  • Jan Frodeno was having a magical season where he knocked off Lionel Sanders at Oceanside 70.3, Patrick Lange at Ironman Frankfurt and Javier Gomez and Alistair Brownlee at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Then, not long after 70.3 Worlds, he was forced to pull out of Kona with an injury. What’s next for the Olympic Gold Medalist and two time Ironman World Champion?

Jan is a legend. Just purely as he can transcend all distances and smash em. He is fantastic and a great ambassador for Triathlon

Jan is a class act.... I was bummed to hear the announcement of him not racing but not surprised; these guys are pushing it to the limit all the time. Stress fractures are always a threat. He'll be back with a vengence next year, to be sure. As to the break, Oceanside would be good timing..... spring timing but not before..... really give it a chance to heal, then slowly ramp it up to full bore training in late winter / early spring. Go Jan!!

That's the thing big crowd dont get about pain. It's not about the structure, most probably the stressfracture or atleast osteopania were there before even SA 70.3 WC and I think the long flight and delays with body abnormally passive and recovering from the high intensity race combined accumulated enough stressors to the central nervous system to start producing pain signals..

And best of luck Jan! I know you have a good staff around you, let them do their job and let your hip recover. There is alot of things you can do to train around the injury and keep reasonable fitness in your system to tap into it after you are complitely healed!

Anyone heard discussions about that IM caught Jan doping - which is the real reason he pulled out?

Anyone seen comments about other discussions that allegedly took place without links or sources of those discussions? Nothing to see here.

Thats the reason I am asking. IM generally keep quiet about individuals who get caught doping. I have just heard multiple sources claim this - which is why I am trying to research it further.
