Keep working at it. I've been playing the game for 10 years competitively and didn't get my first day 2 until Indy just a couple months ago. Keep at it. Maybe next you'll win a regional
casually, zmoves were really cool, I think they were a fun and interesting mechanic to utilize throughout the games. Competitively, I found that - besides blocking knock off, which was probably one of the best moves in the entire meta - z moves were too generic and splashable for the immediate high impact value they had. Especially in singles, where you'd basically spend the whole game guessing who was the z move user, while mons like volcarona or magearna would abuse their wide and strong movepool to not reveal which color their nuke was gonna be when they dropped it, and also to check mons that would otherwise be total counters enabling them to often just 6-0 a team
