thank you, RJ! Of course you are right. Still I'm almost thankful that ignorant pricks do exist. Without them I wouldn't be able to really and deeply appreciate the "good guys" out there! :)
It's really an awesome feeling watching you ride. Stumbled upon your account a few weeks ago while browsing through random videos on YT and I'm really glad I did. Keep it up man and ride safe. Greetings from Sweden!
Love this vid! Every biker has different things they like, whether it be a tricked out streetfighter, supersport, enduro, cafe racer or anything else. Anyone on a motorcycle is my friend :) Bikers unite!
great ride ! i've got the same bike as you but not the same riding level (for the moment...) you show that controlling 50hp is nicer than using 25% of a 150hp bike ! congratulations !
+Schaaf i've got a gpz500 for the road and a cb500 for the pleasure. wont change them for a too powerful (and expensive)1000cc. and to answer to others comments, in France you could find a nice cb from 1200usd and we also have nice roads to enjoy them :-)
I don't know anything about motorcycles, what bike is this? This looks like an absolute blast! I've thought getting a motorcycle someday would be awesome but I have absolutely no idea where to start and I have no desire for a super bike
Well I rode sv650 for 2 years and yes it was very fun. But also very dangerous, that thing had bad suspension (compared to my R1) and weak brakes. R1 is also strangely more comfortable. So it's not all about power you see. But I know the feeling when you feel like your bike is a bicycle (you outperform your bike).
What a great attitude; nice to meet another rider who is open to other rider's skills. What a fun ride you guys had carving that road...I was (trying to) leaning right along with you, imagining I was riding with such skill! Great vid, Schaaf!
I was leaning too /o/. You Sir really knows how to ride. And yes, i hate those guys who think that the real bikers are only the ones with super bikes. I used to have a Suzuki Yes 125cc, then a Ninja 250 and now a GSX 650F, but i really considered to bought a CB500 just like your, and i was looking for videos of this bike like a year ago and then i found you... even not buying the bike, i keep up with your videos !
I've had a guy on some 50 cc or so moped nearly catch up to me on my 650 cc ER-6n on this road when I was breaking it in and learning the feel of it. Schaaf would kick my ass with his 500 even if I'd practice riding this road for a week. :O
An amazing video, as usual:) I myself am riding a small cc (300) bike, too, and those who say a small bike is not as fun as a bigger one clearly don't know what they are talking about. It's always a pleaseure to watch your vids, ride safe Schaaf!
Dude you should post some of the audio to Soundcloud, we can relax and clear the mind while listening to your Honda revving around Austrian mountains. Can't get enough of that popping on deceleration!
I've got a youtube playlist with all my onboard rides on my channel. Just press play and listen ;) Thanks for the nice words, I hope I can further improve my recording technique this season :)
Awesome. If I remember right, like me, you also use a Zoom H1. The left/right pickups are on top of each other so you probably loose the 'stereo feel'. I use Giant Squid Audio Lab's lav mic (it doesn't require a crappy battery), they also do a stereo version which would allow you to increase the distance between the pickups inside your bag to get a greater variation between the left/right channels. Just my two cents, not me saying I know any better - hope it helps :)
Yeah really good video. So nice to hear the motor! I hate it when people add terrible Muzak so wie im Fahrstuhl. Geht mich vollig auf die Nerven. The camera work is superb. The bike sounds fantastic. The riding skills are first class. I lived for a year in the Black Forest so the scenery is nice as well. Gruesse aus Boston in den USA.
There is also a clip around of a yellow goldwing 1800 who is followed by a proper racer who has a gopro. That guy on the racer almost loses the goldwing out of sight. Those are lovely clips to watch. Same like this one! Ride safe schaaf!
Just discovered your videos as I am buying a 2002 CB500 to replace my stolen 1000cc mega-bike. Your videos cheer me up! I am looking forward to it now.
Sorry for the delay but no time to write a comment instead (lots of work!) When I had my CB 500, I loved chase bigger bike than the little Honda, and your video reminds me a lot of memories, thank you Schaaf !
Good spirit for riding a motorcycle, mate. Always nice to meet a kindred spirit on two wheels, especially if you're having fun in the process. You got some major riding skills too. Always fun to watch videos like this (subbed btw). Ps: 'Round here, the only people who ever spoke of 'real riders' were people who don't ride themselves. It's so easy to pass judgement on what they don't know. Keep riding and sharing, bro. Stay safe and have fun!
