I can't believe I just realized Koromaru's theurgy is a reference to Cerberus' OG moveset. In the original SMT games on the SNES, Cerberus had a skill called Power Breath that is basically Tarukaja and Sukukaja at the same time. It's a life saver in a lot of late game battles and is probably the basis for Koromaru's Power Howling. I'm glad they still include references like that.

I think my biggest issue with Yukari is that she is stuck with media for a long time. I ended up using Ken as a healer because he had a higher healing output with Mediarama for the early game.
Honestly, Yukari might be my favorite Persona character, hands down. Not only is she a god-tier healer, I also consider her the best written SEES member, rivaled only by Junpei (which feels fitting now that I’m writing it out.) Needless to say, I was very surprised to learn that apparently she’s a divisive character in the fandom? The Answer didn’t even “ruin” her character for me the way I’ve seen a lot people say it did. All of her actions make since when you remember she’s only sixteen and had the love of her life die mysteriously right before her eyes. If you romanced her, she effectively let her walls down for the first time in ten years only to get hurt all over again. If you didn’t romance her, then Makoto died before she could ever confess her true feelings. Finally, if you were unfaithful, you have all the trauma of my first point, with the added tragedy that the boy she’s so broken up over was cheating on her. Hell, Yukari’s so good, Persona 5’s best girl Makoto is basically a dyad fusion of her and Odagiri.
Same. Yukari is the most interesting female character in Persona for me. I really liked how SHE was the one who was overcome with lust in the hotel dungeon. Usually the female heroine is “pure” and the male character would be the one who’d be in that position. But no. And that slapping scene wasn’t even played for laughs or fanservice. She was downright humiliated and projected her own shadow traits onto the MC. I love it when female characters are allowed to be deeply flawed like that. She was mildly thundered but not in an overly exaggerated way. Answer only made me like her more. She’s the best example of the Lovers arcana. She was truly in love with the MC and they really had a future together if you romanced her. Rise was a great character, too. But I felt like her crush on MC was more about running away from the idol life than true love. And realistically, I didn’t see Joker actually marrying Ann (or any of the other girls). Which is fine. 99.9% of the time high school lovers break up. But Yukari was serious and I wanted to marry her, lol.
@@GG-zc7uu Maybe I’m just getting old and sappy, but I really like her social link’s message of “Hey, it’s okay if you can’t do everything on your own. Relying on others doesn’t make you weak.” Honestly, it’s probably a lesson I could learn from as well.
I saw so many people call her a bitch in the base game because she had a realistic reaction to grief and trauma and it bothered me so much. My favorite girl is still aigis but I am Yukari defender forever and always. Also I think the fact that the 2 of them became roommates after the answer is cute
Speaking of Persona 5 girls, I did hear that they're all cut up from Mitsuru, best P3 girl (imo) Foreign appeal/language: Ann Uptight demeanor/intellect: Makoto Awkwardness/also intellect: Futaba Sheltered background/family burden: Haru
Healers in reload don’t seem to be as a major necessity then in other games, due to how ridiculous amount of healing items you can get dungeon crawling
I... had no idea that Akihiko's personality traits meant that ANYONE could buff him and he'd still get the benefits. This whole time I thought he had to do it himself. Now I feel tempted to use him more often.
His Characteristics was also unintentionally stronger than it’s supposed to be due to a typo. When he has a Atk Buff he gets 1.82x Damage buff instead of the normal 1.4x buff everyone else gets (basically he essentially has Amp on everything).
@@SuspiciousScout yes! All that matters is does Aki start the Turn with a buff? No specifics or conditions just as long as he has any then you have met his condition.
For me Mitsuru's key feature is her increased crit rate on status ailments. With the running attack starting battles off with enemies in distress you can trivialize almost all normal battles with just criting everyone immediately Also forgetting about her physical and going all in on ice damage her concentrated blizard edges hit like a truck, and with freeze and ailment boost almost guarantees a freeze which then guarantees a crit from a heavy hitting physical attacker. I was obliterating everything in the answer with Mitsuru despite the 2 bosses immune to this
It frustrates me every time I hear someone says Mitsuru is mid because she's not. Mitsuru's value as a party member is being overlooked because a lot of people don't even bother using ailments to gain advantage in battle. People need to realise how good distress, confuse, and freeze are.
