Based on James Clavell’s novel, FX’s Shōgun is set in Japan in the year 1600 at the dawn of a century-defining civil war. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village.

The level of dedication is as fierce as the action.
Scammers..
Advertise with posters highlighting sengoku jidai war themes..
In Reality its a politically boring show with unnecessary drama..
What a stunning TV show, less action but full of unpredictable plot, make our brain continue guessing what is next and next... Hopefully FX will highly consider continuing with season 2. Bravo....
Are there any plans to make GAI JIN as well?

"we give her plenty to play with" it's been 10 yrs since G0T s4 enough with the BTS replacing actual film footage enjoyance already! i thought you was gonna end HBO, not try to play their game () you gave us next to NOTHING in terms of naginata plays.
Shōgun is the best miniseries of this year . The dedication for this show is amazing , and the crew behind this series needs a praise . I hope the series gets Emmy nominations ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ .
All. Of. This.
Yes sir, me too
Garbage
They won!!!!
You know a shows good when you start watching the behind the scenes ❤
lol you nailed it
u got it backwards.
omg me
Its like how i know the LOTR extended editions and BTS back to front from childhood
1:34 I would like to briefly explain why the wives and daughters of samurai families at that time were trained in the martial art of using "naginata" instead of a sword or spear as a culture.
In order for you to control a sword or spear on the battlefield, you need both big pulling forces and big pushing forces, but the main pulling force is enough for you to control the naginata. In addition, the grip of the naginata is in the shape of a long stick, which makes it possible to change the grip position freely, and it is possible to increase the rotation speed of the naginata’s tip.
In other words, even with a minimum of input, a weapon developed to produce the same output as a sword or spear is the "naginata".
ok sure but only killed 2 npc out of the pack which were told not to hurt the princess and she fell on her own knees. was just cringe.
@@lyrilljackson Life isn't a video game.
@@lyrilljacksonbecause it's realistic, no way mariko in that clothing can actually kill more than 2 samurais that have guarding castle as a job. She is not superhuman
@@terraruins and even then, I doubt she killed anyone; upon rewatch she only hit the two with the butt-end of her naginata. Probably trying her best not to kill anyone and give them a "justified reason" for them to fight back with lethal force; as her mission was to either die in protest or die in an unlawful or despicable manner.
@@lyrilljackson If she'd killed all the guards people would've complained and cried 'girlboss', she didn't kill all the guards and you complain she was 'cringe'.
Get outta here, you sap.
Please give us the extended edition. I'd love 1.5 hours an episode
Director's commentary tracks and DVD extras too please.
2:15 This swordsmanship is a martial art called "Iai” or "Iai-do”.
In addition to arm strength, the speed of the sword and the flexibility of the arms and wrists are required. This scene would become a famous scene in Iai, comparable to the final duel scene in Kurosawa's film "Yojimbo (1961)”.
If this series don’t win a butt load of awards, CRIMSON SKY!
Sad it ended but it was perfect in every way, flowers are only flowers because they fall.
I wanna give all staffs involved this show BIG respect. You gave us such like so epic show. BIG thank you! I'm gonna miss "SHOGUN".😭😭😭
Big THANK YOU to every single person who worked on the show!
Absolutely spectacular show. I've been telling everyone that I can that they NEED to see this masterpiece. Bummed that it's over already but I'm ready to start it from the top just to experience all the details again.
Think of it like a long movie. Not every show needs to go on forever.
Shōgun will be hard to top in 2024! I can't applaud the cast & crew enough for bringing this time period to life.
Amazing Show. For me, best of 2024. From acting to set design to music to audio fx, the history... everything is just top quality. Loved it. Hope for more.
Shogun is a great limited series a lot of details, great story, great actors
2:16 probably my favorite action, brutal efficiency and BAM! two guys down.
My fav remains the assassin attack in episode 2!
What an amazing mini series in every aspect. Congrats to the actors, actresses, crews, directors, & producers. 🎉
Great Job FX on bringing this amazing show to screen. I'll never forget this perfect season.
I'm really hoping that this series encourages a new generation to read Clavell's novel of the same name.
Much Respect for these show❤🎉
Missing this show so much already. Shōgun was an amazing show!
One of the best of all times
Merci pour cette mini série @fxnetworks 🙏
Sanada est exceptionnel
Anna sawai m'a fait pleurer
Fudji est incroyable bref toute l'équipe ! Merci
Sad that it’s over. Happy that it happened.
Big Thamk you for everyone who worked on the show ❤ Thank you for all your work Minna San ❤ You will win emmys golden globes and other major awards
Thank you , already missing the show. They felt like family.
This show better win a lot of awards !!
Such a great show. Every actor and actress was amazing
I am getting chills just watching this. The movements and fight choreography were so good.
FX Networks, please release "The Making of Fuji-sama".
We want to watch the video Moeka Hoshi is preparing for Fuji-sama.
Fuji-sama simps reporting for duty! haha :D I love Fuji-sama as well and was missing her from this behind the scenes series.
Can't get enough of Anna Sawai/Mariko. Hope she gets more shows, I love her.
Thank you for showing all the bonus content here before I buy the Blu-ray set!!! 😂🎉
These fights seem far more realistic than any fights I’ve even seen in any Hollywood movie, ever.
I wish i can forget what i watched so i can re-experience this masterpiece one more time
Wish there would had been more episodes it was an amazing series
i can't get enough of this show, i know its over, but i wish for MORE!
This show deserve all rewards
Shogun
the show was so perfect.
I really like how there's no superhuman scene in battles here. Mariko, otnumbered against male guards, ofc will lose, she's not superhuman, and yet we all can feel that she actually accomplishes something greater and relate to her frustration as a human.
Thank you to everyone involved!
One of the best shows ever made
Shogun, Station Eleven, zerozerozero, Tales from the Loop, The Underground Railroad, Mrs Davis, The Queen's Gambit, The English.
