cross straps to their epaulettes, but how common that would be in combat I don't know! If you painted them with white facings and said to your opponent that these are empress dragoons, I can't see there being a problem
Question, if you can help, Legere, the fusilier companies do they have the large "hanging epaulettes", or just a small shoulder strap, there seem to be so many conflicting accounts and pictures..
@@NapoleonicWargaming , no problem with the voltigeur and carabinier companies having the fringed epaulettes. I had just noticed many pictures and wargamers using fringed all green epaulettes for the fusilier companies, thanks for the info much appreciated.
Question on the use of Cavalry, the Regiment or the squadron. I have not been able to find this out, how did they fight ? Most wargamers might have 12 figure units, and we might say that we are using the "1st cuirassier regiment", but should we use the 3 or 4 squadrons all combined together to make the regiment, or on the battlefield should we break the regiments down into squadrons ?
They'd usually operate as a regiment, a squadron wouldn't really be enough to get anything done on the battlefield. The Austrians are an exception to this as their squadrons were absolutely massive
In a full on battle they'd operate as a regiment, often as part of a brigade (2 regiments) or even a division (2 to 3 brigades). However in the long intervals between battles they'd probably operate as squadrons or companies (half squadrons) for things like patrolling, keeping the occupied peasantry in their place, foraging, escorting supply wagons and so on. So for Black Powder level battles you'd have full regiments and for games like Sharp Practice you'd have companies or maybe squadrons.

My Perry Empress Dragoons are one of my favourite

Thanks bud!
Did the video for grenadier a cheval come out yet?
It did, but there was a whole section missing! I've added it and am re-uploading now. Bear with me for maybe 20 mins or so
video starts at 0:55
8:07 Battle of Maloyaroslavets :)
Can you use the regular Perry dragoons to make these guys?

No. They tended to have the normal shoulder strap. They had elite companies too (carabiniers and voltigeurs) that wore the epaulettes.

actually, lots of chasseur companies in the legere regiments wore hanging epaulettes, but they finally removed them by 1814
