Im a nurse who's taking a 6 month leave of absence next month. Have a one way ticket from dallas to bangcock on September 18th. Moving out of my place this month and putting everything in a storage unit.... Eeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk Having a huge mix of anxiety and excitement, but felt this is something ive always had to do 😬😬😁😬😁😬
I can’t even imagine the culture shock you’re gonna have from Dallas to Bangkok. I hope you have fun on your journey. Hearing people like you comment gets me excited about my own journey starting in January.
Never drink opened bottles or poured drinks when travelling. Always ask instead for unopened and sealed cans and new bottles. Even better, try to avoid alcohol consumption. Ethanol poisoning is a killer.
what a great video! another tip - I also land up saving up on unnecessary expenses like atm fees etc in south east asia - using apps like ATM Fee Saver - it helps find atms abroad with no fees or lower fees than others along with withdrawal limits etc. worth adding to your list of tricks!
I've just stumbled across this video and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time, as I've just started planning a Cambodia & Thailand trip! I'll be sure to check out your other videos on those countries 😊 insightful vid, thank you!
Nice to see you back with some excellent content. One thing, currently Vietnam has no onward ticket requirement. I flew in September 2, 2022 on a one way flight from San Francisco.
We're doing Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand in that order in December. Coming from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 it's cheaper to fly to Vietnam than to fly to Bangkok.
Wow! This is the greatest travel advice video I have ever seen. You really covered pretty much everything someone should know. I've never been to SEA, and I'm still not even sure I ever will make it there but I stumbled across this and there's a lot here that is probably good tips for traveling anywhere, internationally. My only international travel experience was a bit different as it was military, so much of this didn't apply to me. I am so new to the whole world of the comms and digital aspects like international SIM cards and cell service and things like that. I remember when I first landed in Japan and my phone instantly became nothing more than a clock. I was like "Oh yeah! Duh!" lol. I will sub to your channel for future tips. Thanks for this.
What jabs did you end up going for? I see a lot of conflicting information on what ones I can get away with 1-2 doses on such as Hep A & B and working on a tight budget so want to save as much as possible, would really appreciate you coming back :)
I listened to this while I was commuting to work lol so many helpful tips that weren’t covered in other RUclips videos I’ve watched. I’m not going to SE Asia until November but I’m so excited and ready! ❤ Thank you!
thank you for the insight and a little peck into some of the places you traveled. im planning to travel in about the next two months. i plan to leave from north carolina to japan and work my way down south then the islands etc thanks again hope you get back to traveling soon
Thank you for this video Grace :D I'm in the process of planning my trip to SouthEast Asia and this video helped a lot! Hope to run into you somewhere travelling
I'm an American and longtime resident of Vietnam. Unless you have a massive amount of time, and maybe even if you do, I'd strongly recommend limiting your travels to 2 or 3 countries. SE Asia is very big, very diverse, and if you want to penetrate the cultures at all, you'll need to spend some time. Trying to see everything is not ideal. For comparison, think of someone trying to see all of North America, or all of Europe. Too much.
You have really made some of the best content I ever seen you make. It's because you have put some much effort into you're videos. Happy Valentine's day to you Grace my favorite RUclipsr.
Planning a trip to the Philippines. We appreciate your tips. I'm concerned about my packing. I've packed and repacked, and I'm still afraid I'm packing too much. My husband is afraid his sizes won't be available.
Headed to Thailand (Jomtien, Hua Hin) April 12. Hope to see Cambodia and Viet Nam from there. Planning to attend the SEA Games in Pnom Penh beginning May 5. Not certain about the P.I's yet. The May rain thing sounds like a bummer
So, on point, Kim. I just got back to Vietnam. They didn't ask me about a return flight. Also, the best hamburger I had in my whole life. I love Southeast Asia. It's sad I'm going back in a few weeks. But only for 30 days. The packing tips are perfect. The napkins/tissues issue is real. I amso over weight. I've learned I am not a backpacker. It's not my thing. I tried for 4 months. I need luggage 🧳 😆 🤣 😂. Look forward to seeing you back out there. Catch you around the world. 🌎
@?Clouds for the older folks. If you have physical limitations or if your just not about having your whole life in one bag. I need luggage. I say try it and see if you like it. I did it for almost six months. Not for me. Traveling yes. But I've seen thousands that love it. There is a hugh following and a giant backpacker culture.. Enjoy the ride. Be open-minded and be ready for anything. Plans change as fast as you land in the next city. Have fun and enjoy the journey.
Do you recommend buying tickets throughout Asia while you’re in Asia since it’s cheaper? I want to do that but also scared of not knowing my trip is planned out accordingly
excellent content! but please be aware that facebook (and FB messenger) are not available in China - and using a vpn there is actually illegal. Despite this, it is a wonderful destination.
Hi Grace, can I just ask, but how old were you when you travelled South-East Asia? I'm asking, as I'd like to do the same, however I also want to go to uni, and I need to decide which to do first between travelling or university. I'm 24 years old now, and I'd be 28 years old after university? Any advice would be really appreciated.
I wouldn't tell people to ride motorbikes. It's a major problem in Asia, people getting hurt, falling down ditches, in canals, generally dying and ending up disabled. Your insurance is void unless you have a motobike specific license. Realise that flight evacuation can be $100-200K. People have lost everything.
"grab is like Uber of SEA".. it literally is.. Uber was there before and miserably failed while SEA created grab was successful. This resulted in Uber selling all their business to grab and take grab's share as payment.. so yeah.. it's literally Uber
Indeed South East Asia is very safe. I did vlogs almost everywhere in South East Asia , solo travelling and the people are very friendly and welcoming

So happy that this video was able to help!
Me too! just need to book the ticket. Everything else seems simple. See you out there friend!

Crazy I’ve watched your Southeast Asia videos back home in the US. Now I’m in my third country currently in Thailand, love you hahah
that's super sweet, thanks for all the support!
Exactly I paid also a lot when departing from Cambodia, for same luggage as when cane but without any extra charge. Crazy …. haha

Great video, covered useful info, thank you. Have subscribed!
Great tips Grace
Planning 3 months in asia
I think Cambodia food is amazing. I didn't know it had a bad rep for not being that good tasting.
Probably bcause most countries in that region also have their own delicious cuisine which is also kinda underrated
Thank you so much! Will be going in a year or so. This is super super helpful ❤
This video is so helpful

For visas - do you need to show proof that you have a departing flight out of the country?
Thanks for this sincerely and very informativ vlog. I enjoyed much!!

Oh yea, what airline did you use? Did they weigh your carry-on? I heard SE Asia airlines have strict weight restrictions.
I always say pack less because you will always buy more! And there’s laundry everywhere as well
It's really nice to see you after so long... Great tips... Much love from India 🙏
Thanks a ton!! 🥲
Suuuucch useful tips! Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
wow! what an epic adventure!

Great travel tips Grace what is your favorite Asian country?
I just came from her Vietnam Travel Guide video and she said Vietnam was her favorite country.
Yes 😁

How did you not spend much if you took hotels rather than hostels? Can you share us link to your accommodations esp in Thailand and Vietnam?
working on it!!
