@donnienarco144 there were bands going lower far earlier. Carcass was in B standard in the 80s, Bolt Thrower was in A, same with Human Remains. Probably hundreds more I'm forgetting to list haha
So cool that JT is recrafting these covers from scratch. Id like to see some in studio of the process of start to finish. Im not good on a computer but its facinating to see how you accurately cover these.
Great sound man, i wonder memorized all those riff, without read musical partition, i mean with repetitive music like steve reich or philip Glass the musicians read but in meshuggah nothing , in concert they maybe have the setlist and no more , it s fantastic memory
oh yeah i can see why he asked you to stop recording these. he could get in trouble for playing that on twitch. i remember he said once on one of his streams that he can't legally play either danza or glass cloud songs for some reason
The universe holds on balance- you take something, you give something. He was allowed to compose and play all this music, have endorsements, going on tours, etc, but now he is limited with all these legal restrictriction, etc. Same story as Rob Arnold from Chimaira told.
You can't get in the same trouble for doing it live streamed, but having it recorded and easily accessible at any time is where you can run into issues if you don't pay rights holders to "reproduce" their music in a fixed tangible medium.
6:04 for the song
Man of culture
0:00 for the stream
Josh Travis playing meshuggah on a Stephen Carpenter model. 8 string heaven
I met Stephen front row at a Meshuggah show at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana CA. back in '03
U mean 7 string
Its crazy that one of the first guys I think of when I think of 8 strings is the guy from Deftones who tuned to drop #C in 97
Thats a 7

I can't imagine being told that you can't play a song on guitar. Nuts.