Junpei is one of my fav characters and I used him a lot. But yes, I rarely critted unless I was hitting 4+ enemies, or after getting multiple crit buff equipment pieces...at least the random swords frequently get those.
As soon as Metis learned charge I revolved my strategy around both her and Aigis (with the Siegfried persona) nuking everything in sight after a few buffs from Koromaru
Metis is by far the best party member imo (except aegis ofc). I used her for every boss fight. She has so many great skills that I was at a point I couldn’t decide what to remove anymore. Also the fact that she can resist slash strike and pierce damage late game, has insta heal for every (annoying) ailment and ice + wind skills is insane. There is no way Ken is better than her.
Been running ken, junpei, and Metis throughout the whole thing and about halfway done, glad to hear I didn’t make a bad choice, I loved ken originally even though he was weaker then yukari and junpei was also with me, I LOVED shinjiro too and having him back in the form of Metis is great
@@YandereGogeta he does everything but yet is a master of none. While you can get someone else to fit that exact role. But again just my opinion I put him in C tier
He also has some fairly balanced stats, and his best gear boosts hp and sp, rather than any of his offenses or defences etc. I used him, but almost exclusively as support, not damage, just because his utility is so good. Junpei and Mitsuru naturally hitting 99 in their respective attack stats in the answer caught me off guard. Yukari coming pretty damn close with 95 magic and auto concentrate, I think?
@@koheikyouji Ken outdamages Yukari in Magic coz Kougaon is 350 power to Garudynes 220 even with the MAG stat difference Yuka is weaker. Kens best Dps is his Myriad Arrows coz that Skill is stronger than Primal Force (580 base power) on average.
@@helpihavebats6392 If thats true, thats very interesting. There being such a huge base damage difference between Kougaon/Eigaon and the other elements is a little bizarre if you ask me. Trust ATLUS to still be inconsistent wih how things are labelled relative to how good they actually are... I get that the main 4 elements get an extra tier, but...I dunno. Still rubs me wrong for there to be such a hidden imbalance. As for myriad arrows, you better believe I kept that. I actually enjoy how the 3 physical types 'sort of' have their own specialty.
@@Freakymonkey78 Dont get me wrong, I love using Koromaru, but due to how I have my party setups, there just isnt space Q.Q I only end up going into dungeons with him if i'm training my protagonist. Just a man with his doggo.
I think what could've made Mitsuru better is if they made her similar to Yukari,in the sense of characteristics, since yukari has healing apex you could give Mitsuru a magic apex or a support apex where it reduces the cost of support/magic skills or at the very least spell master in which she learns naturally. Her 2nd Theurgy isnt bad but it makes sense if it was paired up more with ice rather than almighty. Mitsuru is more tactical in what she does and it kinda shows as she has alot of utility within her SP,especially since she has the highest SP pool than any party member(at least when reached up to lvl 99 in the answer). Shes great for grinding especially since she learns spirit drain and ice break so she has no problem staying in the Abyss of Time or Tarturus, she's still good but definitely feels like the odd one out
I think the resource management thing is a little under appreciated on this. Just because you can go back and get full SP, I always felt like I was really punished if I didn’t get arcana burst, most specifically the sun. The one that allows you to make higher level personas. The base game gets you there through social links, but this one doesn’t
😁👍metis never left my party, the same for yukari, I had aki in until mitsuru and that's how i ran the whole dlc, oh and yeah you must have bad luck cause i used junpei a couple times and he was able to get so pretty strong crit damage on a opponent that resistanced physical damage so yeah the legend are true lol.
Here's how i would improve a Magic Caster in persona games like Mitsuru: Simply allow them to learn Concentrate way early on and have them learn all types of elemental skills as Dyne spells once they level up. Not only that but Amps/Boosts for each element too (Maybe even Megidolaon as a final skill)
I dont think early Concentrate would do it. Its an expensive Skill and only ups the dps by 15% so it’s mostly useful for Theurgy even though its only 2x on them in which she is one of the slowest to actually charge :/. What she needs is earlier access to Boosters and Magic to have stronger Skills.
