Acoustic Footprint was recorded in The Great Hall at Christchurch's Art Centre, 08.02.08. Видеоклипы
I actually really like this cover! Jeff Buckley didn't just use his voice to sing words, but he used his voice as an instrument to add body and extra layers to music which I think Kimbra embraced very well.
+Robert Wilson My thoughts, the same!
+Robert Wilson Haha, same exact thoughts flowing in my head!
pervert
Well said mate. Agreed
Why's nobody commenting on Chester Travis's Womb?
This song came out of nowhere and completely blindsided me with how amazing it was.
I came here thinking "Let's see someone else not fill Jeff Buckley's shoes" and left with a new top 10 track.
It is amazing, haunting and it gives me chills. I am trying to find anything on Chester but maybe I am not very good at it. He does not seem to have a facebook fanpage.

Thanks!
Chester Travis oh thank you! good luck :D
At least she has the ability to experiment, most people are too scared to experiment. She's free, and it's beautiful :)
Can we also point out that Kimbra is only 18 here
Dale Malone seriously!!!?? 😧
And....? Youth is an ally in the music process!
Kimbra was great. She really connected w/ that song.
But Chester Travis blew me away. His guitar had a voice of it own. Wow. I'd love to play like that.
The only So Real cover I like. I'm always disappointed when I find covers of this song, but after all these years, I still love this cover.
"I love you... but I'm afraid to love you"
that line IS so real
Ohh that was so mnnneeeeeeyyyyaaaaayyy!!!!!!!
literally spat my drink out laughing, listened then read the comments and thought the same thing :-)
I just died 😂😂
Does she even know he says "real"? Haha.
Grey Matters exactly Wtf does she think he's saying? sorry but why do these people think she's wonderful, ? singing Jeff songs bc it's not..
In singing, sometimes you have to obviate the words to make a sound across the interpretation. It's about the sound and musicality she creates rather than focus on the words.
You can really see this girl loves music. She's one of the people in the music scene today with so much passion for it.
Everyone keeps commenting on how she's ''copying'' Jeff Buckley....it's a COVER...of course there's going to be a certain level of copying. She does an exceptional job at performing this song! To me, this is the best cover of a Buckley song, I've heard so far. Kimbra puts her own twist on this song while at the same time keeping true to the wide vocal range that is required to even come close to the original. I personally enjoyed this! Thank you for posting, and thank you Kimbra for your music!
her control and vibrato is ridculously crazy
Listening to this song, NOW I get why I've liked her voice so much all this time. Her vocal style has this quality that Jeff Buckley's did...tortured keens of melody and raw emotion. I dig.
outstanding ..... it's great to see how seriously every artist approaches covering a Buckley song, and how much feeling they put into it ....... they know they're dealing with sacred stuff ....... John Mayer once covered 'Lover You Should Have Come Over' and then said "I told myself I would never cover a Buckley song, but I guess I had to do that at this moment"...... thank you to every artist that continues to spread Buckley's spirit
It's pretty awesome to see Kimbra with a guitar and still kicking ass. That Travis guy, I've never heard a guitar played like that... it was exquisite. It must have been great having two artists of that caliber performing one after the other.
Holy shit she fucking blew me away! There's only a handful of people who can pull off a Jeff Buckley cover, and she nailed it! Asleep at the Gate also does brilliant JB covers. They are worth checking out. :)
To the Kimbra haters: Her natural vibrato is very much like Buckley's and, if you listen [especially] to her live stuff, you will witness a kinship of uniquity (yes, it's a word).
Solo on an acoustic, Jeff wouldn’t have had it any other way! Kimbra and Jeff have a lot in common as they have an unbelievable sense of control over their voices. Jeff always manipulated his voice and would always change the way the song sounded live with his own little-sometimes huge- inflections. Kimbra does exactly that, always changing the sound of her songs live with a new take on the vocal each time. I absolutely Loved this!!
Any time you cover a Buckley tune you are gonna get flak, but I think Jeff would have loved the shit out of this.
Uh ...no. I know I should be all woman power, but really I 9/10 times cant stand when a female covers a male.... but I dont mind men covering women songs..... I tried and all of the meaninglessness sounds she makes _irritating_ ! His is not irritating!
+NOLAIC CHCK so Jeff wouldn't have liked this because you don't like women?
Jeff loved music & was a cover artist at first so he definitely would've loved to hear his music being sung in different ways. No RUclips back in the day so he never got to hear someone sing his song to him other than live fans in concert.
