That fuel manifold is the most beautiful piece of pipe work I've ever seen.
Lol...as a motor head that manifold impressed me more than the finest piece of furniture or artwork. In my mind thats the shit that deserves to be in museums.
Anyone who has worked in an engine room can appreciate the work it takes to keep that space looking so pristine. BTW, those are sharpest dressed engineers I have ever seen. Good video and tour, thanks SYC
Just when you think you have seen it all, there is always someone with a bigger yacht. What is very impressive is how much knowledge the chief engineer Steve has at his finger tips, there can't be too many professions where the man in charge knows every detail of every item under his control, such a clean engine room, not a drop of oil anywhere and no dirty hands.
Nuclear reactor Operators have to know every bit of the plant. Every pipe, pump, motor, switch, control unit, etc. I am sure that regular fossil fuel power plant operators must be the same.
Here's a theory, captain's 'on leave', we've now been introduced to the 1st Officer and engine room crew. Are you showing us your new crew?
and the bullet was working in engineering, hmmmm.....
@@edwardcoyne9970 the bullet? If my theory's correct I think we'll be seeing the galley next
From a 37m to an 85m... not very likely, much as I think Tristan is a great captain.
That would be a huge jump, would think to jump in size so much he would have to do some first officer time.
1st officer could easily be taking over as captain allowing him to come on as 1st or 2nd officer
Excellent tour. I do have a few questions for you Tristen on a side issue my friend. You should email me someday soon.
Tristan, I know you don't response to a lot of questions, which is fair enough, but do you have another vessel that you will be skippering soon. Will you be going back skippering AWOL when and if it goes back to the med or is your time on AWOL is finished, sorry for being nosey.
Coming from a maintenance trade back ground it may be great to have it all polished but the best reason for it being so clean is to just be able to see the slightest signs of a fluid leak and act quickly to find out why the leak is showing. What a credit to the onboard engineers.
You can see that they are really proud on their engine room. Nice clean, shiny and tidy.
Hi Tristan, I thought when you left AWOL that the channel might die a little. But the latest few videos have been great - some of the most enjoyable I've seen from you. You have benefited from playing in a field beyond the gunwales of AWOL. Many thanks.
I hope you have already found your next " canoe " and just keep us in suspense 👍👍👍awesome video as always
Often, when we see stuff about Super yachts a lot comments arise about rich people and how outrageous "toys" like these are.
I see it differently (as a relatively poor guy).
What I see is an investment, that have fed a lot of families during the build, but also during operation.
100%
Bullseye!
Can I just add that the rich guy possibly also runs a business that also feeds a lot of families. I don't begrudge them their toys.
Also when yacht owners decide to open their vessels and lend their crews to chartering, they are giving an opportunity to others to enjoy the world of yachting for that dream vacation that many families could never afford otherwise.
@@chrisrowland2223 well I guess it is still only for the upper upper class to be chartering yachts of this size, if we are being real :-)
13:00 Nice to see such a substantial power filtering system. Not only will this greatly extend the life of everything plugged in, from nav systems to light bulbs, but it also eliminates the largest cause of failure on critical equipment. As a side note, they are also better for the environment because they eliminate appliances wasting power from sustained over-voltage, power-factor, spikes, heat and emf radiation.
That’s an impressive workspace. Beautifully engineered and spacious
Everytime you release a new video, I get a smile on my face.
Been in few large vessels enginerooms, and they tend to be pretty clean and tidy. Tugs tend to be spotless. I saw the main engine aboard MSC Oliver a few years ago, 195,000grt, and that was glistening . . . 85,000hp driving her at max 25 knots . . .
yeah unless you keep it clean you wont be able to spot a leak till its really big.
Amazing, I dread to think how much it costs to run Bold yearly, several million I’ve no doubt. But it’s an investment and something to have fun with as you only live once, even if your rich.
Knowing absolutely nothing about boat engineering, all I can say is its very clean and shiny and I'd like to try a coffee from that machine. I wonder what esysman thinks of it though.
You see this engine room tour & you can start to appreciate why these superyachts cost a lot of money. The fuel transfer system was a work of art.