@helpihavebats6392 Sorry if I made some confusion but what you just said is exactly what I meant 😅. She just learns Concentrate as her first skill but immediately learns all elemental magic with Boosts/Amps afterwards, heck maybe even have Magic Mastery as the last amp skill. You would basically have access to things like Zio, Agi, Fire Boost, Elec Boost at the first dungeon!
Trails music = instant like. Great list. Yeah, Ken’s biggest buff, imo, is his instant availability. He joins so late in base p3. And, as you said, his second theurgy is overkill for the base game. The one thing I usually see people miss/overlook in their tier lists is items. Especially the base game where you can end up with a huge supply of sutras without even trying. This makes the debuffs/buffs in party member’s kits more of a convenience than a unique benefit. The answer, rightfully so, makes these items more rare, and thus makes these innate buff/debuff skills really count.
Ken getting Arrow rain is so freaking peak, enemies can get nuked, him being usable early is very nice, I’ll also say this, for Ken give him Luck as an accessory for normal battles to increase his crit chance so you can either shift or end the battle early, and same with Junpei, you’d prob go for strength but luck is a close second
I didn't know if the Great Clock was in The Answer and I was too lazy to grind twilight fragments to check so I ran Metis+Yukari+Akihiko the whole game lmao I also didn't use Theurgy for any of the boss battles to make it more challenging but holy shit the late game boss battles were tough without Theurgy. Then again I was playing on hard and not heartless so this may not mean much
Peronally i found mitsuru and akihiko to be S tier simply because they do good damage and can fish for freeze/shock which works on about evey boss in the game beside the cute doggy but no ilment works on him/her anyway and is mostly a dps rush so the 2 of them are good anyways because the boss keeps switching between phys and magic resist.
I respect this tier list. I used Koromaru for most of the game because of Revolution, which greatly increases Crit rate for all allies and enemies. That might sound bad since it’s for enemies, but you have to know when to use it. You should use it for enemies that mostly use magic skills, but be careful for enemies who use physical skills. I kept using Revolution to hit massive damage and consistent crits with my own Personas and Métis, especially using her Theurgy. You said you never hit any crits with Junpei, but you can hit a lot more with revolution active, so Junpei is still great. Also there charms you can get that give Apt Pupil, Slash Amp, Strike Amp, and Auto Rebellion, which increase damage and Crit rate. Take into account that Rebellion, Revolution, Sukukaja, Apt Pupil, Crit Rate Boost, and Crit Rate Amp can all stack, making hitting Crits even crazier. Koromaru learns Revolution really early, and gets Masukukaja at the half way point, so he can increase Crit Rate and Accuracy/Evasion by a ton. I was abusing these mechanics with Métis and Koromaru’s revolution. Great video!
Correction Crit Rate Boost and Amp (the Skills) while not available to Junpei don’t stack with each other as the game will check for Amp if you have both. The reason Sukukaja is great is actually mostly because in Reload it affects Hit-rolls of Multi-hits making them more consistently hit max or near max hits possible. For examp with Sukukaja Torrent Shot becomes only slightly weaker than Deathbound in effective power and Akasha Arts will on average slightly outperform Gods Hand. The intended benefit of Evasion/Accuracy itself is pretty weak as the game has caps that dont let them be super impactful.
@@helpihavebats6392 I’m pretty sure Crit Rate Boost and Amp do stack, but I could be wrong. I got the idea that sukukaja helps hit Crits more often because one, I saw it used in a speed run with Take-Mikazuchi and Getsu-ei to hit Crits often, and two, Siegfried also learns Auto Masuku, which made me think it was to hit Crits alongside Crit Rate Amp (He learns that too). But I never thought about how it affects the skills that hit multiple times. Thanks for the info!
@@JiyuLJ unfortunately it has been confirmed they don’t as CTOBN (one of the few vocal dataminers) did reveal that the game will only check for Crit Rate Amp if you have both (also the same dude who discovered Sukukaja affecting Multi-hits). Pretty sure the dude also has like a steam page where you can calculate damage for P3R and made the Dps per Level Chart for Party Members (only one for the main game not Ep Aigis as far as i can tell). Never heard anything about Sukukaja having any interaction with Crit Rates though.