I can barely handle how awesome this is.
There can never be another Jeff Buckley. This cover is a good interpretation.
Being a massive Jeff fan,I think no one comes even close to him and it's hard for me to listen to covers of his songs without discarding them immediately. However, this cover is good. And if it serves for more people to know about Jeff, then every interpretation of Jeff's songs is welcomed. World would be a better place if more people knew about him.
I bet Jeff would have loved to hear her. Fantastic. Thank you for posting.
I fucking knew she liked Jeff Buckley, she sings exactly like he does
I agree!!!
Sorry. This is an overstatement at best.
I don't think we're listening to the same Jeff Buckley.
"exactly" yeah not quite..
That's a disrespect to Jeff's name. You hear me? A DISRESPECT.
Everyone has opinions and shit, she totally respects Jeff Buckley and decided to sing one of his songs, yes, shes allowed to do that, also so are you so if you think she didn't do it well do your own version no one is stopping you. And yes she is a beast, and no she didn't destroy that song so whatever...
It is a free world and expression is for everyone. This version takes away the power of the chord movements, making it overly strummy and over the top.
Jeff Buckley's sound is all in her music especially voice runs ex: plain gold ring, etc. I saw this video and knew she had no problem getting this right. She did.
I surrender to the talent of this woman. Our generation needs more artists like you Kimbra!
kimbra's vocal range and technique is mind blowing.... it takes a great deal of effort to hold a note with out raising your voices volume to keep it delicate and dreamy.
Her expressiveness reminds me so much of Jeff
Holy shit! That was a straight up tribute! Lovely.
So Real sends chills up my spine every time I listen to it. It is more than a cautionary tale... Somewhere I'm the frames of the video I feel the presence of death nearby...
The song is dark and as a spell
It will haunt me, Well done.
Discovered a new musical like today following Kimbra: Chester Travis.
Thanks
I think the point here is not to imitate, but to sing the song with her own style - I think she did a good job!
Chester Travis's womb is amazing! I already listened to this song almost 10 times, watching the rain drops out of my apartment window, it feels so good.
It's difficult to sing Jeff's songs. Because he sang his songs not with the voice, but soul
Woah, that's like the best description of his singing ever
Souls aren't real
Валерия Дамажецкайте that is the most truest thing I have heard
@@johnappleseed8369 Ez boy we don't do that here
Love Jeff more than life itself, but I think she was great. It's not Jeff, but she did her thing.
Chester Travis is a tried and true troubadour that when given an opportunity such as this only comes with both barrels loaded and holds high mark even with a J. Buckley masterpiece being rendered by his front !! I for one don't have negatives for anyone willing to use media time that is priceless to them and their careers to render a Buckley song !! I think that's excellent and it does only one thing and that is it turns more new ears on to J. B.'s music !!
Kimbra 1to 10 ~~ A 10
Chester 1to 10~~ A 10
I'm absolutely in love with this! I've already heard and loved Kimbra for awhile, but HELLO Chester! LOVE LOVE LOVE your voice! WOW! I am humbled. Beautiful.
OMG My head is gonna explode. an amazing artist covering a legend!! Love them both!
Come on people, she's young here, listen to her music now. It is AMAZING
Thanks for putting up those songs, they're fantastic!
Damm, I really miss Jeff. This is so beautiful, great job!
This video is so beautiful. Much respect to both Kimbra and Chester.
Oh my God! Thank you, Kimbra and Chester, for making my night! Talk about blowing people away!
This is the only one thing I needed of Kimbra to love her much more.
I was totally sold on Kimbra, then I saw this. Now not only am I sold, I am complete and utter awe.
Damn, Kimbra... You nailed it!
Well even though I do not particularly like Kimbra's cover of this song, I have to give props where they are due. I do enjoy when an artist covers a song and makes it there own. Covering Buckley is not an easy task, especially if you are a huge fan of his, however if you are going to cover such an artist my hats off to you for not trying to mimic him 100% after all if that's what your goal was simply throw on a copy of Grace and just listen. I think more artists who perform covers should ad themselves to the songs, that what makes it interesting, in addition it shows your interpretation. So even though I cant say I love this version, I can say great job adding yourself into the song :)
+Aaron Merkatz Yeahh I agree
keep in mind I think she was 14 or 15 at the time of this performance. She's amazing. Creative and unique and an incredibly brave artist which I love about here and applaud
This song mess with my head...