Nice riding. I've just sold my CB750 which I bought 5 years ago after only one season on my 1st bike, GS500. Now I understand that my decision was too quick and I'm not looking for a 100HP or more. I'm gonna get myself CB or CBF500 as I still have something to prove on 500cc :) Your videos are really inspiring.
They criticize you for jealousy, they cannot believe their ears and their eyes when you and your "little Girl" pass them by. You are a great Driver man and you have a great bike. Thanks for the videos.
I‘ve watched this Video quit a few times. But it always is fun and the chat of you both is how every biker chat should be 🙌 What a long way you came from to you actual Videos 👌
I have the same bike 1994 Honda CB500 PC26 but never ride it like that, after i had a spill in 2005, and broke my collar bone. Inspiring to watch you ride.
Nice one, and hats off to the chap on the blade for his great attitude... every time I go out I am guaranteed to get snobbery of others. then like you say when you meet those who dont give a dam what you ride it still only has two wheels! it is a good feeling.
You are a good guy schaaf, only just discovered your channel as I am considering a cb for my wife to learn on. I used to ride an xt 600 for many of the same reasons you do and I learned to keep up with much better and bigger bikes so I totally get where you are coming from.

I would love to see myself on a bigger bike as well ;) I certainly won't upgrade too soon but maybe I still can test ride something different this season!
Gut gefahren, gut geschnitten.
Super Video. Bist schön an ihm dran geblieben. Mach weiter so.
Saw this year's ago, still a great video, reminds me when I had my cb500 and my license. People just don't understand what an underrated bike the old cb is. It goes stops and turns in well
I'm always covering the front brake lever with my right index finger. As long as I'm not giving full throttle. As soon as I do that I can't cover the lever any longer with my finger. I then like to keep it straight because I like to get it back to the lever as quick as possible as soon as I close the throttle again. It's more a tic than anything else ^^
Schaaf That makes sense since I like to cover my front brake as well, With my setup though (aftermarket adjustable brake lever) I'm still able to cover the front brake while on full throttle without actually touching it so I just found the finger a bit odd.
Sirref yea you can see that I have to squeeze my throttle pretty good and far to get to full throttle actually. Not an ideal setup of course but I'm riding like this since the beginning so I got kind of used to it.
Schaaf I have to say i'm pretty lucky with the roads around me. I live in a beautiful area of the UK with lots of country roads but that stretch on your vlog looks like banking heaven.Good luck with the videos and stay shiny side up.
This reminds me of riding with my friend. We both have CB750s and when we get to the twisties i go around the corners about 15-20mph faster than he does then he gets all ballsy and flys by me when im not paying attention on the straight away and i just chuckle to my self even tho ive raced him in the straight away and beaten him EVERYTIME even literally when he'd been riding for about 6 months and id been riding for about 2 weeks... on my first bike a 750 lol!
Hi ,Schaaf .Always shows good views from your CB 500 ;) . On very tight bends , we ,both , know what can be done with the CB .There is no complex when I ride with powerful bikes on the bends .... Straight lines are not challenge for us ;))) See you .
You always take those cornes so good ;) its awesome how your name is schaaf because it dutch it means that you are like scraping the road just like you do in your videos ;D
Exactly. Luckily we have a couple of winding roads here which never really let them open up the throttle that much. On such roads I just chase them in the most annoyingly way possible. Usually doesn't take long until they move aside.
tastyhamsandwhich I might have missed a word... when someone is faster in a straight line, you pass under brakes and then it doesnt matter if they have a faster bike, because you have slowed their exit speed. Isnt that what you were referring to? Or was I mistaken?
Nerb1 Oh I see what you mean now. That works great on a race track (I've done this many times at Eastern Creek) but there's no chance I would try that on the road. Definately not on a one lane road :P A two lane road is better, but still sketchy when you are both riding fast. The only time I would get close to another bike while going fast on the road would be coming up to a straight so I could pass them safely. But what I was referring to was when the straights come up, usually the big bike is keen to leave the 250 behind and takes off.. Then the corners start again and the 250 is stuck behind the big bike again! I think you just missed that we were talking about the street :)
LG
i know it doesn't matter what you ride but how you ride it but it is always a nice warm feeling keeping up with a sportsbike... As you say some really dont like it though :)
Schickes Video!
i think your riding skill said it all for the fireblade. i like what rj said. a motorbike is a motorbike. i doubt i would get anywhere near you on my er500.