@@helpihavebats6392 I just remembered when I made my Siegfried in P3R. He had Brave Blade, Crit Rate Boost, Crit Rate Amp, Apt Pupil, Slash Boost, Slash Amp, Single Target Boost, Multi Target Boost, and Resist Dark. His strength stat and agility stat were maxed. I think because of those skills and his stats, he was hitting Crits WAY more often than my Strike and Pierce build (Their stats weren’t maxed, but had the same skills). There are some skills that say “Do not stack”, the damage Amp skills all say “Can stack”, and some others that don’t say anything at all. Seeing whether the Crit Boost and Amps stack require testing. This isn’t something I want to argue over; I’m just giving my thoughts and I find the Persona skills really interesting to talk and think about. Thanks for the info
@@JiyuLJ I’m fine with not talking about whether Crit Amp and Boost stack. Slash Skills generally have higher base Crits than Pierce and Strike so i would guess the Crit difference might be from that. Theres also the facter of the LUCK Stat as that does affect Crit Rate. Comparisons of Crits between the Phys Elements without factors like LUCK differences. Brave Blade has a base 20% Crit so with Apt Pupil and Crit Amp it goes to 40% + 15% = 55% Crit (Heavens Blade is 30% base Crit but you have to mutate to get as its not transferable so I’m gonna ignore it). Gods Hand has 13% base Crit so again with Apt Pupil and Amp becomes 26% + 15% = 41% Crit. Primal Force is 10% base Crit so yada yada you get 35% Crit (Pralaya is 20% base Crit so same as Brave Blade).
I don't blame you on Junpei not criting. That's the problem with crits in persona, they are very luck based. Junpei alos desperately needs Apt pupil to crit and wven then only late game Junpei can really crit more with brave blade. I agree though that there is no bad party member, just that the other can do more. I really feel like people underestimate magic just because physical are broken, even in reload on merciless, I can still do a lot of damage with magic
I hate you Ken💔my only complaint about Episode Aigis so far (I’m lvl 50ish for reference how far im into the game) is that not once is Master of Tartarus used in any fight. I get Tartarus doesn’t exist anymore but it’d work so perfectly for Desert door fights cuz they literally mark checkpoints like floor bosses in Tartarus.
I think Koromaru should be on higher tier. sure he got nerfed however there one of his skills you forgot to mention which is 'Virus Breath'. That skills are quite busted on it's own rights and make Koromaru more viable.
As someone who has played persona game for the longest time.. I wanna say that, do big pp dmg with op strat gets boring.. And that is why, lately i play persona with ailments in mind.. @furiouscorgi6614 That's make sense, Heartless diff nerf everything including crits rate. no wonder why Junpei no longer landing crits like he used to be. Perhaps this is for the better because Junpei's crits are too busted in base game.
The cost of P3 and FES combined (since that's what the cost is balanced for, people who bought the original game, liked it, bought the rerelease) is very, very similar to the cost of P3R + DLC after adjusting for inflation
Junpei is absolutely broken! U can get dragon boots easily at least b4 the last 2-3 doors. Replaced Metis w/ him and i didnt lose a fight again. Make sure every equip he has on him crits. Even if its a lower stat.
Where people confused about that wording with akihiko? I thought it was giga obvious. It never specified the user. Why did people think he needed to apply the buff to himself where did it say that ...
The wording are quite confusing for most people and i don't blame them. the word 'straightening himself' are implied that Akihiko are the one who need to applied buff on himself in order to make his passive work. and yeah his Theugry description won't help neither
Metis should be number 1 beacuse you literally can't beat the game without her (SEES fight). I didn't use her during my playthrough so i was cooked during those fights.
Is it bad if I only play the 3 same caracters ( Yukari, Metis, Aki) and the other party memebrs are levels behind? Because all my other party memebrs are already 10 levels behind and its grindy to push them all to the same level. For instance I had Junpei in the base game on level 25 and ken and Koro on level 50 while all other party members were level 95+
I think I ended the game with everyone being lvl85? I tend to rock Junpei, Akihiko and Ken for my initial run into the dungeon, then switch to Metis, Mitsuru and Yukari once the others are out of sp. Leaving the dungeon completely to get your sp back resets your arcana card bonuses, and I tend to want to keep them. Koromaru unfortunately got shafted, but id always use the clock bonuses to give him like 10+ level ups at a time, so he didnt fall behind
I'd just like to point out, Ken joins the squad with Mediarama, Yukari has to wait until the middle of the 40s to get hers. If you want to talk usefulness over time? Good luck dealing with the game when you have a healer who can only heal 30% of your hp.