Wow! Thanks Tristan and to the Chief Engineer. A fantastic engine room which looks absolutely brand new. A credit to the crew. Thank you very much. regards from Wales
Captain Tristan, you always post an interesting video... Thanks for the tour of the engine room on board superyacht Bold.
Impressive engineering space. Of course you would expect something like this on a boat this large and valuable.
The fact of the matter is, a clean working environment actually makes your life better. It's a lot easier to spot a leak on a pristine engine than on one coated with oil and crap. It's also less dangerous. Cleanliness is vital to doing good work and living to tell about it.
Very awesome to see! I’m a Second Engineer on a 50m and I’m working towards getting on a yacht of that size. Such a clean environment and a very good tour
Wow. That engine room is bigger than the first floor of my house. Cleaner too. 🤣👍
500 Liters per hour for Leisure, and im collecting scraps of plastics to save some of the environment, while these boats run 500 litres of diesel each hour for fun.. nice
Try back aft on a nuke sub.
This is now the 3rd time I watch this tour, as it's a great one (many thanks to you and the engineer). But, each time, at 04:43, I'm tremendously bothered by the fact that they use an old Australian flag as a rag on the floor. That's incredibly disrespectful! I know flags tatter quickly, but any flag when it's past it's prime must be disposed of in a proper and respectful manner, NOT used as a rag.
Interesting , Thank You . A fine example of an engine room truly worth millions of dollars , good to see the work shop .
Sweet engine room! That fuel distributor was epic!
is your boss buying bold?? or are you currently homeless? the channel needs to know
The engineering and scope of systems and integration is amazing. Love your videos. They show your love for all things yachting
Can we please see the Bridge next and all its tech goodies!! 😁
And oh, thanks for this tour Tristan. I liked this yatch for its modern interiors and definitely "Bold" external styling! 💯
Bridge tour was included in the previous video 😎👍
Thank you so much for this awesome video. I was dying to see inside and you delivered. This channel is awesome!
As a power generator field engineer, I spent plenty of time in mechanical and engine spaces on cruise ships, ice breakers, and oil rigs. The chief engineer takes tremendous pride in his work and the equipment under his charge. The yachts owner is extremely lucky to have such a capable and caring engineer.
It's not a yacht it's a warship 🤣
So what are you gonna do now that you are not the awol captain?
Darn, I wish my kitchen was as tidy as this - not often an engine room brings me shame.
Perhaps you ought to do a run through of catering on board with the stewardesses (sultry or what).
Mirip Pak Anis Baswedan ..Mentri pendidikan .......untuk apa mereka merekayasa Vidio Yacht ikut ikut.....??!untuk apa......??
Just incredible to see a working luxury yacht engine room. Thanks for the tour Steve. Everything looks so spotless and uber organized.
Good ol kiwi tang there from Steve. Knew his stuff for all the equipment as we;l. A lot to control and keep across. Great tour
That was absolutely fantastic to see that side of a super yacht! You feel it must be very complicated! But then! You see this engine bay and it is mind blowing! I have a question please? How long does it take to get to know any engine bay? Or are the all sort of similar layouts?
550 liter per hour crossing Atlantic "quite reasonable" 🤣👍
Now this is what I’ve signed up to see! Engineering!
You can always trust a kiwi/Aussie (Kwassie?) to deploy primo vernacular “pumping the goodies” when referring to sewage/grey water. So many systems integrated and tucked away thanks
Amazing bit of plumbing. so clean everywhere.
Flipping eck.
Its clinical down there.

If the engineering spaces of Yacht Express were a cathedral, Bold is a high temple of modern engineering. Thank you all for another excellent look at the driving force behind the super yacht industry, the marine engineering.
Just fill her up mate ⛽️⛽️⛽️⛽️⛽️ I'll be paying cash 💰💰💰💰
Is this your new ship? Be nice to know what it's all about. Nice engine room but what's this all about.
Love love
SpaceX charges only $50 million per launch. Heck, only two of those and you can buy this ship.
He says 3 metres cubed where I would say 3 cubic metres. I wonder if that's an engineer thing or just a personal thing.
If I had the money to own one of those, I would spend most of my time with the maintenance crew, this is just AWESOME.
6:44 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍 anyway, being an engineer myself: Nice one this video!
