- If you've ever been curious about what it's like being a childless cat lady living alone in a big city like NYC, look no further. This is my life, continuing on from my last vlog. I have two adorable cats (I'm biased) Gordo & Deli that bring so much light to my life. And contrary to the title and thumbnail, this video does not revolve completely around cats or pondering about why I am still single etc. I, like most other proud cat ladies, are busy thinking about other things. This video is in no way trying to shame those who do have kids and are married - I love that for ya!!! 💓

The rent news is fabulous! Actually maybe a little under the current market. Plus allows pets and a washer, very difficult to find something like that above ground. Madam your children have grown so much!! But they are unruly! Omg they are so cute leaping around, and into everything. Have a great week!

I have a rule in the morning if I am going out I hug mine while in my pj's and no hugging after I am changed to go out. Works well for me not so well for my coats however but you live with it.

Hey girl! Check if your apartment unit was registered with the city for rent stabilization like the other units you mentioned. You can do this online, request the rental history. If they charged you market rate rent this past year when the unit was actually stabilized, you may be able to get reimbursed, check it out in case! People in my building have done it and won

I think life is just messy, and it’s especially messy for those of us who are forging our own paths. I’m in my 50s and childless, never married (no pets at the moment, but I still fall into the category, clearly!) and I’m constantly trying to figure out what the rules of my own life are-society isn’t set up to acknowledge the existence of women like me, and I’m aware of the fact that I’ve bypassed many of the assumed expectations for what a “normal” adult life looks like. I don’t think there’s ever one moment where everything falls into place. Instead it’s a series of smaller moments of discovery and growth combined with new challenges (and old ones resurfacing). All any of us can do is just keep going, one day at a time.
Just wanted to say hi as a 42 year old woman, no relationships and don’t want them, no kids and won’t want them, love life and my friends and my hobbies, and I’m lucky to have friends just like me too. You sound awesome and I hope you continue to grow and have fun too :D

I’m not opposed entirely to a relationship but over time I’ve realized that the push to be in a relationship has only made me miserable and that I’m my best self when I’m single. Letting go of the search has been a form of liberation (and has allowed me to see all of the great things in my life!)
Oh gosh I can imagine that would be so true. Seeing all the lovely moments in life is something worth working for, I’m always trying to work on living in the moment for lots of reasons that help me too, I’m not the best at it but I’m bound to keep getting better over time! Seeing and loving the small marvellous things really feels like how to find the best in life.

You had me at childless cat lady! I am a "childful" cat lady - 4 grown children (and a dog too!) - but I'm united with the cat ladies! Oh Lord the question about what would my life look like as a movie!!! Mine is my artwork. Making money doing something I love - we used to tell my Mom to "Make money selling your artwork"!!! She didn't listen and here I am - at 66, doing the same thing! And yes, I am the person who wanted to be a Mom and have many kids! - My four grown kids are my rock - heart and soul. I support people who don't want to have children also - I admire women who go after their dream and achieve them! Oh how I rambled here - Thank you for listening! LOL!

Another child-full cat lady here, love that term! I have 3 grown kids (but 2 have come back to live with me, oh well!). It's not too late to start doing what you dream of and love doing!. I'm soon to be 60, and that's what I'm telling myself, and I know so many great creatives didn't get started until late in life. Forge on!

Childless Cat Lady here, living alone also. Which is both good and not good, as you demonstrate. Love the ocean footage at the end of this Vlog. Gordo and Delia are living up to my description of kittens as small four legged terrorists (mine are 18 and 10, still rule my universe.)
About your rent increase…yes, some increases are insane. Basically my rent has increased by about 50% in four years. Fixed income means that’s a huge problem. However, in this area of the Mid-Atlantic states, deposits have more than tripled, and monthly rent is actually equal to or more than my current rent. On the other hand, I love this apartment, the maintenance people are great, I get natural light for most of the day, and I’m about 10 minutes from everything I need. There’s always trade offs.

that way of viewing your own life is exactly what i needed to hear. I often feel like I don’t know myself and feel like I’m drifting. School is easy, friends are there, family is there. What does a drifting character need? I don’t know but I’m gonna find out. Also the cats are so cute!

I am also a Childless cat lady( in my 50's ) lol, I also wanted to recommend litter box liners..so much easier! Or u can use a kitchen trash bag in a pinch. Like always love ur vlogs. Cant wait to see how ur project turns out. Love u ❤️🥰
Gordo on his back is nothing better to see as it shows a cat that feels safe and secure. It always brings a smile to my face to see when cats do this!
As a fellow New Yorker, you can look up whether your unit is meant to be rent stabilized, seems like something fishy might have been going on - make sure they aren’t over-charging you! It is normal for only certain units to be rent-stabilized in buildings and not necessarily the whole building though.