i ride a ktm 950 sm myself(and i enjoy the heck outa it) but i trully believe that it isn't the bike that makes you a great rider its the way you ride your bike. i live in near the german border and spend most of my weekends in the ruhreifel. and i see loads of R1's and equal bike riders that are riding like shit. hardly are able to take a corner etc. the only thing they shine on is on longer straights. i trully enjoy seeing you push your bike to the limits and scrape those foodpegs to dust. keep up the good work with your awesome vids!
thanks a lot for your awesome comment, I really appreciate it! This is why YT is so much fun. Apparently and luckily many folks think just like you and it's my greatest pleasure to share my rides with people like you!!
Impressive video man, Was it the knee sliders scraping or the pegs? that was mad lean angle so it oculd of been both maybe aha :) alot of motorbike riders underestimate little bikes, just because they can gas it in a straight line and be away from them, but as soon as the next corner comes up their right up behind them again
my pegs are not the problem. They are equipped with tiny springs. The pegs start to "fold up" (dunno how to say this in English) as soon as they touch the ground. I just have to lift off my foot a little. The actual problem is the exhaust on the right side. It's mounted very low.
Ah rite I thought the scraping was your pegs ha, cos in moto GP ther almost like pillion pegs. Yeah I'd say fold up is the rite way of sayin it. You should try n make a custom system to get it higher
blaneysiktube The pegs do scrape! But they are not limiting my lean angle. I'll have to film this this spring to show you guys (it also looks kinda rad). It's actually not that hard to change the CBs exhaust pipe. There are CB500 racing series. All of them have modified exhausts mounted a lot higher. But the police will immediately take away my license plate if they catch me with such an illegal mod. That's why I'm not changing it. Maybe I will as soon as I have another bike as backup. But this is not going to happen anytime soon.
Man I do love watching you fly around on that Honda! Scares me sometimes, but I love it! Your note at the end kinda pisses me off though! It's BS that you've had rider's profile you based on your CB500... A motorcyclist is ANYONE that's riding a motorcycle, I throw scooters in that mix too. You are the better man here Schaaf! You even take the time to interact with other riders, and that's awesome! Please be careful out there...
"Real Motorcyclist" bullshit. Anyone on 2 wheels with an engine is a Motorcyclist, be it 50cc or 1800cc. Nice vid schaaf :)
First "Real Motorcyclist" who thinks im a "Real Motorcyclist" :D
thank you, RJ! Of course you are right. Still I'm almost thankful that ignorant pricks do exist. Without them I wouldn't be able to really and deeply appreciate the "good guys" out there! :)
I couldn't agree more RJ!!!
for sure :)
Respect
Better to ride a small bike well ,than a big bike badly.
+Michael Evans yes! Thanks Michael!

Irwing Silva Yes, Schaaf is a fav of mine...you said it well!
WheelsNotHeels Irwing Silva Thank you SO much!! You guys rock!
Schaff its not what you ride its how you ride it! I love watching you thrash the little honda.
that's what I'm preaching ;) Thank you!!
Cubes aren;t the be all of having fun and being able to put a huge grin on your face.. Keep safe and enjoy youre little Honda.
Right on

and this is why i'm picking up a Yamaha MT-03 next saturday! So much fun blasting a little bike around curvy roads, chasing supersports!
awesome, the MT-03 must be fantastic to ride!
thnx for sharing... safe rides

I am looking forward to it now.
sorry to hear that but at least I can assure that you've made an excellent choice :D
I have just picked up my new steed...but the original mirrors are a bit battered. What kind are on yours?
Sorry for the delay but no time to write a comment instead (lots of work!)
When I had my CB 500, I loved chase bigger bike than the little Honda, and your video reminds me a lot of memories, thank you Schaaf !
no need to be the fastest everywhere ;))))) Thank you, Blackcat! Glad my videos can do this for you!
Give that little Honda just a few more BHP and the Fireblade is history!! Awesome video /driving!
thanks a lot!
That was awesome! I wish we had roads like that here. Glad to hear that the guy on the Fireblade was cool. It's always nice to meet friendly bikers.
indeed it is! Thanks a lot!!

I love it when riders on little bike can hold their own in the twisties. Awesome video. :D
This is really it. I totally agree.
Zone Television ToastToGo thanks, guys!!
