Thank you Gary. It is a land that is not well known and very unique. One of America's hidden treasures if one likes open spaces mixed with some moderate hills. Thanks for watching!
Brings back good memories of my grandparents My grandfather Howard worked for CB&Q and BN from 1934 till his retirement in 1981 he was based out of Alliance yard.😃😃😄😄👍👍
Awesome video, of the good ol days, SURE love them GE U330 C's listening to them horses pULLLL!!!! ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE MY JOHN DEERE A TRACTOR SERIES, 💪👌👍👍✌️ more PLEASE!!💪
I was a kid when the erie lawawanna had and f or e model that I would only see at night for some reason running and I loved seeing that big headlight and big e under it,running down that single track when my old steel making town had lots of mills working.
I was really surprised that BN didn't buy a lot of AC4400s seeing how much they liked the C30-7s. The AC4400s were more reliable having six inverters instead of two like the MACs, not to mention more HP and tractive effort.
Right, but don't forget the cabless B30-7As. They didn't work very well, and BN felt that GE didn't give them proper follow-up support when they had a lot of failures. After that, BN never bought another GE (though they did lease the LMXs). This led to their special relationship with EMD in the development of the SD60MACs and then SD70MACs.
Any locomotive, Wether Old or New, Steam, Diesel, Or electric. They can all be utilized equally. Also, look at those F unit’s pulling Freight. Magnificent.
It really is nice to see those old classic diesels doing what they were built to do - haul freight! Proper maintenance goes a long way… Thank you for watching the video.
Those Canadian F-units were purchased by Canadian Pacific Rwy, who painted them in the classic Beaver paint scheme and operated them on the CP Rail Executive train which ran through the Canadian Rockies. I have a video by another producer which contains the F-units on the CP Executive train. Thanks for your efforts back in the 1990's, Chris!
I only got to see the Nebkota after it was pulled back to Hay Springs, which was tore up soon after my visit. I worked for Dakota Southern and continue to work for the current operator, but several DSRC employees either went to or worked temporarily on the Nebkota. I enjoyed seeing this clip.
Really enjoyed this video. Looks like it's a later version of your Nebraska Panhandle video that I have on DVD and enjoyed it as well. Spent a week in that region in 2007 and did some still photography of trains in Bridgeport to Alliance. Thanks for sharing!!👍👍
2-3 years later many of the green BN C30-7s we see in this video would make their way to Brazil to be regauged and refurbished, where their green and black livery earned them the nickname "Avocados" or "Avocado Engines" many still in service to this day but they're gradually being replaced by AC44i's and the brand new ES44ACi's.
Kind of wish BNSF kept some C30-7’s for a little while longer as BN really liked them. It’d be interesting to see them in H1 paint! But I’m at least happy they still have most of those SD70MAC’s with the executive green paint scheme.
It sure is! Only they are actually cement hoppers converted to ballast cars. But surely do look like coal cars. They are still quite neat. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Not under Nebkota any more. On April 11, 2017 the Surface Transportation Board approved a corporate merger effective in May 2017 between Nebkota Railway and Nebraska Northwestern Railroad with Nebraska Northwestern being the surviving corporate entity
My dad remembers these old units. When he was a kid they were a new thing to see. He loves them. Great to see there still in use .
Thank you Megan!!!!
There is nothing like the sound of an old F unit prime mover! Pure EMD glory
I couldn't agree with you more! They sounded great!!! Thank you for watching!
Old trains, the sand hills, and a meadowlark. What a great video! Thank you!
Thank YOU! I love all those things myself and miss them dearly since moving away from western SD.
Amazing video! Man what I'd give to go back to that!
You and me both! Thank you for watching and commenting!
My wife was born and raised in the area. I love to see videos of the Nebkota and it’s successors.
Thank you Gary. It is a land that is not well known and very unique. One of America's hidden treasures if one likes open spaces mixed with some moderate hills. Thanks for watching!
Great video! This area of Nebraska is absolutely magic. I am so pleased to see it well documented.
Thank you very much! I agree. It is unique and beautiful. I appreciate your comments!
Totally agree! Love driving through this area.
Brings back good memories of my grandparents My grandfather Howard worked for CB&Q and BN from 1934 till his retirement in 1981 he was based out of Alliance yard.😃😃😄😄👍👍
Wow! That is quite a career. I can only imagine what he saw in that time span. Thank you for sharing and watching!

F style cab rides are so awesome…….I never get tired of seeing them. Thanks for sharing 👍
Yes they are! Thanks for watching!!!

What a great memory! Thank you for sharing! I bet that was a sight to behold.
I like the usage of SD40-2s a manned helper units with fuel tankers
It was an awesome set up. And it sounded amazing!
I was really surprised that BN didn't buy a lot of AC4400s seeing how much they liked the C30-7s. The AC4400s were more reliable having six inverters instead of two like the MACs, not to mention more HP and tractive effort.
I agree. I was surprised as well. I hope they do revive many of those MAC's though. Too many laid up. Thank you for writing and watching!
Maybe BN didn't buy AC4400CW's because they (BNSF) buy a lot of C44-9W's (the DC version of the AC4400CW).
Right, but don't forget the cabless B30-7As. They didn't work very well, and BN felt that GE didn't give them proper follow-up support when they had a lot of failures. Love those F units
They were so neat. I really love them too. Thank you for watching!!!

All good ideas!

You are very welcome MJ! Thank you for watching!!
Great video from the Cornhusker State, Nice carbide on the F unit
Thank you so much!

I enjoyed seeing this clip.
Thank you! I knew several guys on the DSRC.

They should make new locomotives that look like F style...great looking locos.
I agree! They are very unique. Thank you for watching!

I do remember hearing about that. I'm surprised they have lasted this long even down there. Thank you for writing!
Great trains and video.
Thank you!
Love the F-unit action
Thank you! Those Nebkota F-units sure were classy…
Looks like the F-units have been Operated
One would think that fuel tender would lift off the rails sandwicheds between those sd40s
It is amazing how it didn't. That's for sure.

I did get to see a C30-7 in H1, but trailing unfortunately. But yes, they would have looked splendid!
Hey I just found your channel amazing video I loved it and I also subscribed
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the rest of the channel!
I miss the bark of a C30-7
We do too, Chad! They were neat units.
Awesome A-B-A set pulling a sting of coal cars.
It sure is! Only they are actually cement hoppers converted to ballast cars. But surely do look like coal cars. They are still quite neat. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Nice Video
Thanks for the visit
Nebraska Gets Tornadoes 🌪 and Nebraska has a-lot of Train Action on the BNSF Ex BN over Crawford Hill Nebraska
It’s some of the best action anywhere!
All sorts of goodness in this one! Those fuel tenders must have had some sort of reinforced frame for that work?
Thank you! I'm not sure, but you would think they needed to be.
I live in Gordon, this entire line is now a bike trail. 😞😞😞
It's too bad. I think that section of line was more viable than the others CNW had.
Is nebkota still in operation?
Not under Nebkota any more. On April 11, 2017 the Surface Transportation Board approved a corporate merger effective in May 2017 between Nebkota Railway and Nebraska Northwestern Railroad with Nebraska Northwestern being the surviving corporate entity
I think the RCPE runs the Ex CNW Cowboy line now
Yes, that’s correct.
All notched out and shit on Crawford hill
The only way it should be! Thanks for watching!
