One had nothing but old moldy magazines and salt rock lamps in it. The best one however, was just filled with tread mills and blenders. I got one as a Christmas gift, and before you ask which I got a treadmill or a blender. Yes.
Like seriously who thinks people are going to store their high value items in a storage locker? Like MAYBE 1 out of 100 would have something worth anything like a piece of antique furniture worth maybe a thousand bucks. But nobody is putting their 1800's Stradivarius violin in a storage locker.

Honestly, I heard from extras who were on the set that many of these storage units are completely fake. They don’t belong to anyone. They just fill these units with a bunch of random old junk and then pretend to bid on them. Real storage units do get liquidated, and sometimes they hold auctions, but it’s not as common as people think. The only lockers that show up on the show and are actually real are ones belonging to people who want their stuff to be featured.
I really enjoy this channel really bringing back the memories of younger me watching late 2000-2010s. (Sometimes often modern day) highly live action scripted television both The Good, The bad and The strange.
I worked for a storage facility. There was never anything good in the units that were auctioned off. And removing the lock with an angle grinder was exactly how we took them off, lol.
No one would keep valuable shit in a unit and then not pay it. People only don’t pay when they don’t give af about losing what’s inside… cuz it’s garbage
Its baffling and borderline infuriating that this man doesn't have like millions of subs at this point. Genuinely one of the funniest people on the internet. Clearly the algorithm is incredibly flawed bc youtube should be recommending this channel wayyyy more than it does.
Another one of those war shows I like is “shipping wars” basically it’s just people who haul these huge items. It’s really interesting if you wanna give it a watch
I know this stuff is all fake but as someone who works in self storage I gotta say I’ve never seen someone cut a cylinder lock with an angle grinder like that… and without PPE, no less 😂 2:16
Same, I had a full face mask when I cut locks and wore gloves because those sparks burned when I worked in Storage Facilities. . . The way he's doing it looks like he had to have scratched the top of the hasp
My dad went to one of those auctions. He didn't bid. He offered a guy 10 bucks for a stereo on someone that did bid on a pod. That stereo worked for a couple of years.
Chris you 100% should go to a storage auction, your top tier when it comes to commiting to a bit haha would love to see a storage auction from ur perspective
My boss owns storage units and I can tell you from experience that no, there is in fact not a better way to open the lock than taking an angle grinder to it. Often times bolt cutters don't work, and drilling them out takes forever.
My mom was on the OG show... they didn't have extras and they asked her to bid on a storage and told her not to worry they just need her to bid two or 3 times but she won't really have to buy it... now everytime I get reminded of this show I just remember my mom putting up her hand 😂
One of the funniest things about this show is how they find that one item that they have to get appraised by an “expert”. Then that item is super profitable. I vaguely remember some guy who bought a storage full of newspapers for a few hundred and somehow it was worth 10x what he paid. Newspapers!!
former storage manager here: angle grinders are, in fact, the only way we were able to remove most of the high security locks. as for the cylinder locks (think filing cabinet lock), we had to drill them out directly through the series of inner workings. fuck my life.
At a storage facility; when a locker goes into default and is going to be sold, The Storage Facility will cut the previous owners lock off. This keeps previous owners locked out so they can't get in and remove items after going into default. The lock cutting at the auctions is just for show.
So i'm only a minute in and i have to say, Storage Wars is a guilty pleasure of mine. SW, Pawn Stars, and all those crazy shows...maybe i'm just old but it just makes me jimmy in my jammies (No, i dont know what that means but i just wanted to say it)
My favorite storage wars fact is how they tried to screw over a local trading card shop nearby and selectively edited footage to pretty much make the owner look like a scumbag, drastically hurting his business.
My Sister and I met some of them at my storage building a few years ago. I really can't tell you which ones it was because I've never seen most of any show they've done. My sister asked me to take a photo of her and one of those dudes. Ohh, it was here in Huntington Beach, CA.
lol my aunt & uncle did this briefly, well before the show. They were used book dealers, so it wasn’t a terrible idea, but reselling is a very labor intensive lifestyle & they ended up moving their shop online in like 96, and did very well in their retirement career, ended up a well known fixture at northwest USA sci fi cons & re-retired in their early 80s. I’m 54, and my uncle was still older than me when he started his dream career.

Just found your channel. Even though I only wachted a few reality show growing up(one of them storage wars) I'm really enjoying your videos. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face
the canadian one is fire (as a canadian) seeing all these places i’ve been to around ontario each episode, and the characters are goated no matter how scripted it is 😭
Yes! I’m so glad you found this one 😂 I used to watch this show on TV years ago and I forgot this was also the episode with the mini stock cars. Everybody loses their minds.
My favourite part of the show is when they make incredibly unrealistic predictions about how much money they can make off of each item. Leaving reality behind at the speed of light 😂
depends. here in the us, a track car would probably not have any registration or anything. so it could only be driven on private property, like a race track. those cars are usually built from scraps.