Things are a bit different in Ep Aigis as Kits have been slightly changed. Ken no longer innately has Mediarama and has to wait till 35 to get it (joins Lv25). Yukari however has to wait till Lv 50 to get it (she also joins Lv 25).
@@helpihavebats6392 Ah, right. I'm not just quoting the kit from base game, I just forgot that Ken doesn't join with it in The Answer.
Speaking of Persona 5 girls, I did hear that they're all cut up from Mitsuru, best P3 girl (imo)
Foreign appeal/language: Ann
Uptight demeanor/intellect: Makoto
Awkwardness/also intellect: Futaba
Sheltered background/family burden: Haru
@@helpihavebats6392 Does the powered up buff also count if you enter a battle with Fuuka's Sylphid Aura skill?
@@SuspiciousScout yes! All that matters is does Aki start the Turn with a buff? No specifics or conditions just as long as he has any then you have met his condition.
once i made a persona with auto-mataru, it was over for the enemies at that point. his theurgy was always going off
For me Mitsuru's key feature is her increased crit rate on status ailments. With the running attack starting battles off with enemies in distress you can trivialize almost all normal battles with just criting everyone immediately
Also forgetting about her physical and going all in on ice damage her concentrated blizard edges hit like a truck, and with freeze and ailment boost almost guarantees a freeze which then guarantees a crit from a heavy hitting physical attacker.
Haven't had time to play The Answer yet, but justice for Ken? Holy shit, what a deserved glow up!
Well, of course Ken got justice. Thats his arcana :P
21:00 didn't expect to hear Rise of the Grendel in this video i love that song.
As soon as Metis learned charge I revolved my strategy around both her and Aigis (with the Siegfried persona) nuking everything in sight after a few buffs from Koromaru
THE DISRESPECT TO BLAZE OF LIFE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
The fuuka yamagoatshi made me laugh again. Thank you for that. Loved this video :D
Been running ken, junpei, and Metis throughout the whole thing and about halfway done, glad to hear I didn’t make a bad choice, I loved ken originally even though he was weaker then yukari and junpei was also with me, I LOVED shinjiro too and having him back in the form of Metis is great
Great tier list but Ken in S is wild 😭
He falls off while everyone else starts to pop off later in the game
You think so? He was consistently good imo for the vast majority of the game
@@YandereGogeta he does everything but yet is a master of none. While you can get someone else to fit that exact role.
But again just my opinion
I put him in C tier
Not gonna lie, miiiight be the craziest list I seen yet 😭
Bro was HARD cooking until…
MITSURU AND KOROMARU IN THE SAME TIER????
GET OUT!!
So he was hard cooking...until the list started? xD
Koro was a main stay in party the whole go, double amp, revolution, off hand almighty damage(for the unique fights where enemy resists all typing)
@@Freakymonkey78 Dont get me wrong, I love using Koromaru, but due to how I have my party setups, there just isnt space Q.Q
I only end up going into dungeons with him if i'm training my protagonist.
Just a man with his doggo.
Akihiko + auto heat riser = Win
Don't know whether to laugh or cry about the fact that you said Shinjiro and the protag "went on vacation". Certainly one way to describe it I guess 😂
Shes great for grinding especially since she learns spirit drain and ice break so she has no problem staying in the Abyss of Time or Tarturus, she's still good but definitely feels like the odd one out
Oh God those Miu Iruma voice lines coming from Fuuka scared me shitless
my main game party was aigis ken and koro. so was nice that I get to keep that same lineup swapping out MC for metis.
16:25 - it does most damage in the game... 138 😂
timestamps for each character would have been really pog for this video. Still, great content. Much love
I will add them later when I get the chance 🙏🏻
My boy Ken Amada never left my party in base game and in episode aigis. He is the GOAT
Junpei never critted for me in the base game, so i benched him for Aigis. He crit more for me in EpAigis, but Akihiko was still out damaging him.
