Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! :-) I played with Jeff in the 80's just a stone's throw from Disneyland in Anaheim, Ca and I am blown away by this tribute! I reckon Jeff would have loved it... I know I do! :-)
Oh my! Little jealous :O, thou with a friendly manner :). I hope you had a great time playing with him! I've listened him many years and devastated that I wasn't able to see him live. He was such a tremendous musician but sadly not so known I suppose (?).
How could this woman be any better? NOT possible !! Morgan, you are cat's meow, the doggie's bark ..... and the spark that sets our souls on fire. We love you. The McGraw's
Morgan, thank you for presenting "Hallelujah" in much the same way Buckley did. I am so tired of people referring to this song as a hymn. While there are religious and biblical references, it is not, and was never intended as a hymn nor should it be sung as such. Your version and Buckley's are the best I've heard and the most faithful to what I believe was Cohen's intention when he wrote the lyrics.
People are not smart. They take a song about stalking, "Every Breath You Take" and play it at the first dance at a wedding. Cohen's song is about lust and desire and pain. It's not a hymn. Thanks for listening!
To cover just one of Jeff Buckley's song requires as much talent as it does guts let alone to cover his entire album Grace live without any edits or overdubs.. wow, just wow.
As I have listened to Jeff over the years the thing that is most special about his voice is the timbre. He has a beautiful, very pure, jazz like timbre to his voice that is completely unique to him. Singers covering his songs will never be able to capture this magic. He's one of those artists I think that probably should be covered rarely as it is such a task trying to get anywhere near the magnitude of his vocals. His vocals are otherworldly.
Can't believe I've just found this. I've known Morgan's unearthly singing skills for quite a while, and I've also been a huge fan of Buckley ever since I was a teenager. Incredible performance. Amazing artist. The greatest cover she could've recorded. I'm deeply touched. Love from Brazil!
I don't know where i was that didn't knew this masterpiece exist. Grace is one of the greatest albums of all time and Morgan, one of the best voices of our era. Thanks for this gift, Morgan, I love your voice and Jeff's music. Just thank for this incredible piece of music.-
Thumbs up just because you did a full album cover of this. Wow. "Grace" was excellent. Instrumentals and vocals were intimately close to the spirit and essence of the original. This cover had a reverence rarely heard in others. Thank you.
You are incredibly talented. After seeing you in San Antonio last month I can say that your voice is just as perfect as any video I've seen of you. Can't wait to see you again.
Found you yesterday (26th-Jan-2021) on PMJ performing "Dream on", Binging you since then in spare time, God you are pure gold. Every song is an emotion for you, Morgan. In every song there comes a moment I get chills feeling those emotions through your voice, your expression, your whole existence becomes the song. May god bless you with happy life. 🥂
Morgan James - one of my favourite singers in the world covering one of my all-time favourite albums. Wow! Blown away by the skills. And the guitarist (her husband?) is also amazing.
At first I was a bit sceptical, covering Jeff Buckley is so hard, because it seemed impossible to honour such a legend with a voice and songs that distinct. But I was amazed at your take on it, your version brought tears to my eyes and your technique is just out of this world. I loved it.
Just one record so poignantly titled "Grace" and then he was gone. Yet, the beautiful Grace that is Jeff Buckley's Spirit continues to inspire wonderful singers like Ms. James to keep his music alive. Not even the needlessness of a life taken so soon and so unfairly can still the heart that continues to beat in beauty of Jeff Buckley's beautiful legacy, what a Magnificent example of Grace.
never heard of this gal..... what a glorious creature ......... it's great to see how seriously every artist approaches covering a Buckley song, and how much feeling they put into it ....... they know they're dealing with sacred stuff ....... John Mayer once covered 'Lover You Should Have Come Over' and then said "I told myself I would never cover a Buckley song, but I guess I had to do that at this moment"...... thank you to every artist that continues to spread Buckley's spirit
Being a huge fan of Jeff Buckley I always tend to overanalize every cover pr rendition I come across, I am absolutely amazed and happy over this beautiful piece of art, with an incredible vocal control and an impressive range it was the perfect portion of the essence of the songs using her own twist allowing the performer show personality (fierceness, passion just to name a few) I must admit I think I died a little bit during Corpus C. Carol, the music arrangement was on point, and her voice harmonized with the sound in a very graceful (pun intended) and intimate way, I'd have to call this a favorite.
Great tribute! I love Jeff , his genious and his deep way to touch himself and to others... now you and your musicians touched me. You’re such a gorgeous singer Morgan!
Goosebumps on my feet, arms and even head through the whole performance. I adore Jeff Buckley and I suppose he would've loved your interpretation. You're magnificent Morgan James!
loved your lover you should've come over cover, and trust me...that's a huge compliment. And congrats to the guitar player, his arrangement was awesome
That was simply awesome. Thank you so much for helping to keep his music alive. For me, the most perfect album ever created. His candle was extinguished way too soon...
Dear Morgan, your wonderful voice always touches the deepest strings of my soul. Your covers reveal the stories of famous songs in a new way. I always include my daughter your youtube channel because I want to instill in her a taste for good music. I sincerely wish you happiness, success in all endeavors and always remain the same energetic and purposeful. I hope that someday will come true my dream to visit your concert in Russia. Lover, You Should Have Come Over.... are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?!! Devastated. 1st time, and every time. Good god, whatever Jeff was feeling, Morgan and Doug tap into that cosmic force field and wring every last drop of emotion out of it.
Morgan's performance is amazing here. Keep in mind that those are Jeff's songs, tailored by himself for his own very unique voice and unformatted singing. You almost can feel at some moments, that Morgan is in terra incognita. She really does a wonderful job and IMO, any tribute to Jeff is always welcome. The guitar could've been tighter on Mojo Pin though (somehow made me think of Rita Moreno and the Animal)
I almost bailed because of the sloppy guitar work on Mojo Pin (confusingly bad and actively distracting from the gorgeous vocals). Glad I hung in there though, it gets better