Best cover ever. Thanks Kimbra.
RIP Jeff Buckley
Omg my comment here have 10 years already! And still back to see this amazing woman! Ty.
Wow, amazing voice. I love how much feeling you put inside the song. Wow. Wow. WOW.
I think she made her own version of this song which is great. Playing guitar like that and singing like she did at the same time require talent and loads of practice.
Go Chester and Kimbra!! I am gutted I missed this gig!
One of the best vocalists AND performers of our time.
OH MY GOD I LOVE BOTH OF THEM SO MUCH
Jeff is my hero and one of the only artists I have connected with on so many levels. Having said that, the negative responses to a young lass covering a good song instead of the shite that is usually out there is truly stupefying. What are you defending? The man is gone and we miss him. Let his music live through those who it touched
full of feelings... simply amazing
Only keep coming back for Chester !!
I clicked on the video for Kimbra. I didn't know Chester Travis, glad I do now!
Loved it!!! Shot!!!
Holy shyyt!! I love Kimbra! x3 so addicting!!
Jeff is my favourite musician, never heard of kimbra,
I don't understand why people are saying "She was only 17" who cares? This is an amazing cover
I love this! I wish she would do more stuff like this!
Jeff Buckley loved doing covers, so I am guessing he'd happy to hear someone else sing his songs
good insight.. I love her and think she is crazy talented
Amazing artist!
Oh Kimbra, how I love you so! Every song I hear from her, I fall even more in love with her voice.
Fantastic!
This is so good!
I think they both did a great job! Chester...you've got an amazing voice!
omg.. amazing! ♥
I don't understand why people hate this? I love it.
absolutely amazing this would've stunned jeff
Kimbra and Chester both did a great job! :D
I love JB's music. And this is just the best cover of this song I have heard yet. I would like to hear her have a go at "Lover, you should've come over".
thank you
💖✨Jeff's soul with (out) his voice...
This is so cool, i love that she chose to do this song. She did a good job. Ive never heard anyone match the power of Jeff Buckleys voice and connecting as well as he does.. its just impossible.
fantastic cover by the way.
Thank you very much Bill Davidson!
While I didn't know all these things (except for the death due to drowning in 1997), and I found it to be beneficial! I was actually asking about the date of the performance of Kimbra, and Chester Travis in Tribute to the Musical Genius Buckley!
Thanks once again though.
Enjoy
it was a good cover and effort. no one can one's pain better than one himself. and that applies to buckley and everyone else. he wrote it, so logically he does it better than anyone else.
I love that you mentioned "The Build Up"!!!
That is no doubt my favorite on the album, along with "Withdraw".
Amazing!! A tribute to an amazing artist who was taken from us far too soon...
beautiful. I really, really enjoyed her approach to sounding out some of the words.
Great work
That was a worthy cover. Jeff himself would be proud I'm sure.
Defo. I think Jeff would have loved Kimbra. She has a bold, brave voice an independent strong individual style. On record, Jeff has more covers than his own original work. So what if she covered his song? Jeff is Jeff and nothing can take that away from him. A die hard J.B fan!
Ella es una maestrita, mis respetos y las mejores energías, realmente no deja de impresionarme su interpretación tan impecable...
3:33 something very special happens...one most talented artist gives way to a gentleman that has created something so magical I can not describe it's meaning to myself!
No doubt!! Kimbra IS a Jeff Bukley Fan ... I knew it.
this look amazing I can't breath words missed me
After this performance I think I love Kimbra more...Kimbra & Jeff, what a wonderful couple would be!!!
And on guitar!!! The Talent! Oh The Talent! Go Kimbra!
i loved her before but now knowing she can play guitar that well i love her even more
wow, I totally agree. hes amazing.
I love her and everything she does...
It's obvious that never in this whole planet will exist someone who can reach Jeff bucley but i'm glad that his music keep going through artists and people, this means his music is alive, by the way i think this cover was pretty decent..
This is actually an amazing cover
I thought this wouldn't be that great but she did indeed do a great job on this one
she plays it as if it were her own. so much heart, that gyal.
Her own music? Cover? So what! Sounds like Kimbra! It's her doing another's song her way. LOVE IT!
Kimbra and Chester do a pretty great job here - both are so excellent. In a post-modern world where so much appears to be a simulacrum - a copy of a copy - perhaps this is a copy unique to them both. I love her chorus!
