There's something very funny about not buying a vampire killing kit because it's not "real". No shit dude. That doesn't mean its not an interesting example of 19th century cosplay post-Stoker. The exact choice of pistol doesn't really matter in that context. They picked one that looked cool...and that no one was using because it was obsolete? The pistol doesn't tell you when it WAS made. Because it's a prop.

The Count counts because he is The Count... Only in Chinese folklore do 'vampires' have to count grains of rice when they come across them. The Count on sesame Street is based off of western vampires that do not involve any lore about counting at all.

    • @cargo_vroom9729

@@elphbwckd212 Well obviously the name is also a pun. But you are incorrect about it being unique to Chinese vampires. Being compelled to count also appears in Slavic folklore among others.
And like...your argument is that his counting obsession is definitely unrelated to vampirism because not *all* vampires count. Myths and folklore gets crossed all the time, it's called syncretizing. That's evident in us calling all these different creatures "Vampires" despite being different things from different cultures that have little more in common than being predatory undead.

I know Japan has it vampire phase you can see a lot of things in the Vampire Anime. A lot of it based on draining essence in multiple ways. Never knew about rice counting but I bet you could find myths that do count rice as a method to stop them and you probably find a few similar things to vampires which would show a potential link to them combined. The employees complaining about having to wear a costume and then Rick being annoyed saying why they have to do the costume thing, kinda breaks the whole illusion of them being the "fun pawn shop," no? Lol
You know the producers forced that on them, and probably picked out the costumes for all of them. Which makes the dude at the end 100% correct 😂

He hasn’t been in trouble for drugs since 2016 and as far as I can tell it was never described as a raging addiction, he was more in trouble for the weapons and the drugs were an incidental find. Seems like he’s had a pretty good 2024 and has a successful and happy life. Also I didn’t look into all their net worth’s but his is estimated at $5mil and he’s apparently got a few successful business to his name so he’s nowhere near as incompetent, at least in terms of his own business pursuits, as he seems or portrays.

Starting the day after my grandmother died, at 6 30am, 7 days in a row, a black shadowy figure walked into view of the garage camera the exact path she walked to her car every morning to go to work. The figure "gets in" the would be car and backs out and heads off as if going to work. 7 days in a row then never again. Very see through, very faint, almost cloudy. You can imagine how i felt. I took care of her till the end then that shit! Fudged me up for a bit. This is 100% true. But that doesn't mean jack to you as the reader for good reason. Having your own experience that you know is real will morph your opinion of what's possible.

"A Kowakian monkey-lizard with a shrill cackle, Salacious Crumb sat on Jabba's dais, stealing bits of food and mimicking the Hutt, his courtiers, and visitors. The Hutt's noxious pet was the palace's unofficial court jester, tolerated because his antics amused Jabba, and because of his unwavering support for his master." My husband is Jabba, I'm Salacious. Although I often forget his name and can only come up with Felonious Krump.

The vampires counting salt thing comes from the idea that came around later that vampires might be a type of fae/fairy. The original victorian kits mostly assumed vampires were demons, and I think the inclusion of the salt indicates that Rick is right that it's probably a 1980s-90s thing, since the idea that vampires were fae came around later than the victorian era
