Women and girls across the world continue to experience violence at home, online, in school, at the workplace and in public spaces at alarming rates. UNSILENCED shares the stories of survivors, activists and service providers working to respond to and prevent this human rights violation. They ask all of us to act now so that every woman and girl can live a life free of violence.
UNSILENCED takes viewers on a journey across 16 different countries in six regions of the world to shed light on the continued magnitude and harmful impacts of violence against women and girls across the world. The film covers critical themes on ending violence against women, ranging from preventing female genital mutilation (FGM), technology-based solutions, women’s rights activism, school-based interventions to prevent violence, the role of religious and traditional leaders in changing social norms, and more.
The film draws on UN Women’s expertise as the leading global entity on gender equality, delivering programmes, policies and standards to prevent violence, uphold women’s human rights and ensure that every woman and girl lives up to her full potential.
