LEJOG rickshaw would be too obvious. How about drop him off in a place unknown to him without the GPS, just a map and a bike. Or better yet, time trial but he must build the bike first, while the timers running. We love you Hank honest
Send Hank and Manon to the States-specifically have them train with a Little 500 team at Indiana University last week before their race & cover the race. And then they can shoot up to Detroit and race a Madison at the indoor velodrome Saturday night races.
Send Hank to Hawaii to ride Mauna Kea. Strava segment is " Waikoloa beach to Mauna Kea summit " ( segments/10729084 ) BUT has to try to get a top 10 of the leader board. AND take ANDREW FEATHER...See if he can beat Phil Gaimons KOM.
Something involving a standout older rider? And I mean, 55+. The reason I thought of this is because I was just looking at some of the excellent gear on the GCN website, and I was surprised that the majority of reviews seemed to come from the 55+ demo -- even for things like aero race shorts. I'm sure we'd love to see an older rider beat Hank on a regular bike -- and we can take it if it turns out Hank can beat the very best 55+ riders out there. But then ... can he beat two? :)
Motor neuron is a cruel, cruel disease, it killed my mum a few years ago. This video has inspired me to try my own money raising endurance test for the local ALS charity. I don't have access to a match ball or international rugby players and I'm no more than a purely recreational cyclist, but I can row the shit out of a single scull. I am going to see how far I can go in 24 hours. I will be aiming for between 150 to 200km.
@James Lowsley-Williams Thanks, this means a lot to me. Four months of intense training ahead on top of my regular regime. I truly hope I can help in even just a small way in supporting the search for an effective treatment.
A brilliant video, and great effort from all involved. As a North Eastern rugby player, it was lovely to see some familiar clubs. I can 100% agree with the drafting potential of rugby cyclists! Top work everyone.
As a Scotfish Rugby fan, seeing my love of cycling and GCN merging with this most fantastic of causes has made me very emotional. I just wish the Mad Giraffe was still around to see this. Chapeau Hank and all those Doddie participants
Words cannot describe the emotions this video invoked. Thoroughly enjoyed the video and watched with tears of emotion as flower of Scotland played and to hear the shear amount of support this worthwhile cause had along the route.
great ride and great cause. My dad died of rapid onset MND in 2020 so this means a lot to me. I can't join the ride myself (i'm also disabled and just pootle about on an electric bike) so I'm just glad to see so many people turning out.
This is INDEED the power of sport. Congratulations for being part of this, GCN & James, and thank you for making us part of it through this video. 🏈🚴♂
Great vid. I saw Hank walking out with the ball onto the field for the game and knew there’d be a good one coming up. Oh, and maybe I’m looking at the wrong back wheel, but if 6’7” and 20st of Martin Johnson can ride rim brakes, YOU don’t need hydraulic discs.
that's some miles without sleep on the last part, excellent effort, & for a fantastic charity, im an england rugby fan closely followed by scotland as my 2nd team & will always remember Doddie, as he was larger than life character & will be sadly missed on & off the pitch, his commitment to the charity was incredible & the money raised was phenomenal, great to see a great mixture of people getting involved with the ride.....brilliant👍
Hank! What an amazing video done by an amazing human. This video genuinely brought a tear to my eye as we (my partner Mel and I) just recently lost her mother Cheryl to MND. It is such a horrible disease and watching her go through that was heartbreaking. We too did a charity ride over here in Australia where I rode my fat bike across the Simpson Desert for 5 days with Mel to raise funds for MND South Australia. We managed to raise over 15 thousand dollars towards the cause and couldn't be happier with the result. A massive thanks to you and all the GCN and GMBN crew who I watch religiously whilst churning out the miles on the indoor trainer! Legends :)
Deeply moving. We can but agree that such an altruistic yet relatable purpose adds a whole new dimension to cycling challenges. One in comparison to which our frantic quest for KOMs becomes irrelevant. The powerful brotherhood between Hank & Mark Beaumont never fails to inspire us to do our best in all our own (much smaller) undertakings.
Outstanding work by all those involved. We lost mum (Profile pic with me just 10 months before she died) to MND and god knows i do not want anyone else to go through what she and the family did. We raised £11000 going across England so for this group to do 555 miles is outstanding.
It's good to see the crossover with rugby and cycling. Both determined, full of hormones and wanting to overcome the opponent road or team. Hats off to you all
What a great video - GOOD CALL GCN. Like it a lot. Great to see that cycling can bring so many people together and so genuine. Very thought provoking but still what a ride! Well done, can't wait for the next one. Brilliant.
Just getting into serious cycling now… and I can’t wait to see where it takes me. GCN’s videos definitely played a part earlier on in pushing myself to take advantage of my early years and see where I can take my fitness and passions - cheers and thanks.
it's great to see people riding to benefit those less fortunate and in need of help. the bagpipe is awesome. in college, my roommate was a piper and once a month we'd go walking around campus at night so he could play.
I found this video really emotional. My father passed away due to MND. One of the the women who rode with my local Sunday club. Also passed away due to MND. The video really hit me hard as my father was only 62 when he passed, 18 days before his 63rd birthday. Rita was in her 70's if I remember right. After seeing how my father deteriorated in 6 months I would like to see a world were people don't have to suffer from this.
What an incredible effort for an incredible cause. Well done to everyone who took part, and to GCN and Hank for raising awareness (and no doubt a ton of cash) for the cause. This film is bringing a tear to my eye. Well done ❤
Have been waiting for this video since I saw Hank walk out on match day. A fantastic achievement and as someone who's parents both have neuro muscular diseases, it was wonderful to see. A big thank you to all involved.
Massive respect. I heard you guys had ridden through my neck of the woods (Swansea), but my reaction was “eh, but they are riding to Scotland, they are going the wrong way”😂. Soon realised that Kidwelly was the town you had to hit with the rugby heritage! Awesome job boys bach!
Cracking effort for Doddie Aid 2023 Hank. Think you outdid my total after the full 6 weeks for Team Edinburgh in the first 24hrs! Hope you managed a beer or two at Murrayfield and soaked in the atmosphere that you, Rob, and Doddie helped create that day. Was an outstanding day of rugby! I definitely saw a few GCN & Doddie Aid snood combos both on the channel and out & about during the 6 weeks of fund raising, hopefully even more next year. Onwards to Doddie Aid 2024 and helping find a cure for MND!
So far we’ve seen Hank do a coffee stop with his helmet on, now we also know he has it on while brushing his teeth, kudos to his commitment to safety, but it makes me wonder what else he does with his helmet on… jokes aside, Hank is an incredible human being.
Awesome work Hank, and everyone taking part be it rider, support or supporter. 555 in 2 days, what an effort for such a great cause. Cannot wait to see what the foundation have in store for next year!
Hank’s ability to always bring good vibes, even with all those miles in the legs is quite something. Good lad. A lovely wee vid highlighting a great cause. Thanks GCN.
Great effort by all who took part and those who made it possible. I imagine those lads like Martin J and Rob Wainright have insane power on the flat, just churning out power like a freight train. What an event to be part of. 👏
In the US, in Texas more specifically, I rode on one called MS150. It is also an epic ride, a little shorter, about 160 miles, depending where you start, two day ride with a stop to camp over night. It is done to benefit the MS Society. About 15k people ride. It is a huge event with tons of logistics. I suggest you guys send a crew and do it.
Well done Hank and all riders. MND is cruel and vital money for research. I have had the privilege to help wonderful people who suffered from MND as health professional, as a NHS service. 👏👏👏💕💕
What should we challenge Hank to do next? 🤔
LEJOG rickshaw would be too obvious. How about drop him off in a place unknown to him without the GPS, just a map and a bike. Or better yet, time trial but he must build the bike first, while the timers running. We love you Hank honest

