It's good that you're doing a full rewatch of AoT before the final since the break before part 1 left you a little underwhelmed after watching it. But honestly, it seems to me that you're putting yourself in quite a bit of pressure when it come to all those finals. Is it that you feel that you owe it to those shows ? If that's what blocking you, in a way I find quite amusing because a lot of shows also struggle with their ends. Or maybe I'm wrong, it's just that with The Last of Us, Evangelion and AoT, there is a pattern with you struggling with the endings of high quality shows. Despite being one of those, I don't think it'll be the same with Hunter x Hunter thougnt.
@Sednoob maybe he doesn't feel the momentum anymore and doesn't want to watch mindlessly just because he has to complete series he started.
Personally sometimes I started something and got really into it then drop it before the endings because along the way I feel that the author is not in command of his own voice and actually is leading the works in pointless directions.
A satisfying ending is rare in fictions, and an ending that makes the journey worth all the pains and mental investement and attachment is even rarer.
If you develop a taste for great writing you also develop a disdain for generic and mediocre writing, and if a series is not consistently competent it is unavoidable to lose interests.
AoT was never original in concept and the execution is also mediocre. It is only so popular because it speaks to the mentality of this age : mindless violence and cruelty, and honestly cheap thrills. it has a negative writing style that manipulate and cheapen the audience, turning them into reactive muscles. Tragic really.
Evangelion has great style but is also extremely pessimistic and emotionally draining in terms of psychoanalysis. It's depressing and can affect mental health.
Monster is consistently good but also depressing.
HxH has more uplifting and positive writing. Also it is original and is an adventure series that offers excitement as well as intellectually stimulating. It is very much something to help you heal.
I think to not finish a series is a very natural reaction, I do it all the times.
I like that he's not forcing himself and allows himself to do what he feels.
@@tng2022 From what I've seen with Attack on Titan or currently with One Piece, I think that a lot of disappointment from some of the fans comes from their own doing : before the ending, they only saw what they wanted to see, and so when the ending came, their views were shattered and rather than putting into question their reasoning, they accused the manga of changing. Filmbuff has a good understanding of Attack on Titan and it doesn't take that much to see how the ending is completely in line with everything that happened before. Considering how Filmbuff loved AoT, I don't think he'll think the ending is unfitted.
Obviously he lost the momentum and we can definitely point to how the last season of AoT was produced. But it can't be a sufficient reason why Filmbuff struggle with the ending of a lot of show, since the same happened with several show on this channel. It is quite a recurrent issue, whether or not the show lost itself by the end of it (like GoT), the realease was too slow (like AoT), or there was no issue at all (like Evangelion or The Last of Us).
I don't want to make it anything bigger than it is, since what he would say on the last video of AoT seems pretty clear to me anyway. But let's say that my suspicion is that we'll never get his reaction to the end of AoT.
@@Sednoob I did complete The Last of us, yes I Had planned more content on it and that didn’t happen, but the game was completed. Eva is just a case of unfortunate timing with real life stuff/obligations, which also affected stuff like Monster, Doctor Who and Vinland saga. lets not forget that stuff just because those weren’t paused on finales.
Eva just happened to be on the last episode when things changed a bit with the time I had for content creation, unfortunately. There is no struggle with covering the Eva ending, just timing issues. As specified in the comment, I will be getting back to it.
Mainly, it’s just about timing and juggling real life with content creation. Plenty of series have been completed on the channel, including perhaps my best Reaction/analysis series, Dark. Which is a strong contender for the highest quality show I might have covered.
That being said, indeed sometimes there can be a bit of pressure I put on myself to give something a worthy final video, or any video really. In many ways, that line of thinking has applied to most things I cover or would like to cover, and the thought of ever putting out mediocre content, or half assed content has probably stopped me from covering quite a bit of stuff. It’s always been this block/speed bump.
@@Sednoob GoT was simply a choice I made. I did not want to come back after months of being away and post those vids. I was content with my decision. I watched most of GoT off screen, only really started vids for it around S6.

That Rammot scene was a beautiful example of show don't tell. I don't know if I've ever seen a better illustration of a character being dominated and his will breaking.
And Neferpitou knows it, judging by the smile when Rammot bends the second knee, submitting completely.

I've always loved the Hagya scene in this episode. Can you imagine being in his shoes? Having been a lion who was killed and reborn as a human. The perspective of a former lion and the new understanding. Coming from him " now we are armed with the ability to learn" sounds so cool.
Agreed, his whole bitter realization, finishing with that line, was elite.
Togashi just has these awesome throwaway bits from random side characters, taking every chance to lend them agency. Especially here as he commits hard to the idea of phagogenesis, with some Ants clearly leaning harder into their animal origins than any human contributions.

This is when the arc really clicked for me. Rammot, Hagya, Pitou... The evolution of these beings and the threat they truly display. Great stuff.
Nefer, Shaia, Menthuthu are all Egyptian deities.

I like how you can use Hisoka's "personality nen test/analysis" to learn the type. Like, you can clearly see that Rammot is an enhancer - even before water-test. And Pitou - specialist, i think you can sort-of see it too from even this episode. Just as Hisoka said - its not 100% accurate, but it makes a lot of sense and can be useful, for example, if you dont know someone's ability yet, or its so weird that you cant pin-point their nen-position.

40:25 when he said this I though of how the story coud have went if for some reason, one of the guard did not have access to nen. could have been a very interesting dynamic between the 3, with one of them doubting their place in the hierarchy perhaps. but of course this would have a big impact on the story, still cool to think about