You could just use items to heal ailments. Ken was my go to healer
I tend not to use items when I play, but that is an option for sure
Same could then be said about Ken's magic/phys shields, just use items
What's the song used for the Ken section I've been searching for about a hour
Ken getting Arrow rain is so freaking peak, enemies can get nuked, him being usable early is very nice, I’ll also say this, for Ken give him Luck as an accessory for normal battles to increase his crit chance so you can either shift or end the battle early, and same with Junpei, you’d prob go for strength but luck is a close second
I didn't know if the Great Clock was in The Answer and I was too lazy to grind twilight fragments to check so I ran Metis+Yukari+Akihiko the whole game lmao
I also didn't use Theurgy for any of the boss battles to make it more challenging but holy shit the late game boss battles were tough without Theurgy.
I'm still on the early game so I do not have the whole picture yet but I think this tier list is on point though I'd probably put Junpei lower.
8:42 No Dragon Boots? No Omega Drive?
I really think it would be better if the charged theurgia condition of metis would be counted vice versa (like her shifting with too)
I respect this tier list.
I wish Yukari had Salvation.
I didn't use Ken much but he was such a clutch against the reaper cause I was only like lvl 60
The real strongest wildcard is Joker at the end of episode aigis lmao
Ken's got Arrow Rain and Myriad Arrows in the dlc
Did anyone catch he used Miu voice lines from dangonrompa for Fuuka
As someone who has played persona game for the longest time.. I wanna say that, do big pp dmg with op strat gets boring..
And that is why, lately i play persona with ailments in mind.. Except for main bosses that is immune..
Heck since I've played p4g maybe 10+ times already.. I recently played p4g just fill the compendium with lore/myth related or just visually fitting skill set for the personas.. (Save file editor help me with this)
So playing with ailments feels more fun and challenging..
AGREED!!
I also have terrible luck with Junpei. I crit far more often with Yukari and Metis.
I’ve also always been disappointed with Yukari’s lack of damage output, maybe it’s just coming from P4 where Yukiko solos the whole game
Mitsuru was never mid in the 1st place
In reload, yes magic is kind of crap in this game and physical is the meta hence why the likes of junpei and Akihiko get propped up a lot , her ailment niche is also made wasteful because by the end most enemies are immune to all ailments anyway
@@nightwish1453 If you don't have a crit demon Junpei, Mitsuru enables the same playstyle with basically any physical damage dealer without having to grind for a specific gear. Ailments are unjustly underappreciated and it's a shame.

@furiouscorgi6614 That's make sense, Heartless diff nerf everything including crits rate. no wonder why Junpei no longer landing crits like he used to be.
Perhaps this is for the better because Junpei's crits are too busted in base game.
The fact you have to pay to get extra content for what’s supposed to be a premium remake that’s already at the dumb $70 price point is crazy.
Its wording is something like
“When he strengthens himself” this implies he has to be the one to do it.
The wording are quite confusing for most people and i don't blame them. the word 'straightening himself' are implied that Akihiko are the one who need to applied buff on himself in order to make his passive work. and yeah his Theugry description won't help neither

I did remember that Yukari takes ridiculously long to learn Mediarama, I just gaslit myself into thinking I was being too harsh by thinking it was level 50.
Regardless, my point still stands, those are dramatically different times to learn it, and for Yukari it's too little too late.
Not a problem. You can always take advantage of the MC's versatility. Or if you don't want to take damage at all, then use tentarafoo and sexy dance to essentially take away the enemy's turn, though it's only reliable in normal encounters.

Yukari is literally the worst character in the answer. Best reserve healing item-saving battery in the game.
1. Yukari's trait is good for being the best reserve party member.
2. Yukari has the worst damage among every other character.
3. Masukunda is... not that great, at least compared to the other debuffs.
4. Heals and Ailment clears are directly in competition with the item button, literally everyone can be a Yukari in this sense, You can go shop for items whenever you want here so....
5. Concentrate theurgy is bad when Magic is pretty mediocre here. Even so, Auto-Concentrate exists as well as Oracle and Power Howling (Charge equivalent)
6. Metis literally takes Yukari's job in covering Wind weakness. At least Mitsuru has better Ice damage to Metis.
I would argue mitsuru is worse, at least you might use yukari a little bit for the healing in the first few parts of the answer before farming a bunch of healing items, with mitsuru she is the last to join but by then what’s the point