I worked in the aft engine room aboard a US naval vessel in the 60s. It did not look anything like this! Lol Noisy and dirty and hot as a sauna.
How long are you planning to stay in Florida Tristan?
Sooo much stainless steel!! sooo shiny!! 👀👍👌
"Very nice condition" the understatement of the year
The pipe fitters are amazing. Imagine the talent in that maniflold.
That's very cool... You can eat in there... ;)
Unbelievable, incredible 😀👍🏻
have i missed a tour of crew quarters and the cabin on the chaseboat where we were told Harry lived on board
Hi why are you not on AWOL anymore? What are you going to do in the future?
That engine room is a work of art.
Is this your new boat captain?????
Beautiful..looking spotless…!
OUTSTANDING Content.!! Always exciting and so informative. Thank you for sharing !!
What engines you have?
Can we please see the galley?
Next weeks video 😎👍
@@SuperYachtCaptain is this your new home/job?
A Scotty from down under :-)
Maybe I missed it or it wasn't mentioned, but do they use Marine Gas Oil (MGO) or Low-Very Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) or just plain diesel? I'm guessing diesel or MGO since it is pretty much the standard in Florida, Bahamas and the Caribbean. Not many places have VLSFO available.
Wow….very interesting !
THAT, is the CLEANEST Engine Room I have ever seen, and , at 70ys old, I have seen a couple!! Doc Mike USN 70-74
Absolutely beautiful gentlemen, truly a testimony to quality crew and engineering of the utmost highest standards. No room for mistakes are overlooked errors of any kind, the slightest indication of something amiss is instantly recognizable in such a beautiful well taken care of control room & engine compartment...
Who built the ship?
Wait... that accent... is he a Kiwi?
Captain I looked up Silveryachts and building out of Australia is Engineer Steve part of a manufacturers extended shakedown cruise.
Are you working on Bold now?
This is your new Drive
Now that AWOL has Passed in to a new life..Where or Who will you be commanding?
This guy Interesting Looking forward to your next video 'Thanks for sharing Yf...
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha . .
Very interesting! Great to see that they keep the inverter / UPS on line all the time as it is a great way of enduring clean power to all the on board electronics! I'd be interested to know the voltage and capacity of the on board battery banks! 🙂 I'm guessing 24V DC and probably around 10kWh?
That was a sweet viewing of an engine room well done
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how much these yachts cost to run. 500 liters an hour at 14/15 mph equals 132 gallons of fuel to go 14 miles! In todays gas prices, that's about $450.00 to travel 14 miles! Wow, it's mind boggling to me. To put it in perspective, a transatlantic crossing will cost right around $100,000 dollars, and take 8 days assuming your running 24/7. I guess if you can afford these multi million dollar yachts it's pocket change, but man, that is some self indulgence I am not sure I could deal with even if I had the money! She is a huge boat at 85m or 280' and is an explorer yacht so I get the costs involved, but wow! FYI, Bold cost about $100 million to build, she charters for $875,000 a week not including anything but the yacht, and I think, the captain, and maybe the crew? Wowser again! 😁👍✌
Taking over a Captains position on a boat like this would/could weeks of study to be ready to assume the responsibility, but this is just a observation.......
Is Superyacht Bold the replacement for AWOL?
Excellent video! This fella really knows his stuff. And a great way of explaining things to non-engineers. Fascinating!
Great tour of a fantastic mechanical space on Bold. It isn't mentioned but is the cooling system 100 percent fresh water or I assume there an additive like in a vehicle cooling system?
Thank you Tristan and Steve. Very interesting!!! I like these type of videos!
It’s not a Luerssen
MV Bold is a very impressive build with performance to spare and it's military style silhouette would certainly give anyone with bad intentions pause before approaching.
Only in Hollywood do you find dirty engineering spaces, lovely and clean there.
Now that AWOL has changed hands are you no longer a boat driver and what are your next steps?
That was very informative, you could eat of that engine room floor,
Great video, it let us know about the functionality of various components not just what they are. Thanks
I remember that motor yacht AWOL had a super clean engine room as well.
Very close to an ideal engine room. Nice! Great video, Tristan. Thanks
Barnacle buster!!! Nice flush very friendly to the sea!
Now that's a lovely shiny pair of MTU's.