@@jameslowsley-williams4243 always love your energy and positivity hank!!
We are very lucky to have Hank on the team! What would you like to see him take on next? 👀
@@gcn I'd love to see Hank take a blind cyclist on the GCN tandem.... Maybe coast-to-coast. He makes friends so easily it would be another tear-jerker
Hank is a true English gent. 👍 heart on his sleeve
OUTSTANDING Hank!!
Well done all involved...... wonderful ride for a great cause. Well done to GCN for giving it the coverage it deserved.
Well done Hank. What a great cause and RIP Doddie, but never forgotten. Forever young
Great effort for a fantastic cause. My Name’5 Doddie foundation.
Hank is ALL HEART. At nearly 70 I marvel at his heroic feats of endurance. Loved the video. Great cause. Great Rugby game to top it off too.

Emotional just watching it let alone taking part.
Brilliant!
Hank, you are the pride of cycling!
A brilliant video, and great effort from all involved. As a North Eastern rugby player, it was lovely to see some familiar clubs. I can 100% agree with the drafting potential of rugby cyclists! Top work everyone.
All of Hank’s epic rides are great, but this one really moved me. What a great cause!
Great to hear that you enjoyed it! 🙌
I've never heard of the man and I'm choked up! Amazing to be thought of so highly and what a great fundraiser!!!
As a Scotfish Rugby fan, seeing my love of cycling and GCN merging with this most fantastic of causes has made me very emotional. I just wish the Mad Giraffe was still around to see this. Chapeau Hank and all those Doddie participants
We loved getting stuck into this challenge! A great cause and a great ride 🙌

Cracking work Hank! The most wrecked I think I've ever seen him. Mark was suspiciously absent from the video!
Well done Hank, great effort for a great cause.

Hank & GCN thanks for sharing this beautiful journey and sharing your support for a great cause !!! Keep inspiring ❤️
Hank much respect. This not only was an amazing and epic ride but even better is your obvious determination to help with this charity. Kudos to you

Absolutely great video, I love these types if rides where they have a purpose so really well done Hank. Your a legend.
