  • This is my first major 3D print as well as my first prop gun build. I didn't realize how long this thing would take but I could estimate it was a little over 48 hours total. Overall it was a fun project and learning experience, a lot of mistakes were made and if you noticed there are missing parts from the gun (tubing on the left side and a spiral ring thing in the middle). Anyways, thanks for watching!

    really nice work looks good. one cool tip i found to work well is think out the wood filler with water to make it work better. also you can use bondo and acetone to make a really good finish

    Great job on the assembly and sanding and smoothing... shame you didn't put the effort in at the end and ruined it with such a terrible paintjob. Take your time on the next one, it's worth it.

    How many coats of primer and wood filler did you need to use to make smooth?
    Also, the gun looks great!

      I started with wood filler because I had a lot of warping since I was still new to 3d printing. I would suggest filler first and then primer, and then use some more wood filler/bondo. Definitely sand in between any of these steps, otherwise you're start losing detail in the print. Hope this was helpful, good luck!

    I've been planning on buying my own 3d printer soon, and was planning on making this build. I have never done something like this before, any tips for someone really new to the making scene? Also, what kind of steps did you go through for the process until completion?

    • @iNecroGaming
      @iNecroGaming 7 лет назад

      Also, what infill settings/speed/layer height did you use for this?

    • @dtb4379
      @dtb4379  7 лет назад

      Hey iNecro! My only tip is to be ready to learn a lot, it's just little things like "Don't forget to level the bed if a print is coming out bad. or How to unclog filament from the extruder. etc" But it's lots of fun! I highly recommend getting a printer if you want to start building things.As for the process of this gun:
      1)Print all the pieces
      2)Glue pieces together
      3)Fill any gaps with either bondo or wood filler
      4)Sand and Prime
      5)Repeat 3 and 4
      6)Paint model
      7)Profit
      Good luck mate, hope this was helpful.

      DTB Thanks for the info! Good luck on your future products as well. Just one more question, about how much filament did this specific build take? Thanks

    • @dtb4379
      @dtb4379  7 лет назад

      Thank you for the kind words, and I probably used less than half a spool of 1kg ABS filament.

      DTB Alright, sorry to bother but just one more thing, would you happen to remember your infill setting? Thanks