The two episodes with cars in them I'd seen of Storage Wars they always specifically stated to the audience the car is a separate option not for sale. Did the series stop doing that later on?
I work at U-haul and when we auction these off, it's literally the same thing. They come in with a big grinder and cut into it because the locks are high security and can't be cut easily or quickly picked. We either grind it like that or drill out the center.
You really need to do shipping wars. That show aggravates me so hard. The things they make the “shippers” do is so I’m unrealistic and no way a real shipper would ever put up with. One of the few shows I call bS so fast it makes my own head spin.
Hey Chris, thanks for posting today, we were on a binge watch of your episodes, so perfect timing! 😃 Also, don't let your dreams be just dreams, bedazzled your jeans so that you too can have a pair of sick ass jeans
Hi Chris! Love the channel, I discovered it a couple of weeks ago and I'm working my way through your back catalogue. But please man, stop trying to make me cook dinner. It's 9:30pm and I'm at work on a night shift. Keep up the good work though
There was nothing more addicting back then compared to Storage Wars, Pimp My Ride, and Pawn Stars. You would literally just watch that shit all day in a hotel and 4 hours go by just like that.
So i worked in storage for bout a year. 2:29 the only other way to get in would be the Tenet’s key. Most tenets who go into Auction normally are Deceased or avoiding payment. If there was an easier way they would, but the storage facilities have those angle grinders for any type of lock cutting situations (tenet loses key, door repairs ect.)
8:14 Also with the Cars (yes ik they are race cars) but most of the time if the facility doesn’t have the title they cant sell em but dont quote me when it comes to race cars as well that could be a different ball game lol
So glad I've never watched a staged storage show. Most the shows our dear Chris posts I've never watched but I can when Chris posts about it Edit; that's literally a mini stock car. It's not real and they're acting like it's real and worth big bucks
Those locks aren't from the storage facility, they're occupant provided usually and you can take a crowbar to them but that could damage the storage unit so the angle grinder is the quickest and easiest way.
For the rest of the 20 schlubs who show up for the auction: The regular cast of the show are only allowed to bid on pre-authorized units. Those units may or may not be set up by the show beforehand. The rando's get to bid on other units in unfilmed segments.
Chris, I desperately need you to do an episode about the Doomsday Preppers episode where instead of stock piling, the guys prep and plan to be looters and marauders. It has lived rent free in my head for years.
Chris I have the best idea/suggestion!! You should do a series (similar to the milf manor one how each episode is a video) reacting to the old vh1 reality shows 😂 they're so hilarious. I recommend starting with Flavor of Love 1, bc thats arguably the best/craziest one and it kinda kicked off those shows. But there are sooo many other good ones.. I Love New York, Rock of Love, Charm School, I Love Money, the Ray J one I forget what its called, etc. Please it would be so perfect! First off.. its all comedy gold. And second.. its similar to the 00s mtv shows in the sense that there are constant reminders of how different the world was back then, but it doesnt feel scripted at all lol prime has most of them for free, and the ones that cost money are all on Pluto 😂 just plz consider it!!
lol, my coin collecting dad roped me into going to storage auctions. we ended up being in that business for two years. The top 2 things we found in every unit was trash and nudey mags
When Chris said about Ursula going to see a buyer and hoping it’s Jeff in a moustache I thought of one of the Smiths in American Dad going to see someone and finding out its Rodger in a disguise

I remember we would always do that with the original.
Its baffling and borderline infuriating that this man doesn't have like millions of subs at this point. Genuinely one of the funniest people on the internet. Clearly the algorithm is incredibly flawed bc youtube should be recommending this channel wayyyy more than it does.
facts because i be lmao every video
YT has gone to poop with the live feeds.
All it takes is some misuse and that disk is going straight into the man's skull
Yall should know that unless OSHA is around anything flies on tv
Same, I had a full face mask when I cut locks and wore gloves because those sparks burned when I worked in Storage Facilities. . . The way he's doing it looks like he had to have scratched the top of the hasp
@@Tysandifer Tbf y’all should know that anything flies when OSHA ain’t around period lol
OSHA has no jurisdiction in Canada!
My dad went to one of those auctions. He didn't bid. He offered a guy 10 bucks for a stereo on someone that did bid on a pod. That stereo worked for a couple of years.
I love rewatching some of the shows I'd see as a kid now as an adult on here. Man they are so much weirder than I remember lol
Chris, you grew up as such a sweet and charming young man, I'm very proud of you.
lol wtf are yu his uncle?
Newspapers!!
former storage manager here:
angle grinders are, in fact, the only way we were able to remove most of the high security locks. as for the cylinder locks (think filing cabinet lock), we had to drill them out directly through the series of inner workings. fuck my life.
2:10 hey man mountain monsters ain't just a show...its a whole experience
At a storage facility; when a locker goes into default and is going to be sold, The Storage Facility will cut the previous owners lock off. This keeps previous owners locked out so they can't get in and remove items after going into default. The lock cutting at the auctions is just for show.
