This show was filmed in my home town. The pawn shop is closed now and was a shit hole even when it was on tv. Most of what you see on the show was never actually in the shop.
People seem to have this weird delusion on how pawn shops work. They are not there to pay you what you found out on ebay or some internet site what "YOU" claim your item is worth.....They are there to QUICKLY give you money for something, either because your too lazy to sell it yourself OR because even you know your need money and are never going to get what your internet sleuthing claims its worth. They don't care that your vidja gaem is worth $5000 dollars, its going to sit in their shop or warehouse for lord knows how long because they're not trying to sell things for ebay money either. The entire point of a pawn shop is you are desperate for quick cash or lazy
I had to pause the video until I stopped laughing my ass off when that guy tried to sweeten the deal for the Bonnie & Clyde car by asking for an alligator or goat. 😂🤣💀
I just looked it up, and a $10,000 bill with a higher serial number and lower grade sold for $480,000 in September last year. I hope he got that bill back....
this has gotta be entirely scripted. like maybe the bills were real but the whole transaction was so fake. no way someone desperate enough to pawn valuables like this walks away from half a mil for the incredibly low chance of being able to pay back that 20 grand. especially cause he's still gonna have to pay his employees during that time. like if you can't afford payroll, how you gonna afford payroll & a loan? it's either entirely scripted or he's literally the dumbest man alive
@@jerseyjess7826 He said he made a big purchase of inventory. Clearly he's gonna sell that and make some money. Maybe he got a great deal on whatever he sells/makes and can make a bunch of bank. I grew up, and still live in Alexandria, La (where the shop is). It is an awful, awful place to live, and that family are a bunch of inconsiderate crooks lol. The show was cancelled partly because they supposedly bought something they knew was stolen.
Power tools that a guy stated were stolen from him. When police came with a warrant to check serial numbers Johnnie did not cooperate and was arrested. They lost multiple legal battles about it. And yes, they were stolen.
Exactly I was gonna comment this lol as soon as I saw the thumbnail as a Alexandria native just started laughing, they were horrible and I spent alotta time in chemistry class looking at that damn sign 😂
I was told a story once about one of the times B.B. King played at the Paragon Casino. He was holding some kind of meet and greet, signing thing before the show, and Johnnie and a woman were spotted heading that way with a stack of what looked to be like, 50 or so 8x10s of King. They got pointed out, and management banned them from getting anywhere near B.B. King that night lol
My mom was actually asked to be a character actor on the show since we frequented the pawn shop so often since my dad had a bad habit of selling our stuff
Not sure if you've ever covered Hardcore Pawn, but that one is definitely worthy of a watch. Heightened drama, constant fighting, employees cussing out customers and vice versa. It's great.
I actually think getting wasted and hanging out at the pawn shop sounds kinda fun. Edit: Absolutely love that bro was gonna sell what he wanted to pass off as an honest to god fuckin alien for $200.
"If you don't have a biscuit cornbread'll do" doesn't make sense to me, because I'd rather have cornbread than biscuits. Now, "If you don't have cornbread biscuits'll do." I understand.
I remember being locked up back in the day and this being the only thing playing on TV this lame history Channel stuff. Worst part is you couldn't hear because the inmates were so loud. Thanks for the video
Hitting all the pawn shows I see. Perhaps the next will be "Hardcore Pawn" that aired on TruTV if you can find episodes to talk about. I don't remember much from watching this as a teenager aside from it being just so over the top with creating drama, throwing people out of the store and the like. Hard core pawn was wild I think I remember one episode where a dude goes nuts cause the old man on the show wouldn’t buy his blu ray player and like assaults an employee and the old dude comes out with a baseball bat
God damnit man I double dare you to write the script for the mob boss witness protection pawnshop owner who reluctantly ends up on a history channel reality show about said pawn shop who's accent keeps slipping because of the stress of being outed hence outing himself.
I am baffled how this is the first episode of this show; they should have focused on pawned things specific to Lousiana and/or Cajun history for the whole first episode at the very least if they wanted to have any chance for a good first showing out of the gate. 😅
They wanted funny accents, not actual local color. You can tell because they didn't even bother to set the show in a pawn shop that was actually in Cajun Country. Alexandria is too far north to qualify.

I live in the same city (Alexandria, LA) where they filmed Cajun Pawn Stars. Can confirm they are very closed, and have been for more than 10 years. I pass by that place all the time.
Chris, do you remember that one Auction house show? It could have been on Discovery but it sure felt like a History show. Oh! Auction Kings! I think you’d get a kick out of it, like American Pickers but with the cheese of Pawn Stars.

You need to watch "The Mole" - that is a crazy show.
I've watched an episode where they bought Jerry Lee Lewis's hair. and they buy famous people's hair all the time

Imagine that 😂
Sad truths
I kinda liked that dumb show
Specially when they had a northern guy
And recreated the civil war.
Funny shet.
According to Wikipedia Jimmie DeRamus died of cancer July 13 2023.
Never in the shop? Then where was it?
Apparently the store would not cooperate with Alexandria PD for alleged stolen property and was forced to shut down
Okay. Dude brought in alien. Got offered $15 for it. He wanted $100. He agreed to $10. That dude is awful at negotiating.
Imagine on the way home, he realized what he did.

Exactly, being on edge.

Think how much worse the dude's gonna feel when he can't redeem that pawn in 3 months and ends up selling those bills for $20k instead of $575k.
Right, if he can't pay his employees how does he think he'll pay the loan?

I hope John RUclips always pays you on time, you make entertaining content.
If your a cat with a long tail in a room full of rocking chairs you would have to be careful not to have your tail squished
I remember this from when it aired and thought it was somewhat an improvement over regular pawn stars because they didn't have to bring in an "expert" every time.
Then they did as well and never saw this again until this review. Thanks!
I live in the same city (Alexandria, LA) where they filmed Cajun Pawn Stars. Can confirm they are very closed, and have been for more than 10 years. I pass by that place all the time.
Cajun pawn Stars was only canceled because Rick didn't like them using that name
YOUR SHIRT!!! I love it so much!! Chappell Roan fan ❤❤❤
It's funny how Chris identified a guy from the mob in whittness protection and then makes fun of the other mobster called Johnnie clearly ex mob.
It'll get good. Wait til they finally show all people coming in trying to sell family members and treasured confederate memorabilia 😂
Ive been waiting the 4 hours since this dropped to have a beer and watch it! Yes!
Chris, do you remember that one Auction house show? It could have been on Discovery but it sure felt like a History show.
Oh! Auction Kings!
I think you’d get a kick out of it, like American Pickers but with the cheese of Pawn Stars.
I’m so glad I opened RUclips this morning and I see my handsome man posted a new video