It's been a good decade so far for limited series!
It is a phenomenal mini series. I am sure it will lots of TV awards.
The last guy who bow to Mariko before meet his death always brings a mist in my eye, as did Buntaro who bow before Toranaga on the dock. There something poetic about it. It's honorable, sad, tragic and stupid all at same time.
So happy to see the fellow horse lovers in Shogun! :)
It sounds soooooooo weird to hear them speaking English with an American accent lmao I don't know what I thought but it just felt so real and Japanese
After finishing watching the episodes, I can say that the very amazing Shogun series is the best series in 2024.
Oh, Omi is speaking English freakently even though he is 100% Japanese.😲
Having major withdrawals 😭😭😭Please keep these bts going. Better than nothing!
Thanks!
10/10 show!!
Gotta hand it to the female assassin as she had to do this in the pitch dark and memorize the corridors
If Akira Kurosawa is alive nowadays he will be delighted to see this great movie!
Great show. I have to say it... you are Owen Wilson's doppelganger :)
it indeed was a full on entertainment!
Fun fact: Lauro Chartrand-DelValle has had to spell out his full name for people every single time his entire life.
Allow me an idea, it's fine that there isn't a 2nd season but they should make a movie, one or 2 that gives the final idea of the series. By the end of the book, we do not get to see the ascension of Lord Yoshi Toranaga as Shogun. And the great fight of Sekigahara. So why not take it to the movies? It would be absolutely fabulous worldwide. A movie that culminates the series!
make a season 2, it will be even more exciting.
Prequel please!!!
Have not read the book but did Mariko actually do something like fight other samurais with spear the womens weapon. It was not in the original TV series back then.
Season 2, season 2, season 2
Wow, that show was amazing! I finished all the episodes in just half a day. Now I'm watching BTS clips because I can't move on. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a series this much!
The cannon scene is so intense
Shame that they not split book history for 2 or even 3 sezons of show. There is material for this and even could add more.
To not show the battle of Sekigahara was mind boggling...the entire show was leading up to that battle and then Nahhhhhh....lol ridiculous
why are al scenes so dark?! I cant see anything
.
if there was another 2 more seasons, i can imagine the fight/war scene be rediculously epic
"Shogun was never meant to be about battles." What was the first thing talked about in this video?
if its Hollywood, we will only see main character fight and fight for 30 min with everyone all slash/guard at same side.
Are there any plans to make GAI JIN as well?
Too bad that there won't be a season 2.
Who else already misses this show?
Cool.
4:29 that dude on the left gets kicked in the head, ouch
4:35 2 poor stuntmen did not have the mats placed in the right spot behind them...
The novel ends, but the history of Japan is interesting from here on out.The battle at Sekigahara with Ishido, a grand location similar to Game of Thrones, thousands of extras, and a bloody battle scene alone could make a second season. In season 3, the battle of Ochiba (Yodo-dono) who turned around and led Toranaga to victory in the Battle of Sekigahara, and his son fights Toranaga at the impregnable Osaka Castle, the winter camp, the battle of the summer camp, and the novel is written in a foreign country. Although the original author is a human being, starting from season 2, Japanese historians and talented screenwriters selected from Japan will be involved in the production, so the Japanese culture will be doubled. In season 2, Ochiha will be played by Fumika Nikaido, who will be the main character. It will be interesting because he will be the main character along with Hiroyuki Sanada. The Battle of Sekigahara, the Winter Siege, and the Summer Siege will reach the climax in history.
Also, Mariko-sama and Yabushige, who passed away in season 1, will appear in flashback scenes, so they will likely appear in season 2 as well.
Seasons 2 and 3 are likely to have a larger global audience than season 1.
Please consider making a season 2.
Wow
I'm sure Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune would have been impressed.
Make a season 2 PLEASE!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The story is told. Only one series was always the plan and all that was needed.
I just want to be on the sideline watching this being filmed! I love all Japanese culture. Need an environmental planner, lol.
If it does not win atleast some the major technical, directorial and acting emmys, sags and golden globes.... i will give crimson sky on them all 😠
let them to direct next marvel movies
P L S SEASON 2 I KNOW SHOGUN BOOK already end but you could continue it with different title
This should of just be movie
When you combine japanese quality with western budget
Do not think Japanese worriers were too cruel, killing any one indiscriminately. The Japanese swords have cutting edge only on one side. The other size is used only to hit and take the power of the enemy, the hit will make the bruise but will not take the life of the victim. All that count is the agility of the sword an.

Let me hit "Replay" button
please, for the love of god (protestant or catholic) make a second season even if you have to make up a story up lol
This show only has two flaws.
- some scenes are too dark and hard to see
- no second season
finale could have been so much better, underwhelming
Hey... You are missing the Battle... The ending was so flat... The Last Samurai had the special something, Shogun although well made, you did not give an audience a great pay off... Marikos death was just glazed over... Barely and inconvenience
Agree to disagree. I originally didn't like it either, but the more I think about it, the more the ending made sense. It did feel anticlimactic but I still cried, laughed and thoroughly enjoyed it. Last Samurai, although it had a great ending, had a very basic white saviour narrative with standard emotional payoffs. It's a Very enjoyable movie, but this is a completely different kind of show. I appreciated the nuances and respecting the audiences intelligence.
Imagine making an amazing show leading up to the battle of Sekigahara and then not actually showing the battle. FAIL. my heart is broken...this show could have been one of the best ever and then they decided to not include one of the biggest moments in Japanese history....