Not a joke: 90% of my wardrobe is from dead friends and family. They just give to me, because they know I want it.
Great episode to watch while on my lunch break, 10/10. Much better than my original plan of going to bid on storage lockers
I heard that dogs got a spin off, but it only lasted one season
This sounds real considering how many storage war spin offs there is.
Those inside out Hawai'ian shirts are copies of Reyn Spooner shirts. Those were only available in Hawai'i, and they marked you as a native back in the day. Now, every haole on the mainland wears them like when you drive through Iowa and see a salt life sticker on a minivan that's never been within 500 miles of a sea
Haole.
*Lights cigarette*
Bruddah, not heard dat since 2002.
My little white ass used to be able to talk all the slang! I loved it there, so much. Idc, make fun of me, but lemme play in the ocean while auntie and unk makes food dat breaks dah mouth.
@@RealBradMiller shaka brah. I understand. I'm not making fun
My mom would watch the US version of this sometimes. I'd always hear the guys going "YYYYYEP" during the bidding.
Also doggone those incessant confessionals. They're as constant as the ones in Total Drama Island, and at least that's a cartoon.
Finally someone talks about this show.
I used to watch the original Storage Wars. Loved 2 things about that show, Barry and Brandi. Actually, make that 3 things..
Ppl say most content these days is slop and I agree but I appreciate that you take the time to feed us high quality slop❤
My favourite part of the show is when they make incredibly unrealistic predictions about how much money they can make off of each item. Leaving reality behind at the speed of light 😂
Old bit of cardboard? That’s $100. Broken food processor? Easy $200? Unbranded ashtray from the 90s? That’s a $100 bill!
I used to watch Storage Wars cause i was like "Oh this sounds so cool. Hidden treasures in a storage unit~"
I lived for this show (American version) when I was younger. This and Billy the Exterminator were my absolute favorites.
So u can’t obtain ownership of a vehicle in a storage locker. The auction is supposed to not include the vehicle in the auction
Yeah a lot of the storage bidders hate this show because they will just throw in a car and a trip to Hawaii in a locker for drama.
depends. here in the us, a track car would probably not have any registration or anything. so it could only be driven on private property, like a race track. those cars are usually built from scraps.
You're telling me Canada actually exists? I live here and I don't even believe Canada is real
At least on Pawn Stars you could learn some random things that at least *occasionally* was a little interesting.
Please catch up on mountain monsters, it’s even more insane now. Also, thanks for the little ad bar. Always appreciate quality of life upgrades.
Hey Chris, thanks for posting today, we were on a binge watch of your episodes, so perfect timing! 😃
Also, don't let your dreams be just dreams, bedazzled your jeans so that you too can have a pair of sick ass jeans
Hi Chris! Love the channel, I discovered it a couple of weeks ago and I'm working my way through your back catalogue. But please man, stop trying to make me cook dinner. It's 9:30pm and I'm at work on a night shift.
Keep up the good work though
"They're so fucking tense because they're doing this on their lunch break." For some reason that idea has me cracking up! 😂😂
Just saw they were sims 😂
So glad I've never watched a staged storage show. Most the shows our dear Chris posts I've never watched but I can when Chris posts about it
Edit; that's literally a mini stock car. It's not real and they're acting like it's real and worth big bucks
Those locks aren't from the storage facility, they're occupant provided usually and you can take a crowbar to them but that could damage the storage unit so the angle grinder is the quickest and easiest way.
I genuinely enjoyed storage wars while it was on, I remember they'd be on back to back on a channel like A&E on a Sunday with Duck Dynasty lol
Ursela needs to shoot a corn scene with that outfit. Paul Bunghole
This Harvey Davidson I'm going to say ten bucks. Um this cardboard box is worth day $100. It's like they have no concept of value
lol, my coin collecting dad roped me into going to storage auctions. we ended up being in that business for two years. The top 2 things we found in every unit was trash and nudey mags
Bring back the Joe Schmo show Eps! I’ve been waiting on that 😂
I like the bar that goes all the way around the screen, but moves way faster. makes me feel like we're getting through it quick.
I appreciate you putting a visible timer on the ad reads, guess we're not even pretending anymore that anyone pays attention during those
When Chris said about Ursula going to see a buyer and hoping it’s Jeff in a moustache I thought of one of the Smiths in American Dad going to see someone and finding out its Rodger in a disguise
I’m begging you please make longer videos! These 15-20 vids isn’t enough 😢
You should do commentary on some old unhinged British shows like Secret Eaters, Rich kids go skint, and the crossover with Worlds strictest parents, they are hilariously unhinged and old enough to be somewhat obscure 😅
Chris don’t you dare disrespect the main storage wars that’s a comfort show
I’ve been working at storage facilities for 2 years now and I can vouch that it’s not as exciting as this. All the auctions are online these days thanks to Covid.
Working a storage place (Uhaul yes we had storage units lol) we would have to use bolt cutters, so an angle saw is a heaven sent
