Shoutout Pops for scoping the car. 1987 Buick Grand National GNX, only year they were made. (Same year Kendrick was born). They out-performed Ferrari’s on the track. Some other similarities to Kendrick are that it went 0-60 in under five seconds, and was a very limited edition. Also, only came in black. 💪
The wisdom your dad has. His view and take on this journey is something to take in and celebrate. Josh. I love the way your emotional intelligence keeps growing. You duo are something to celebrate. Love from Kenya!
I instantly subscribed for Pops. The way he picked upbon the Rakim sample instantly 👏🏾👏🏾. I'm an old head like Pops as an 80s baby. I have loved K Dot since he came out he gives me the vibe 90s rappers in a lot of ways.
POPS HIT IT!! REINCARNATED.. TUPAC… RICK JAMES…BILLIE HOLIDAY (brown sugar is her’ron) …JIMI HENDRIX was drug free until he met the record labels secretary.. then he’s Himself, talking to God AS LUCIFER.. (he was the Angel of music)
Rick James was too young to be put out in 1947 and j don’t think he was even born yet and it says in Michigan, so no that wouldn’t be Rick James he was talking about.. but definitely Billie Holiday
@ That’s what I get for not doing research.. Rick James was BORN the same year, just in New York.. the last two plus Kendrick/Lucifer I caught immediately .. my next guess was gona be Otis Redding😩😩😩 so THANK U for saving me because it was gona drive me crazy until I figured it out😅
I can't believe I'm watching a reaction video for the 7th-ish time in a day and a half. Got our house clean and sparkling with this album. I would love to go on a Kendrick deep dive with Josh and Pops as a new fan!!
I love the dads reaction to reincarnated...that track spoke to me. 20 yr old me would not of not understand that track...40 yr old me today was blown away
26 year old me understood that track & it spoke to me heavy. That's why it's my fav on the album. I adore how Kendrick always references God. Those who don't have a veil over them know exactly what he be talking about & I hope more people awake to that truth
The king of “don’t pause it so much” was sure doing a lot of pausing 😂 but for real, watching your dad enjoy the f***out of this album was so much fun!
Pops, I grew up listening to 8-tracks and cassettes, and I also enjoyed listening to music on 33 RPM vinyl records and the radio. I agree with your comment about being happy for the success of fellow artists. There's an old saying: "Your turn today, my turn tomorrow!"
On the first track when Kendrick said, “slide on both of them,” he was referring to the two Black podcasters, James and Fuhad, who laughed along with the “white comedian” (Andrew Schulz) on his podcast after he made that joke about Black women. This happened fairly recently, just like the other events he’s referencing, which makes it clear he wrote this recently.
Witnessing Tupac i can say he is definitely a child of his teachings think pac said he wasn't the one but he would spark the brain that would be the one 30 years later kendrick has me convinced pac was prophetic
Loved this video. As someone not from the US, the insights pops gave on the history and the meaning of some of the songs was very valuable and added a lot.
Kind of…. Kanye revealing “Wendy” was actually Chicago at the end of Homecoming. Common revealing Her was actually Hip Hop in Her Love. Recommend both if you’ve yet to hear them!
Your dad is awesome. Tell him he is exactly right! A reaction is a reaction and his has just as much value. And what an awesome first Kendrick album for him to cover
I'm here for pops input he has a completely different experience because he notices alot of random things about the songs and references that most younger folks dont get. I've learned of alot of songs from him pointing out samples. Keep up the good work and hope you enjoy your new house! Make sure to stock up on them pop sickles for '25! Also check out the other Hearts!!!!! Kendrick drops a heart (since the 3rd) before he drops a studio album (Drake titled his last diss The Heart Part 6 trying to take it away from Kendrick, Kendrick chose to not let that stand) ALSO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REACT TO MR. MORALE AND THE BIG STEPPERS. Kendricks best album imo
Awwww! I really enjoyed how excited and engaged Pops was with this album. Y’all should def listen to To Pimp A Butterfly, I think he would like it. Also, the Hearts 1-5. The sample on Part 5 will blow his mind.