I have two rescue dogs and my friends like to say dogs were so lucky to end up with me. Girl, I’m the lucky one here lol I would be all over the place without them
oh my goodness. Deli being so clingy and needy is the best thing I have ever seen in my entire life.

I'm an almost 40 y/o guy, single, no cats but I'm considering getting a dog. I'm not opposed to a relationship, or even children, but I rather like my life and I don't need someone else to make me feel complete. If someone comes along that's special enough for me to change my life for, great. If not, also great! I have wonderful family and friends, and I'm perfectly happy to continue on the same path because I'm happy! No one should live their life based on what they're "supposed" to do, just do what makes you happy and keep it moving!

Everything you say always makes me think. Like trying to view our lives from an objective point of view, like if our lives were playing out in a movie gave me pause. I have never thought about it that way and I too feel stuck in my current state of being. You’ve inspired me once again to try and think about things from that viewpoint. 2 favorite parts of the video: you talking & the cats are attacking each other on the bed being themselves 😂 The ⛱️ looked so peaceful & not crowded, love how you were reflecting on life & being thankful. I need to start writing down 4 things im thankful for everyday it helps keep you grounded.

I saw RawBeautyKristi once say that she figured most people never reached their end goals during their lives, that she thought you should set goals to reach for and it was ok not to get there as long as you felt you were going somewhere. I got sad for her. Im 45 and I feel I have reached my goals. I got to where I want to be in life and I have the whole second part of my life to enjoy it and do "side quests". My kid is grown up, living on their own. I got my masters and I have a job I love. Im living in a house that suits me and my wonderful husband, in an area we love, close to my family and workplace. Im happy. And from here on, every adventure I choose to go on or challenge thrown at me will be dealt with knowing my base and home is a safe place and I have a great support system if I fall and need help getting back on track. It feels great. I hope you all reach your goals and get to just enjoy life as well. ❤
Important info here: Maple sirup cookies had been invented in Province of Quebec. So, if you like the saver, YOU HAVE TO TASTE the Quebec versions. My choice of brand would be Christie, but Leclerc and Dare are good options too. If a friend of yours comes in Canada, especially in Quebec, ask him/her to bring you back a pack of those cookies. Available in any supermarket. You gonna fall for them. 🍪🍪🍪
Cat hack, try clipping their claws when they are sleeping! Also, keep the amazon boxes and especially the brown paper, unroll it and leave it over the boxes and the cats will play for hours!

Also, I have so much peace in my place, single, just me and my dog. I love my job. I love my routine, hobbies etc and I’m not interested in anything other than someone adding to my life. No room for subtractions .

Love seeing Gordo & Deli jumping in the boxes. Unsolicited Childless Cat Mom Tip. I have a couple dollar store area rugs under the litterbox. I have hardwood floors too. So a 4x6 & then 2 "doormat" size rugs on top in front of each litterbox. Covered letterboxes hide the smells better too. And I use Arm & Hammer litterbox baking soda deodorizer stuff to minimize smellies too. Okay back tot he video... Re: Nail clipping. Grab them from behind and pull them into your lap. Hold them down w your torso and push each lil toe bean to get the nail to stick out. I keep saying "LET MOMMY DO IT". Then they get salmon (the lil pouch stuff) after as a reward. They still fight me a bit w this tho.
I'm so glad you get to stay in your apartment! That will give you even more time to make it even cuter. Love the kitty content, but don't even try to be like Handler. She used to be funny but then seemed to get bitter & crass. You are way more fun to watch than she ever could be, and your tribe of friends are also very good people who give out fun, positive content. I'm looking forward to seeing what advent calendar you're doing this year.
Congrats on the small rent increase. If I calculated correctly only 3%. I've rented for years in expensive metro areas and seems 7% is pretty standard, but in recent years significantly more. I always dread renewal time. I had a similar scenario once that the lease ended, didn't hear anything from management and like you just kept paying old rate and hoping for the best, then 2 months later they raised the rent 15% with no lease leaving themselves room for additional increases. Thank you for sharing! I'm so happy for you and delighted to know there are decent landlords after all.

Those kittens are so happy ! Great Job, Mamma! I always just get my cat’s claws trimmed @ the vet. Or my daughter does it for me when she’s here … was a veterinary asst for 5 years in her 20s, AND has a cat, of COURSE ! My cat is 6 tho and not as rambunctious, so doesn’t need a trim as often. Congrats on another year @ your amaazing apt ! Liz

As someone who became an unwilling minimalist because of my cats…. It’s worth it. Also… BIG BIG BIG advice….. Hide your hair bands or anything small like a hair band….. One of mine found one I’m guessing fell out of my hair (I never leave them out) and well…. Emergency vet hospital visit and many thousands later…. He is a very happy boy who abhors the vet. 😅 (He was fine but my wallet took a beating). Just FYI. And mine wasn’t a small hair tie. I would NEVER have thought that they could have swallowed something that size. Turns out…. They can!