Awesome schaaf, nice story at the end too. Agree with RJ any 2 wheel bike is a biker irrespective of their engine size
thank you! :)
And all the best to your new friend!
Nice riding!!! Your videos are really good :D
thanks a lot!! :)
Nice riding Schaaf, on the twisties there won't be much that could lose you on the CB.
thanks, Oak! Much appreciated!
Love your videos!!! I have XJ600N, something like your CB500:-) You inspire me to dynamic cornering and to ride at all! Greetings from Kraków, Poland!
thanks a lot :) Best wishes from Vienna, Austria :)
Schaaf Thanks, be careful!
They criticize you for jealousy, they cannot believe their ears and their eyes when you and your "little Girl" pass them by.
You are a great Driver man and you have a great bike.
Thanks for the videos.
thank you for the nice comment!!

you are welcome...keep up the good riding
So cool video!! Keep on pushing! It is never the bike only the rider!
thanks Tim!
Great road and great attitude , thx for the upload!
Keep rippin' those corners up, Bravo!
thanks a lot!!
hehehe, danke vielmals :)
You are a good guy schaaf, only just discovered your channel as I am considering a cb for my wife to learn on. I used to ride an xt 600 for many of the same reasons you do and I learned to keep up with much better and bigger bikes so I totally get where you are coming from.
thanks Mike
proves the point of its not what you have but how you use it.before my blade |i had an 848 and would show up big bikes all the time.they used to think it was a 1098 before I corrected them.nice vid.
thanks a lot, phantom! A member of the group I sometimes go riding with used to have an 848 as well - what a weapon!!!
I would love another but the running costs were too much for me.maybe an 899 next as it has no belts to worry about.
some good riding you did there m8 to catch up ,, good stuff shane
thanks, shane!
Its all about the corners. My little CB handles very sweetly. Sometimes its great to get 75% out of a smaller bike than 40% out of a litre sports bike.

pegs
thanx for answer
"Chase mode Engaged "
Very nice ride and very cool you guys had a chat :)
Very good video
Thumbs up
You could tell from the jump who was more confident..
***** thanks a lot, Sam!!!
is there any particular reason for the habit you seem to have with your right index finger? that being, keeping it straight as you pin the throttle.
You're an excellent rider!!! loved that video
thanks a lot, Pavel!!
What a beautiful piece of road to ride !!
I'm lucky enough to call this one my "home track" ;)
Schaaf I have to say i'm pretty lucky with the roads around me. I live in a beautiful area of the UK with lots of country roads but that stretch on your vlog looks like banking heaven.Good luck with the videos and stay shiny side up.
Jeremy Markham thanks!! You too ride safe!!
Well done brother 👍😁
Thanks 👍
This reminds me of riding with my friend. We both have CB750s and when we get to the twisties i go around the corners about 15-20mph faster than he does then he gets all ballsy and flys by me when im not paying attention on the straight away and i just chuckle to my self even tho ive raced him in the straight away and beaten him EVERYTIME even literally when he'd been riding for about 6 months and id been riding for about 2 weeks... on my first bike a 750 lol!
haha getting ballsy on the straight bits. Totally badass ;)
yea i think im just a way better rider than him lol
Some killer riding there bro. You sure can lean that bike.
thanks man!
Man, u re better rider than most bikers on 600's or 1000's. Technique makes you real motorcyclist not that how big your bike is.
Cheers mate!
much appreciated, thank you!!!
You ride like I would if I could! So much control..
thank you very much!!
¿That sound are pegs scraping?
Wow dude, you always surprise me about what can be done with our "little" CB/CBF 500.
yes, the sound is coming from the pegs!! Thanks, man!
sec. 39, scratching the street?
+Biktejebo yes
Not machine, but practice makes you good rider.
You're a great rider. You can easily follow a 954 with a CB500 ;)
Nice riding, every dude on a bike is for me a fellow friend! Thank you for posting this video! Ehte spitze!¨;) Grettings from Croatia ;) peace
+Luka Zlogleđa thank you Luka!!!
Hi ,Schaaf .Always shows good views from your CB 500 ;) . On very tight bends , we ,both , know what can be done with the CB .There is no complex when I ride with powerful bikes on the bends .... Straight lines are not challenge for us ;)))
See you .
that is 100% correct, my friend!! Thank you! :)
Happy*
You always take those cornes so good ;)
its awesome how your name is schaaf because it dutch it means that you are like scraping the road just like you do in your videos ;D
hahaha I just looked up 'schaaf' in the dutch-german online dictionary! That's awesome!! :D Thanks for telling me this, Finn!!
cb 500 is awesome! bought a new one in 96.