RE: REINCARNATED: My interpretation is that in the last verse, "Kendrick" understands why his Father has kicked him out (in this life, but also call back to the past lives, but also setting up the bigger scene: God kicking Lucifer out of Heaven. For those not familiar with the Old Testament, the story is that God kicked Lucifer out of Heaven). He "Kendrick"/aka this incarnation now understands and "forgives" IE grows from the pride. The back and forth is really between Lucifer and God, but also works on the Kendrick level. God explains to Lucifer that he kicked him out due to his anxiety and disobedience ("You didn't like authority, only searched to be heinous"), but acknowledges that Lucifer was God's best director "You were my best director... it was colors, reds... blues..." (the Bible references Lucifer as the angel of music). God tells Lucifer he sent him to earth for "rehabilitation" but he's just been poisoning others- "but here we are now, for centuries you manipulated man with music" Lucifer has been using his talent for evil, in each of his manifestations (lives as talented Black musicians in Verse 1, 2, 3). Lucifer - a confused son, has reincarnated through these different lives, exploiting his gift, living selfishly and without discipline. So this is where we understand the story is truly about the fallen angel Lucifer, and his manifestations throughout time. And Lucifer, seeking his Father's love and approval, has only ever wanted to be accepted. But in this lifetime, Kendrick has broken the curse. The verse ends with Kendrick/Lucifer maturing. And it's a similar ending to Mother I Sober, in that Kendrick now vows to use his powers for good. By 'rewriting' this story, and learning the lesson in this incarnation, Kendrick broke Lucifer's generational curse (as he mentioned in the last album), he weakens "evil"; he's now channeling his talent (even in destruction) for salvation. But he's going so deep to acknowledge that the devil is within himself. It's not out there in the world, as we are all taught as kids. And it isn't his denial of this, it's his acceptance and embrace of his nature that earns his place back in Heaven. It's really bone-chilling.
I loved POPS reactions. I'm from his generation and the references he shared were on point! I also appreciate his humility in the review. I too am on my KDOT journey (thanks to this summer's battle). And, yes, one must be a student of life to fully appreciate Kendrick's body of work.

Josh you be tripping sometimes bro your pops is right in Rating every song ❤😂
Wow, I didn't know that was his Pops, I was about to ask, are they brothers!!
😂😂😂😂😂@@WarderidPowell
POPS HIT IT!! REINCARNATED.. TUPAC… RICK JAMES…BILLIE HOLIDAY (brown sugar is her’ron) …JIMI HENDRIX was drug free until he met the record labels secretary.. then he’s Himself, talking to God AS LUCIFER.. (he was the Angel of music)
Rick James was too young to be put out in 1947 and j don’t think he was even born yet and it says in Michigan, so no that wouldn’t be Rick James he was talking about.. but definitely Billie Holiday
Jackie Wilson is who he's taking about
I thought it was Jackie Wilson.. And Billie Holiday or Dinah Washington.
@ I thought he was born in 48.. not put out in 48. Good catch!
@ That’s what I get for not doing research.. Rick James was BORN the same year, just in New York.. the last two plus Kendrick/Lucifer I caught immediately .. my next guess was gona be Otis Redding😩😩😩 so THANK U for saving me because it was gona drive me crazy until I figured it out😅
dude i love how your dad breaks down samples its really an underappreciated part of music
This album is an actual masterpiece, the concept, the engineering, the delivery, the art and talent itself showcased throughout it
I can't believe I'm watching a reaction video for the 7th-ish time in a day and a half.
Those who don't have a veil over them know exactly what he be talking about & I hope more people awake to that truth
word 35. i wouldnt have got it at 20
The king of “don’t pause it so much” was sure doing a lot of pausing 😂 but for real, watching your dad enjoy the f***out of this album was so much fun!
