    These videos are so inspiring. And I can definitely attest to how training with a faster runner helps. Years ago when I ran my second half I trained frequently with a buddy who was the state cross country champion and he would leave me in the dust every time. I would try my hardest to keep up with him in all the drills, hills and sprints we did. Ended up shaving 15 minutes off from the first time

    Lionel i love what you are doing making things more public but you have to realise that Frodeno has been working for over 20 years into building that 1:06:30 half marathon. You havent, you have many years left, he doesnt. You cant turn 20 years of work into a few hard run workouts. Fix your insecuritys and you will be able to win next year

    the best thing what you did this year, to change all back, you was already close, so it is indeed just to close the last six mile, and if you stay with wurf and kienle in the swim , the 3musketeers can do some damage again. Have fun and patience, you are so fresh in years compared to the others.

    Can someone comment on the mid foot cleat placement? I’ve asked a few times but no answers - pros v cons?

    • @curtisCclarke
      @curtisCclarke 6 лет назад

      I am a professional bike fitter. Pros(?): it supposedly increases one's power output on a bike via pedaling power output; & decreases one's cadence (repetition per minute). And, some also believes it may also save your legs a little for the upcoming run. Cons: (?): some may say -- improper bike fit due to possible improper cleat placement which may lead to a whole bunch of other issues.

    Run technique and bike position and handling. That’s where Frodeno currently (injury aside) has Sanders. Grit, determination and brute strength and will power = sanders. But he needs to swallow his pride and get a coach to help him transition from heel plant to mid / front foot to become an efficient runner.

    I'm not sure since when did you notice your overall power being lower on the bike, but if you've dropped a lot of weight from the dietary changes, it will automatically also drop your power, since you're losing muscle mass at the same time as losing fat. Even though your power's dropping, you should compare the power to weight ratio (watts/kg) and see if that has improved.

    At 2:58 pause the video and look at the position of the two skewers, they are both vertical and not in an optimum aero position, which needs them to be horizontal.. over a 180km bike leg this will cost Lionel valuable watts and time..