Nice vid, you really know how to strangle all the power out of your twin... Top ride
thank you very much!!
Wie immer schön anzusehen. Du verbläst mich ja zweimal übern Kogel ;-)
danke danke!! 8 Jahre mittlerweile ;)
What is your exhaust?
Vielen Dank.
Tulbinger Kogel - Katzelsdorf
👍
Da will man doch auch gleich wieder auf's Bike!!
Sehr tolle Videos machst du! :)
danke dir! :)
Dude, your bike is the bomb. I regard you as a true motorcyclist. I have a little cb400, you should check it out.
thanks, man! Got a video of that cb400?
Danke dir vielmals!! :)
Some of the lines you took through the corners were shocking hahaa good pace non the less. you only grip the throttle with 3 fingers????????
4 fingers! Why shocking?
Oh how I know those feels. Faster in the corners but can't overtake, when it opens up so do they and no chance of passing...
Exactly. Luckily we have a couple of winding roads here which never really let them open up the throttle that much. On such roads I just chase them in the most annoyingly way possible. Usually doesn't take long until they move aside.
Cmon Ham, thats what brakes are for. When you bigger faster bikes under brakes, they dont get their run out of the corner.
Nerb1
I don't think I follow.. ?
tastyhamsandwhich I might have missed a word... when someone is faster in a straight line, you pass under brakes and then it doesnt matter if they have a faster bike, because you have slowed their exit speed.
Isnt that what you were referring to? Or was I mistaken?
Nerb1
Oh I see what you mean now.
You know how not to give a single fuck haha.
which setup do you use? leovince and K&N? or somehing else?
Ride on, and CB 500 4 Life
i know it doesn't matter what you ride but how you ride it but it is always a nice warm feeling keeping up with a sportsbike... As you say some really dont like it though :)
it truly is. To me riding quick in "closed formation" is the ultimate thrill. Biking doesn't get any better than that for me.
What tires were you using?
BT45
Beeindruckende Fahrweise, Keule!
Schickes Video!
Willkommen in meiner Welt ^^ Danke dir!!
i think your riding skill said it all for the fireblade. i like what rj said. a motorbike is a motorbike. i doubt i would get anywhere near you on my er500.
thank you! True!
i ride a ktm 950 sm myself(and i enjoy the heck outa it) but i trully believe that it isn't the bike that makes you a great rider its the way you ride your bike. i live in near the german border and spend most of my weekends in the ruhreifel. and i see loads of R1's and equal bike riders that are riding like shit. hardly are able to take a corner etc. the only thing they shine on is on longer straights.
i trully enjoy seeing you push your bike to the limits and scrape those foodpegs to dust. keep up the good work with your awesome vids!
thanks a lot for your awesome comment, I really appreciate it! This is why YT is so much fun. Apparently and luckily many folks think just like you and it's my greatest pleasure to share my rides with people like you!!
Hoffentlich!! Genau so muss es sein!
Nice riding. Can hear you scrape 😎
thanks
Impressive video man, Was it the knee sliders scraping or the pegs? that was mad lean angle so it oculd of been both maybe aha :) alot of motorbike riders underestimate little bikes, just because they can gas it in a straight line and be away from them, but as soon as the next corner comes up their right up behind them again
thanks a lot!!! The scraping sound came from the pegs. I very rarely ride hang off.
ahh ok, i just saw the lean angle, and it definitly could be thought its your knee scraping, brilliant channel man :)
I wish i could ride my cb500 like that !! Good video !
you could! Just take your time, relax, and practice. I succeeded with riding quick the moment I stopped trying too hard.
I want to drive like this in the bends, man. I will give you how much money. Do you have any special equipment you use?
practice and experience
Schaaf thx Bro. Be safe.
looked like so much fun!
it was!!
Breathtaking, enjoyed the fucking full length of this vid soooo amazing
thanks man!
Nice riding man! I used to always get angry people when I beat thenm on a 125 haha. You could do with having your footpegs raised!
my pegs are not the problem.
Yeah if its not broke don't fix it ! Look forward to seeing it
Man I do love watching you fly around on that Honda!
Thanks for your nice comment, Shawn!
Verry good driving skills!
thanks Victor!!