Fuck*
The Notebook being his pen’s favorite movie on “Gloria” is so clever. Pen and notebook 😉
Pops, I grew up listening to 8-tracks and cassettes, and I also enjoyed listening to music on 33 RPM vinyl records and the radio. I agree with your comment about being happy for the success of fellow artists. There's an old saying: "Your turn today, my turn tomorrow!"
The fact Pops catching beats origins prior to fully listening the songs is commendable. Salute...
Pops gotta listen to Good Kidd, mAAd City, album is basicaly Kendrick life story as an audio-movie.
Agree !
Damn is too… I love the story how he got connected to top dawg
@@alyssacunningham4670 “Whoever thought the greatest rapper would be from coincidence?”
@@TillsRojas7 yassss 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
@@alyssacunningham4670 I hope pops gets to listen to this album because I know he’s going to be absolutely blown away! Lol
Producer of the GNx track said he sent Kendrick the beat on 20th, so I'm willing to bet most of the album is recent.
Well damn this has no skips at all Kendrick really the greatest he is our 2pac
Chromakopia has no skips either ❤🔥 making Cali proud
@@annawalker5115man this year has been crazy for hip hop
Reincarnated
J cole finna drop the fall off next 😮
Witnessing Tupac i can say he is definitely a child of his teachings think pac said he wasn't the one but he would spark the brain that would be the one 30 years later kendrick has me convinced pac was prophetic
Loved this video. As someone not from the US, the insights pops gave on the history and the meaning of some of the songs was very valuable and added a lot.
I’m like 6 min in and this is my favorite reaction yet. Y’all are awesome
Shout out to your Pops! He makes sooooo many good points! It should be more uplifting and support.
Pops in needed for that matured perspective, I love it.
Would love for Pops to react to some of Kendrick's older stuff, since he wants to see more!
Pops picking up on the Rakim sample 🤯 haven't seen anyone pick up on that. Props to Pops!
Pops! I’m here with you on your KDot journey!
Have we ever had an artist who rapped/sung about their pen like that? Like he’s battling with his pen! That was so cold and brilliant. Gloria.
Me and my b*tch by 2pac not pen but same thing 🔥
Kind of…. Kanye revealing “Wendy” was actually Chicago at the end of Homecoming. Common revealing Her was actually Hip Hop in Her Love. Recommend both if you’ve yet to hear them!
@@rebekita324 yep. It immediately reminded me of love of my life by Erykah and Common. Ode to Hip Hop. ❤❤❤
Ur pops a genius bro entire reaction was good cause his insights
And Pops was right - it WAS Billie Holiday he was singing about in "Reincarnation"!
“Luther something-drawls” is wild!
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
I thought I was the only that caught that. 😂
🤭😂
Bruh is clueless
Your dad is awesome. Tell him he is exactly right! A reaction is a reaction and his has just as much value. And what an awesome first Kendrick album for him to cover
I'm here for pops input he has a completely different experience because he notices alot of random things about the songs and references that most younger folks dont get. I've learned of alot of songs from him pointing out samples. If I just wanted to listen to the album I would but I come here for insight and opinions, Ya'll are easily my favorite react channel to come out of this year of Kendrick. Keep up the good work and hope you enjoy your new house! Make sure to stock up on them pop sickles for '25!
