Fun fact, In the entire anime, this scene is the only time where we can hear Killua's footsteps. He was so focused on getting to Gon he didn't bother to silence his footsteps for the very first time.
There is a video here on youtube of children activists in Oaxaca a long time ago and they were interviewing an 9 year old who is the target of the police, and the military when they attempted to rape his sister who was 7 but the parents died saving her from that. and joined the city in an all out war in that city, and during his interview a reporter asks aren't you scared they will kill you? he simply says "Que pase lo que tiene que pasar" it translate to "let what needs to happen, happen" hearing it from a child was one of the craziest thing ever.
He basically made a nen deal/restriction just like Kurapika did to strengthen his chains against the spiders, except the deal was much more severe in Gon's case where he sacrificed all his nen and whatever he learned to become a temporary monster. In HxH, nen users can often strengthen their abilities with restrictions but the greater the restriction, the greater the power. It's a double edged sword. Also what Pitou used to attack Gon after he killed her is known as "Nen after death" which is nen that can be directed at the enemy in any way after death if the user feels immense hatred towards that person and in Pitou's case, she's so worried about Gon killing the king/Meruem that "Nen after death" was enabled. The writing in this arc is so beautiful, Togashi shows that Light (Gon) and Dark (Meruem) switch positions and it's amazing. Meruem starts caring for life and starts loving while Gon goes insane and loses his humanity to become a monster.
@Allassan Sankara that is old manga/anime trope. Gon is done. having some actual consequences and people still try to find ass pulls to come in and "invigorate" the story.

Bro, I just found your channel with this video, and it's possibly the best way to get into your reactions, when I see people react to HxH, THIS episode is what brought everything down for me! I watched it for the first time at the start of this year, I ended up binge watching it in 4 days, I saw 130 before work and then the whole day was a mess in excitement! By far the best anime series! Can't wait to see more!
I watch a lot of reaction channels, and i gotta say you guys are probably my favorites, the little edits thrown in the middle to comedic effect are fantastic and the way roshi reacts to HxH giving some thought to a series that deserves is great to see
Through the entire anime it's said that Gon can be a "monster", and this is it. What he does here is a vow/restriction "I don't care if this is the end, so I will use everything" He is trading everything (his potential, his life and nen) in exchange for the enough aura to defeat Pitou. Because it's too much aura for his "child body" his body also matures to an age that can actually take the amount of aura he is gaining.
several things he sacrificed anything he could , not to fight but to MURDER pitou. gon doesn't know nen restriction, he just left it to nen and it took everything. another thing is that nen slows your age. he might look thirty but were don't know whats his actual age is, he might be 80 for all we know. in his low self worth state that he were, his life doesn't actually mean that much to him, so nen took EVERYTHInG this boy had to offer,
The universal reaction to this episode is usually, "Here's the fight we've been waiting for!" near the beginning, and then, "NOT LIKE THIS!" by the end.
everytime I rewatch the series, this is the episode I look forward to. It is akin to the end of FMA:Brotherhood. Giving up all your power forever for one miracle.
i remember crying watching this fight, probably the only time i couldn't find any happiness watching a protagonist exceed themself and destroy their enemy, it will never be a satisfying fight..
If you look into it, Gon and Meruem's journey and character development mirrored each other beautifully. That is one of the best anime moment I've ever seen.
Kite taught Gon to go for the head in their encounter together. So, he kinda just kept putting full power Jajanken blasts on Pitou's dome, and only her dome, for a while. His nen potential was always said to be incredibly high. What he did was sacrifice all of that for the power to kill Pitou. Pitou was worried about him going after the King, but he literally didn't care about anything but killing Pitou right then and there. One of Pitou's Nen abilities was to control things with her nen marionette. The same marionette could be used to increase her physical abilities significantly. Since she was worried about Gon killing the King, her ability took over her dead corpse and tried to go for Gon, taking his arm. What a lot of people believe, however, is that Gon intentionally allowed her to take it, since she'd taken Kite's arm in the first encounter.
Nen is like DnD in a way, a player(character) presents a scenario(ability) to the DM(author) and then the DM(author) tells the player(character) what they will have to do in order to accomplish their goal such as rolling a high enough number(clearing certain conditions) and then applying certain consequences if those conditions aren't met equivalent to how risky the scenario(ability) was.
Yo my G he said it himself. He used EVERYTHING. Hes shaved years off his life yes, ya know how many? ALL OF THEM. He used all of his potential and life energy and sacrificed it all for that power. The aftermath is... bad.
Every reaction to this episode is always about Gon. Nobody talks about how sad and brutal Pitou's death is. I think that's what makes this episode way more harrowing for me than just the tragedy involving Gon.
I like how for this scene that they didn't use "oh yeah there's this monster inside this positive good guy" trope. The anime shows that this is really Gon and this is what he wants to become.
When pitou attacked gon during his transformation I really wished he dragged her by the face all the way to the exit and then said that he didn't want to destroy the place
I would've LOVED to see a fight scene between Adult Gon, and King. But it happening right after Komugi dies. Them, both with nothing to lose, and total absolute control over the rage. It would've been so epic, no budget could have covered it lmao
Basically Gon setup a similar situation as Kirapika, Basically aging his body to a point where he would have the strength to destroy her, but at the expense of never using Nen again or surviving the wear on his body... that’s why he said he didn’t care if he lived or died
HxH fights are my favorite only thing i could complain about is the lack of them. They can be brutal very strategic hype and fast. The inner thoughts of the ones fighting just beatiful
This is the best depiction of utter dispair in an anime. They show him in denial, rage acceptance and then hopeless. To the point killing hills if need be…

Basically Gon setup a similar situation as Kirapika, Basically aging his body to a point where he would have the strength to destroy her, but at the expense of never using Nen again or surviving the wear on his body... that’s why he said he didn’t care if he lived or died
It was so hard to not wait for this episode!! AHHH I'm happy you got to see this one and see your reaction!!
To the point killing hills if need be…
Love your reaction bro. I didn’t watch your reaction to this series because I was waiting for you to react to this very episode 😭
Top 5 episodes of all time no question, number 1 for me
ITS TIME, I WAS WAITING SO LONG FOR YOU TO GET HERE MAN I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS
pitou: he's already dead
gon: no you are
I never get tired of watching this fight ... the music , the imagery and everything really came together.. I clicked on this with the God Speed 😂😂
Masterpiece episode. Perfect music, wonderful voiceacting. Pure perfection
You know you've lost when the little kid turns into escanor
Do you remember when Phantom Troupe mentioned that nen after death is super scary if resolve is high. Well that happened to Pitou!
Also Gon can't use nen anymore yup...
DONT let this distract you from the fact that bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum!
I love the hype your giving this in the OP
Been waiting for this like Christmas morning 🙏