Also check out the other Hearts!!!!! Kendrick drops a heart (since the 3rd) before he drops a studio album (Drake titled his last diss The Heart Part 6 trying to take it away from Kendrick, Kendrick chose to not let that stand)
ALSO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REACT TO MR. MORALE AND THE BIG STEPPERS. Kendricks best album imo
I have a feeling Dad is gonna love this album for the samples
Kendrick Lamar's entire new album is fire!!!!!! Every song is a 10. 🔥💯
Facts 🔥🔥🔥🔥
YESSSSSSSSS
Gnx gotta grow on me but everything else breaks the scale
We can see that the Drake fans have their feelings hurt again. 🤣🤣🤣
60/40 bad/good for me - mid album in my opinion
Loved, loved, the background gradually going dark, and the lights of the cars moving along the freeway. It was such a cool vibe!!❤❤❤❤❤
OML dude your father is so ridiculously intelligent and has insane song association capabilities
Pops is noticing the heartbeats in the beat when he speaks on his uncle he will like sing about me , goood kid maad city
Pops is an encyclopedia. It’s just how we came up having to learn.
Awwww! I really enjoyed how excited and engaged Pops was with this album. Y’all should def listen to To Pimp A Butterfly, I think he would like it.
Also, the Hearts 1-5. The sample on Part 5 will blow his mind.
They already reacted to the Heart part 5 when it was released
“I see you boy” words every black man aspire to hear lmao
idgaf what anyone say, that "Beem bop bop boom boom bam" bit is fuckin bars. We just don't understand.
He's on a higher plane of consciousness tbh
If you’ve ever thrown hands, you know what that means 👌🏼 lol
GOT DAWG!! ..Pops be sending me! I love it!❤ 😂😂😂
I'm probably close to your dad's age. I definitely understand his 10 giving because it has the good back in the day rap feeling😊
Amazing explanation thanks for taking the time
Omg crazy, thanks for the comment
Bless up for the comment🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 learnt a lot
This an excellent elaboration 🙌🏾
This was something I felt was the essence as well, but now that you put it so eloquently into words it makes even more sense.
I loved POPS reactions. I'm from his generation and the references he shared were on point! I also appreciate his humility in the review. I too am on my KDOT journey (thanks to this summer's battle). And, yes, one must be a student of life to fully appreciate Kendrick's body of work.
This is my fav reaction from pops. I love seeing how much he loves the samples and it unlocks memories for him.
I really hope you and pops get to go to this concert
This 55 year old has been lovin Kendrick for a loooonnngggg time!!! This album is fire!!!! Loved Anita Baker!!! Chapter 8. 🙂Snoop apologized. I was waiting on pops to hear Luther lol
Yes Rakim Guess Who’s Back, pops got that quick!!!😂🔥
Thank you!!! This sample been on the top of my tongue since Friday!!

He about the only one of these reactors that picked up on that
@@vega21 they likely wouldn't have, thats a little before most of their time, my pops used to bump The 18th Letter religiously when I was kid so it kinda caught me off guard in a good way

Pops on here dropping gems...that brother is SHARP...dont nothing get past him
I’m here for Pops because I have a Pops and I appreciate everything about this review. It speaks to my old soul 🥹 much love!! Keep up the great videos

“I Deserve It All” is giving “One Mic” vibes
Nas already reposted it
Sampled it I think 🔥
That, and the intro sounds exactly like Phil Collins' "I can feel it coming in the air tonight". It is like a mashup of the two songs. 2pac has a song with Phil Collins, "Staring at the world through my rearview". One of my favourite songs ever.
Im glad I'm not the only one ..thought I was trippin
@@thacrypt223One Mic I heard is sampled from that
I'm surprised ya pops didn't realize the sample that was used in "Man at the garden" which is "one mic" by nas
Absolutely one of my favorite full album reactions!! Pops is so insightful. You’re both a lot of fun and I love your appreciation for good music. Keep it up!
Pops got knowledge and the sound for the music 💯
Sir you are not in trouble. His writing needs to be peeled back layer by layer. Makes him the Pulitzer winner we know
1987 the year he was born
1987 the year the GNX was released
Think about the symbolism and the duality of him and the car
I need pops reaction to all of Kendrick’s albums or at least a review after he listens and share some of his favs. A back and forth of some of the favs.
I really like josh an this duo is amazing, but these videos are wayyy better when pops sorta takes lead
